Poll: Ron Paul ties Mitt Romney for second in Wisconsin

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has tied former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for second place in a Marquette University Law School poll of likely voters in the Wisconsin Republican presidential primary.

Mr. Paul garnered 17 percent of the votes in the Wisconsin poll and Mr. Romney pulled in 18 percent of the votes. Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum finished in first with 34 percent of the votes. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, whose campaign is struggling to regain momentum, earned 12 percent of the votes.

Although Mr. Santorum has a double-digit lead over his competitors, Mr. Paul and Mr. Romney still have time to increase their support among Badger State voters. The Wisconsin poll reveals that 17 percent of Republican voters are undecided.

The northern tier loves Ron Paul

Where has Ron been doing best? New Hampshire, Maine, Minnesota. Where is he expected to do best? Alaska, Washington, Idaho, and North Dakota. He polls better in Michigan than Arizona. And now second in Wisconsin.

What do all these states have in common?

A border with Canada.

Coincidence? You decide.

Ron Paul stands at 70%

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

Who

Who are these people who support Santorum? The man is about as ass-backwards as they come. I find the man so offensive and I'm not offended by much. It just truly blows my mind.

The people that watch fox

The people that watch fox news and are not internet savy!

Rally at THE BATTLE OF TAMPA

I'm as puzzled as you are

I just hope that as the time goes on people start digging into his record and wake up.

They Are

The Neocons. They have found their man, at last.

Gingrich was too smarmy. Romney is not stout enough. Santorum is just right - a man of the moment - a man who tells the neocons what they want to hear.

The Tea Party, whatever that is, will endorse him soon enough, if they have not already.

Obama will smear this bug of a man across the windshield of America.

They needed the rabid

social conservatives who want to tell us what we can do in our bedroom. Santorum is perfect for that. Big government to protect us from ourselves. It's a minority of voters and getting smaller, but they are passionate about pro-life, hating gays, etc, so they'll go to every church and get them to the polls for Santorum, it's all they need to try to peel support from Dr. Paul. Establishment doesn't care who wins as long as it's Romney or Obama...same thing.

I have the same question. I

I have the same question. I see Santorum as a false artificial candidate and cannot figure out who is supporting him and on what issues. This false paradigm candidate is a red herring....

agree

Ron Paul just called Santorum "fake".

Fellow Wisconsinites, I would advise

PLEASE do not associate Ron Paul with "Stand with Walker" or "Recall Walker" efforts. This is a very polarizing issue and to associate Ron Paul with it alienates potential voters.

You've gotta be kidding me.

THIS is why Santorum is kicking our butts. He's selling himself as a Conservative and Republican voters want nothing less. If Paul wins the nomination, he'll beat Obama hands down. But he can't win the nomination worrying about ticking off union thugs.

Why?

Right to Work is a message that unites Wisconsin conservatives right now.

I guarantee the majority of those 34% who said they'd back Santorum don't realize that Santorum has voted against Right to Work in the past and is liable to do it again.

It's dumbfounding that Santorum is leading WI polls.

Once the campaigns start advertising there, odds are you'll see a massive impact on the polling with Santorum falling from grace overnight.

If there's no Ron Paul meetup

If there's no Ron Paul meetup group in your area, there is one in Madison. They're active, and you can probably coordinate with them.

lying states, Ron Paul can take this state. If they are running the ad about Rick that should take him down too. Ron Paul, Mitt and Getrich, attack Rick tonight! Of course it could backfire and make people feel sorry for the dude, I mean the FAKE. No what they need to do is bring up facts about his voting record and the fact that PA did not elect him back to office after two terms.

Well said

I have a gut feeling that today during the debate Rick and Mitt will destroy each other.

There's

a poll on that page too. lol RP is walking away with it.

Is there some way to get the students to donate $10 in WI?

I am surprised at WI because I found it extremely conservative, maybe why Santorum is leading, but they aren't ignorant.

Unless it has changed a lot (Milwaukee) they had a lot of small job shops and a large juvenile entrepreneurs with real patents.

Could be an opening for students who aren't looking for large corps but want to do something to add to society.

All we have to do is put up a bunch of signs at the U of

Wisconsin at Madison, and you will have 40000 supporters IN YOUR FACE. I went to school there and it is super political, always has been, and they will go for RP.

Best thing is if he can go to the Hebron Farmer Bar, and just drop in....pretty soon there will be a crowd far and wide.

CaliforniaGirlForPaul

Ron Paul second in Wisconsin poll is not important?

This is front page material and yet there are zero comments here?

Winner take all

Wisconsin is a winner take all by Congressional District and State. However it is an open primary with same day registration.

Thanks for the info

We need to get some dems and independents to vote.
