Ron Paul: "In a true revolution... believe me the revolution doesn't occur within a single political party. A true revolution and those views will be reflected in the Republican party and the Democrat party and the Independent party and everybody in the country will be affected!" Speech 2008 Rally For the Republic

NEW YORKER MAGAZINE is well behind the citadel walls of the liberal elite.
-
And this writer is feeding a genuine politician to a hungry liberal audience.
-
They will savor his article.
-
They will ponder his style and content..
-
They will discuss Ron Paul with friends...
-
This is a tactical home run.

"On December 16, 2007, on the two-hundred-and-thirty-fourth anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, Ron Paul, congressman and Presidential candidate, presided over a nationwide fund-raiser.
-
This was a new tea party, with a new slogan: “Liberty is brewing.”
In Boston, hundreds of Paul’s supporters marched to Faneuil Hall.
-
Paul himself appeared in Freeport, Texas, where organizers had prepared barrels for him to dump into the Brazos River. One barrel read “United Nations”; another read “I.R.S.” The campaign raised more than six million dollars in one day, which was a record, and the event prefigured the protests that became common as the Tea Party movement coalesced, in 2009.
-
The movement, with its focus on economic liberty and small government, sometimes seemed like a continuation of Paul’s campaign for the Republican nomination, during which he won a great deal of attention and a modest number of votes. It’s not much of a stretch to call him the “Godfather of the Tea Party,” as his campaign literature does, quoting Fox News. Ron Paul was ahead of his time.

I guess it's pretty good
It's obvious the author isn't a Paulite, at least not quite, but it's also clear that he's a good writer and did a fair amount of homework/legwork in putting this together, and tried to be pretty "balanced" in including various angles on RP.
I'll give it a 7, more for the quality of the writing and the effort of the research than for the message communicated, which IMO was only so-so. Of course, I am biased. ;-)

Good article but ironic
The author was on the paleomedium TV this afternoon basically calling Dr Paul a hypocrite for saying things while stumping, that contradict what he has put in the super brochure.
This author seems to have wimped out on TV after this good article.
Thanx,
Jason

This is a really good article.
Mr. Sanneh has done a very thorough job in this interview...it is really well done...and I do agree with you, Barracuda, that he would be a good choice to write a biography on Dr. Paul.
I really liked this quote....
"Paul casts himself as the leader of a righteous cabal—a conspiracy of the conspired-against."
It was nice learning that Dr. Paul took his bride Carol to see the Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas for their anniversary...and while backstage meeting the 'Phantom' actor, Anthony Crivello revealed himself to be a Ron Paul fan!!
I have to say that my favorite article of all time is still the one in Esquire Magazine by John Richardson, because it was beautifully written...Richardson was almost poetic in the way that he captured Dr. Paul's essence.
Thanks for sharing the article.
Peace.

My email to Kelefa
RE: The Political Scene: Party Crasher
by Kelefa Sanneh
Kelefa,
This is the most exquisite article about Ron Paul that I have seen in five years.
Out of hundreds of pieces, this is by far the most masterful capture of Ron Paul's legacy.
You would be the most eligible to write his biography and any historical work of his 30 years campaigning for liberty.
Thank you!
