Many people are concerned about the new Michigan ad exposing the anti-conservative Rick Santorum. Some DP fans feel that the campaign should not be attacking Santorum and that this just helps Romney. I believe the ad and the timing of its release was to influence the content of the debate and encourage Santorum to take on Paul on in front of a national audience. I can hardly wait!

The new anti-Santorum ad was a shrewd move.
It ensures Ron Paul more speaking time at this debate. I expect Dr. Paul to demolish Santorum, just as he did Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry.

I did notice that the last 3 or 4 debates he talked around Ron Paul and only referred to the others. He is doing this on purpose.
i wish dr. paul would DEMAND equal speaking time
these "debates" have always been a joke. dr. paul often gets left out of many topics just because some moron 'moderator' doesn't call on him. after they finally allow him to speak, it's usually a horrid question about the newsletters or about his supporters being 'conspiracy theorists', or 'why do you blame america for 9/11?' kind of rubbish, instead of letting him talk about real issues like the federal reserve.
unfortunately, most american sheeple don't know much about political issues or world events outside of the MSM propanda. so i'm afraid these ridiculous 'debates' have a lot more influence on them than they should.
i would much prefer to see a real debate in which the candidates themselves asking each other questions, and each participant was guaranteed equal time.

The timing is perfect.
We DO NOT want Santoru winning Michigan. It would be alright if he wins Arizona, but if he were to beat Romney in Romney's own home state, that would pretty much seal the deal on Santy being the non-Romney candidate going into Super Tuesday. Hopefully this will help Romney win Michigan and give Dr. Paul a strong third, or hopefully a strong second ahead of Santorum.

Paul is not and should not be going for the anti-Romney card.
The race for anti-Romney is over. Newt and Santorum are both going for the frontrunner position, not as the alternative to Romney. It is an inferior position to want to be the anti-Romney candidate. Don't belittle yourselves - go for the top frontrunner spot now and not give that title to Romney.

Address all three candidates. How do you plan to pay for it? Be specific. Will you implement a war tax? What will you cut to pay for the war expenses? How much will the deficit grow as a result of the war? Will you go to war with Iran if Congress does not declare war? And how will you define winning? Is it enough to destroy their nuclear capability or should we strive for regime change? How many countries' regines do you want to change? Then look at the camera - America, do you want another war?

Look, let's be realistic. The GOP is going to make sure Santorum OR Romney will get the coronation, probably Romney since that seems to be Goldman Sachs favorite one. But, Ron Paul should attack Santorum RIGHT NOW because he is the one gaining traction, in large part THANKS to the Media, who have not been critical of him in the slightest.
So, I say go for Santorum. Then, later Romney! Dr. Paul has nothing to lose at this point. We know the GOP has been cheating and lying, so since the Campaign apparently didn't want to file lawsuits against the Media or the GOP, and as a result, at this point, we have nothing to lose. Go for the throat on Santorum, the whiny spoiled beaver tooth!

Agreed. I've been saying this for awhile. Paul needs to start getting other candidates to speak on a position, so it's very clear that what HE is saying is legitimate. Make them answer questions they'd rather never ever have to answer.

One of the main things
Dr. Paul needs to hammer on is why gas prices have gone up 50c in the last 3 days (and may go up more).
IMO he MUST repeat over and over again, that our harassment of Iran has led directly to this gas price increase which is going to ruin our already weak economy. He must be able to tie our foreign policy into our economy in a way that voters will appreciate.

Answer a question, if he will bring up one of the candidates names, then they will want to respond, and then Dr Paul gets to respond again, etc. Instead, this time Dr Paul gets to volley back and worth while the others have to just listen.

In a recent debate, the mod would let other candidates go on and on 'til commercial break if need be. When it was Ron Paul wanting to answer another candidate, the mod would say, in no uncertain or subtle way, "hurry" or "be quick." (I'm paraphrasing - I don't feel like looking for it.) Don't expect anything different. If anything, expect even more marginalization of Ron Paul in this debate. Remember, he hasn't "won" a primary or caucus. Expect exclusion. I guarantee it.

I Agree but This Is Where Ron Is Going To Have to Be Assertive.
The rules are if their name is called, they get to respond and then he is suppose to be able to respond back. He is going to have to insist upon it as our Commander in Chief. I don't recall him using this tactic on every question which will give him more debate time.

excellent strategy. I would love to see Dr. Paul employ it. Every single question should be answered, and then compared to one of the others presumed answer.
On foreign policy...
there isn't a dime's worth of difference between Romney, Santorum and Gingrich. If there is truly going to be a debate, then Ron Paul should be given enough time to counteract each of the other three since they will be parroting each other.
I hope Ron is up to speed on the Iran situation and can blow these fear mongers out of the water.
