PRIORITY: PA Delegates need your help !
Submitted by grover on Wed, 02/22/2012 - 11:15Hello,
I'm running as a delegate for Ron Paul in PA, and I'm working with 5 other delegates, and two alternates. We have a lot going on right now, especially with PA postponing the delegate challenge deadline until Thursday at 5PM. It's been a crazy few weeks for us.
Anyway, it looks as though all of our delegates will be on the ballot. With that said, we are starting our plans to raise money in order to promote them. We put together a Chipin to raise between $10,000 and $15,000, and we need your help. We do have a plan in place to actually win, but we need money to execute.
Unfortunately, I can't reveal the names of the persons involved, just yet, because it's part of our strategy (ask the campaign for confirmation), because if others knew of us involved it could make our jobs more difficult.
For those who need verification (in that I'm not just collecting money to rip you off), I'm willing to provide my name/number to someone trustworthy who can keep things private, for now. You can call and speak with me, and even verify my identity with the PA campaign (Bill Faust). I'm inherently cautious about this, so I'd prefer to speak with someone with DP cred, and I'll let you guys choose who that person is.
So, here is the Chipin. Thank you for all your help.

Also, I've been trying to to
Also, I've been trying to to find the 2008 delegate ballots and election results for various counties/boros in PA. Can any help me with that?

last year the campaign sent
last year the campaign sent us in PA emails with what delegates to vote for in the primaries about a week before, so we could spread it; HOWEVER, Plz remember that we need to know who to vote for, so make another post closer to the primary if there is no official word. the primary here in pa is just a beauty contest, but we do vote actual delegates on the ballot as well.
I will definitely do that.
I will definitely do that. Right now I'm playing by the campaign rules. I'll tell you what, I've been working with the PA coordinators this past week, and they have a great group. David Jahn and Bill Faust are amazing. They were involved in 2008, too.

Do we have at least 59 delegates running?
.
I can't confirm totals, I
I can't confirm totals, I know that between the two district we have 6. I'm not even supposed to reveal that.

I'm in PA. Wish I could help.
I'm in PA. Wish I could help. Very poor. Not sure how you'll raise 10-15k. This is a bad situation. Can you get money from the RP campaign? I mean, this is really -part- of the campaign. What will make this harder is, how in the world can I vote for you guys if I don't know who you are? But I see the problem. There are people who would absolutely do the sort of things you are worried about. Depends on the district though, too. There are some libertarian areas; like Venango County.
yeah, call the campaign as to
yeah, call the campaign as to volunteer to help the delegates. The sooner you do this the better. For instance, we needs an army of people to canvas doing a walk-and-drop of flyers. We are falling very short on getting the volunteers we need. That's another reason why we need to raise money, to help offset the volunteer deficiency. And, as pointed, working the polls is HUGE.

PM me
Even if you don't have money to spare, you can help the delegates out on primary day, and before by promoting them. PM me and I'll hook you up with the coordinator from your district.
Well, if supporters in PA
Well, if supporters in PA email me you're name and address (or email), I will make it a point to provide the delegate names just prior to the election. That sound good?

Some Penna Delegate Background Info
In Penna, getting RP delegates elected is not one primary election, it is 18 smaller elections.
Just some helpful background info...
1. Pennsylvania has a total of 72 delegates, 59 of which stand for election in the 18 congressional districts. The distribution is 3 per district, plus five bonus delegate positions are allocated, one to each of the five congressional districts that have best supported GOP candidates over the past four years. (Source: http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P12/PA-R)
2. The top three vote-getters in each cong. district are ther elected delegates from that cong. district. Penna delegates are uncommitted, which is why they are so valuable.
3. The competition is plentiful. This year there are 20 candidates competing for the 3 slots in CD4, while only 5 candidates are competing for the 3 slots in both CD1 and CD2. I'd say the average number per district is 7-8 candidates.
4. The competition is tough. Many of the non-Ron Paul candidates are political fixtures in their areas---ex county commissioners, relatives of sitting politicians, and more than a few from formidable special interest groups like anti-abortion zealots and powerful union apparatchiks. Looking at the 2008 vote counts, in the less-contested CDs 8,000-10,000 votes were winning numbers, but in the more competitive CDs, the winners received upwards of 20,000-22,000+ votes and in two CDs the top winners got 34,000+ and 44,000+ votes each.
5. Ron Paul delegate candidates will have to perform an objective analysis of the CD to decide whether running in Stealth Mode or running as professed RP delegates is the right strategy for them.
6. What is indisputable is that in order to run a competitive race, candidates will need what we call in Philadelphia "street money." This is the money paid to a worker to camp out at a polling place for 13 hours straight, handing out "sample ballots" (a sheet with the name and lever/button number of the desired candidates) to voters as they come to the polling place. We will also need workers to contact Registered Republicans in each precint to get them out to the polls to hopefully vote for our delegates. These workers will be in competition with the established Republican party machine which will be doing the same thing for a candidate who I can guarantee you will not be Ron Paul.
BUMP from PA!

as soon as i'm sure this is legit
i'm in.
Thanks
I haven't received any email or message from someone. I worried about revealing too much information because of that info getting out. Besides, the campaign is advising against it. Again, I'm willing to offer confirmation to someone trustworthy, and they can verify with the campaign.
The important thing is that the delegates, not just in our CD, need financial support from the community. We are trying to raise money locally, but it's almost impossible to reach the numbers we need. There is only so much door to door canvasing that we can do, everything needs to mailed strategically.
