Ron Paul not yet on the Montana Ballot
Submitted by optimystic on Sun, 02/19/2012 - 23:04Urgent! Petitions must be submitted by March 2.
Ron Paul had the highest % of votes in MT of any state in 2008, I think in the neighborhood of 25%! He can WIN the primary here! He needs to win some states!
I just received an email from the Paul Campaign and my local GOP Chairman (RP supporter) stating that Dr. Paul is not on Montana's ballot yet. We only need 500 verified signatures to take care of this. The campaign wants to submit at least 750. Any registered voter can sign the petition. If you're in Montana and will help gather signatures, please contact me and I'll forward the nitty gritty details to you.
Here's a portion of the email I received:
Dear Friend,
Let me know if you can help gather signatures for a petition to put Ron Paul on the Montana primary ballot. (I don't know why he's not on it yet.)
The petition form is the second page of the attached document. Read the instructions below. Use a different sheet for each county.
The campaign wants the signatures turned in by March 2.

I hope the Montana supporters
become Precinct Committeemen/women because it is the County Convention and State Convention that matters. The primary is just a beauty contest.
Read the delegate selection process the Montana GOP listed on their website:
http://www.mtgop.org/rnc-convention.aspx
Page 1, Letter D is the most important paragraph.
"Delegates to the State Delegate Convention shall be elected from each county by the County Central Committee."
To be a member of your County Central Committee, you MUST be a Precinct Committeeman or Precinct Committeewoman.
Make it happen!!
Montana is one of Ron Paul's greatest chances for a win! He absolutely MUST be on that ballot!
Make it happen!!

update?
Is he on the ballot or not?
Not yet!
We need to have signatures of registered voters on our petitions verified by our county boards of elections. Each county will report how many signatures are valid to the Secretary of State. We are trying to get the petitions submitted by March 2. We need 500 valid signatures statewide. It will be some days before the Secretary of State will make her announcement.
Can we expect the SOS
to make an announcement early in the week, do you know?
Update please...

What County
was that in? Thanks for your efforts!
Turned into Cascade County!
Turned into Cascade County!
Thanks for that!
I will post tomorrow on the numbers I know of in various counties. We are shooting for 750 - 1,000. Folks, gathering 20 names is quite a few hours of work in Montana. Everyone that I know of that is gathering signatures is doing so by going door to door and engaging in conversations that will later become votes! Way to go!
Just turned in 20 ballot
Just turned in 20 ballot signatures in Montana today for Doctor Paul. I know it is not alot but for just 1 person I think I did pretty good! So far Romney is the only one on the primary ballot. Santorum is not yet but they are working it and no clue on Newt.
Bump Hows this going??

for updates? We're edging right up to the wire here : ) Nothing else matters.
Flathead meeting with notary
For anyone in the Flathead region of MT, we are having an organization meeting this Sat. the 25th. We have arranged for a notary to be at the meeting and will help make sure all petition packages are in order and have a point person taking them to the election department.
Colter Coffee, Main Street, Kalispell at 4:30 Sat. Details available at the Flathead Valley meetup site.
I suspect that our little group alone has more than 500. (I got 20 tonight with the bar crowd for a total of 60 just from me.) With all the groups working on this, we're gonna set some records!
I'm going to indulge in one little story out of the dozens of calls I've been fielding the last couple weeks just to give an idea of how dedicated Montanans have been on this.
A lonely ranch wife way out in the middle of nowhere called with a few questions. She wanted to gather signatures even though she'd have to drive five miles over rough country in
the dead of winter just to get to her nearest neighbor. She figured she'd make a day of it and hit every ranch between hers and the county election department 35 miles away. I think she said that would be about 8.
When I told her that I thought we'd have plenty of signatures and she shouldn't feel she had to put herself out, she said something like, "There's no way I wouldn't do this. I don't care if there's already enough. I want my name on that list. And so does my daughter and my husband."
I'm like, "All right, go for it!"
Great story, thanks for posting it
.

Update
The word seems to have gotten out, I know of several people collecting signature in my little part of the state. Several people contacted me to get going with signatures. I have 33 so far of my goal of 50 in this small town. I've gone door to door with petition and brochures. People love the brochures! Only 3 people were antagonistic about Dr. Paul. They don't want him on the ballot! Most are very receptive and I've met several strong supporters. One voted for RP twice in the past! I've been able to get to know my neighbors a little better and have had some great conversations!
I want to sign the petition!
I am a Montanan and would like to sign the petition. I sent the you, the poster, my contact information so that you can help me do this.

Relax...The Grassroots Are On Top Of It...
This information is in the appropriate hands and we're resolving it as we speak. No one needs to be freaking out at the moment. All the populated areas across MT are working towards the same efforts...we'll get 2,000 sigs, four times the required amount, no problem. We have an accounting mechanism in place and if there's any doubts whether we'll make it after this weekend, I'll personally dedicate myself for 8 hours a day until it's resolved.
If you're from MT and you want to get involved, search for your local county's grassroots group and you'll be in the know.
Sorry, can't relax! You only
Sorry, can't relax! You only have a few days! Let us know how it goes ok? Thanks for doing all you are doing!
So, please correct this post ASAP if indeed he IS on the Ballot!
Before anyone's energy is wasted on an unnecessary project.
HAVE I UNDERSTOOD THIS CORRECTLY? That he has indeed met all the REQUIREMENTS for Montana? (Posted documentation(?) way below...)
