sure that Obummer has been told by the joint chiefs that a war in Iran would be a disaster. I don't think Obummer will bite. This seems to me to be Israeli and neoCon propaganda to out pressure on Obummer in an election year. And, if Obummer tells the israeli's that the U.S. will not intervene if Israel launches an attack then the Israeli's will back down...and that is what I expect.

It's not in our interests
For those who are concerned of a possible WW3, the factors for it to happen are extremely unlikely, Those warmongering assholes that think this will be an awesome campaign to win though are dreaming bigtime, While anything is possible, We need to assess this situation directly, one thing is for sure, this won't be a walk in the park
Firstly Russia and China will not hold their oaths to Iran, in terms of backing them up, Russia has never shown to hold any true allegiance to these middle eastern countries, Arming them has always been a way to pester the US and sell weapons, China though has potentially 900,000,000 billion to lose so it will use this opportunity to arm Iran and groups in the middle east who neighbor Iran to cause as much pain to the US as possible, but it won't sacrifice it's Multi trillion dollar trade in tech, food, and economy between the US for the population of 80,000,000 in Iran, China and the asian powerhouses are prospering with wealth now, the future Chinese president came to the US to discuss the 2 countries' futures regarding economy and trade, no way they would let it all go for Iran's regime
Remember though Iran, IS NOT IRAQ, A ground invasion would be suicide, Iran has been preparing for war for awhile, and unlike before it HAS shiite allies in the middle east to cause damage and it has the resources to outlast the US, let alone oil prices would skyrocket, the US financially would go bankrupt, This is NOT in our interests, are we ready to lose and Carrier group or two?, I agree with RP that Iran would not use the Nuke on Israel, why would they?, they would be wiped in a couple of hours.
We couldn't just attack directly like we did with Iraq, Iran is much more capable, so an Airstrike is more feasible if it happens, but even then we would have to execute every move without mistakes, but so much can go wrong, I'd rather we just stay out of it and have Israel declare war, let them fight Iran, There is so many factors to explain why this is a bad idea, Strategically we are having a hard time making allies there anyway
I doubt Israel will act alone
I also doubt the USA will do any preemptive strike on Iran. I could easily be wrong, but my feeling is they are bluffing. If they can badger Iran into capitulating, its an easy win. If they in fact start a full fledged war with Iran, the world sinks into a world wide depression and probably WWIII. I don't think they could be that stupid.

I am sure that Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel and the US would all co-ordinate a strike against Iran, but it won't be easy.
Remember the Soviet Union then Post Soviet Russia, backed Iraq with weapons, made it it's ally, sold it's hardware, well when the UN decided to attack in 91, Russia slowly backed away, They won't fight the US for Iran, and Taiwan would be a more likely scenario where China would threaten the US with War, even then it would be risky, in this era countries want to do trade and almost every Asian country is prospering, I agree that oil would sky rocket, but that would benefit countries like Russia, Canada, Venezuela, and Nigeria for sure

Misleading title
This looks like a political move pure and simple. This is the show you put on to get the other side to join the table (clearly hinted at in the wording of the statements). You just wrap it in tough sounding terms, because well.. you're a superpower so it has to sound super powerful.
IF they're going to war, it won't look like this. We're not (quite) there yet.
What probably happened is Iran puts out these messages too: look at our rocket! Look, Ahmadinejad in labcoat pointing at something! They had a couple and now the State Department felt it had to do something in return. So they wrote a couple statements, restating America's position, and have a couple of senators say it on camera. Look, how united we are! We really really mean it this time!
They also blocked Iran's bank transactions today and this is the statement to accompany that move.

Why is RP not talking about the real reason for war with Iran?
and Iraq and Libya? Their decisions to stop trading oil for Federal Reserve Notes.
Artificially propping up the US currency/notes depends on the high price of oil. It the reason the US prefers middle eastern oil instead of western oil.
I think the public would be outraged if they knew the real reason for these middle east wars. IMHO the American public and the world in general would love to hear Dr. Paul bring this truth to light.

Wouldn't work
The average voter doesn't even understand his monetary policy so if he were to even bring this up, most would say it is a conspiracy theory etc. Besides that, this theory just became public and it is exactly the same thing that happened to the Libyian leadership. An undeclared War is an ILLEGAL WAR period and there are SO many corrupt and illegal things happening now that you have to keep the message on point and clear. You can help by telling everyone you know about the issue of Iran wanting to trade in Gold and Silver instead of the default fiat dollar as an additional explanation but for right now we need to focus on all the Americans that understand the loss of blood and treasure in these corrupt wars.
I believe it would work because Knowledge is Power
Dr. Paul is excellent in educating the masses. And this is not a new theory as a quick Google search will reveal. Iraq made the switch Federal Reserve Notes to euros in 2000. Iran made the switch in 2006.
Dr. paul is leading the relevant financial discussions in this election. People are concerned about hastily going to war with Iran on a misguided guise. I believe most people would appreciate the opportunity to learn the truth of why the war-drums are sounding.

If we decide to use Military force on Iran, I hope with all sincerity that Iran guarantees they will unleash EVERY SINGLE MISSLE, FIGHTER, BOMBER, NAVAL VESSEL, TANK and MIlitary Personnel on Israel. Not because I want Israel destroyed (thought I despise their government and their policies), but because they can not attack us back directly, so that is the very best option they have in order to ensure we don't attack them.
If Iran is smart, and I believe they are, they should invest as many resources as they can to ensure they have nuclear weapons at this point. They state they do not want them, but with all of the war-mongering and drum beating that is happening in the US and Israel in regards to Iran, a nuclear deterrent is their best defense.
Don't like it? I really don't give a f*** what you think in this regard. We have demonized a country who has not attacked anyone in over 200 years and we hold a country that oppresses their neighbors, treating them no better than animals in high regard, as our ally. F*** that.

If we do decide to use Military force on Iran, I hope they totally get their butt kicked, and Russia goes home with its tail between its legs.
I hope someday we learn how pointless it all was, because many will die, and we're out of money, but frankly if it's going to be this way then we need to win. Without spillover, without WWIII.

with this country/world? Enough is enough already with the wars. We have no money, inflation and unemployement is out of control, foreclosures are on the rise (again), Greece is about to colapse and other EU countries will follow.
