Sen. Rand Paul Explains His Vote In Favor Of Sanctions On Iran

Today I attended a town hall in Alexandria, KY and was able to finally ask Rand Paul a question many have wondered about, namely why he voted in favor of sanctions on Iran.

As far as I know this question hadn't been posed to him yet...

I agree... Rand is WAY too

I agree... Rand is WAY too much like all the politicians I do not like... With the few exceptions he is just as close to the establishments as the rest. I am 100% with Ron Paul.... but far from Rand...

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

What is Rand's position on

What is Rand's position on the Fed? Don't be fooled.

He said at this same town

He said at this same town hall he would like to eliminate the Fed and if he couldn't accomplish that he would do everything he could to limit their power and render them meaningless

I'm totally cool with lying...

I'm totally cool with lying and misrepresenting your true position in order to defeat the out of control behemoth war machine and its bloodlusting sheep.

Overly political answer

I'm disappointed.

I wish I'd taped the entire

I wish I'd taped the entire question and answer session. This wasn't the only questionable foreign relations response... domestically was spot on though, and his comments on the Fed were 100% the same as his father

Rand understands the

Rand understands the relationship between the Fed and the out of control foreign policy. The one won't survive without the other. Think of it.

Any Rand basher down below

needs to wake up a little more. We all are suppossedly awake but we try to think we know as outsiders how the game is being played. Shame on any of you longtime supporters giving in to bashing Rand, unbelievable to say the least. If Ron or Rand screw us in the long run, well then we were over anyway, we have to trust some of our own, and some will have to play the game differently. I hate to call you bashers stupid, but that is what you are being. We are awake, but we don't know how to choose our battles wisely. Let Rand work the system, quit with this drama, and let him play the game for the win. You could just tell him to become Dr. No number 2 in the den of wolves and he could become the lone vote for the next 30 years. You all are suppossed to be smarter than this, geez.

I hate to say it....

But I'm also disappointed that any longtime follower of Dr. Paul would be so dumb. Seriously... In the case of liberty, once you GET IT, you GET IT. Bashing Rand is a sign to me that many people still just don't get it, and that's very disheartening.

Rand Paul is one of the most powerful freshmen senators in the history of this country... Who here really thinks that he's going to go DC as the crown prince of the GOP and publicly take on the so-called "radical" positions of his father - and remain the crown prince of the GOP???

Isn't our goal

to get 61 Dr. No senators in office? If we can't even count on Rand to be 1, how are we going to 61?

Maybe Rand is playing the game, I don't know. What I know, is the reason I support Dr. No the 1st, is because he refused to play the game. That is why his supporters are so enthused. Remember the word that he used to describe himself? The word that echoed through the halls and homes of America...CONSISTENT. He votes on principal, he votes how he says he will vote, he believes in what he votes for. That is why his following is so devoted, because for the first time in most of our lives WE BELIEVE HIM!

It took Ron to 76 years old playing this game to get here

many people will not vote for Ron simply because of age. Rand cannot come out of the gate swinging, or they will put so much money against him, you will forget the name Rand Paul. People are still brainwashed by the media, the money backing the elites could make most of the world believe the earth was flat again. This is no poor man's game, we are going against all the money in the world, we can't show our cards, we don't have the money to. Let Rand work how he needs to work it, let's all quit guessing we know what the hell is going on and do what we can control.

I'm sorry again my friend,

I'm sorry again my friend, Ron Paul did never play the game, he was always as he is now, therefor no regrets.

Where in the hell did you come from?

You ain't been around long...but you have this Ron Paul thing down like this is your second or third go around.

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

I have been following Dr.

I have been following Dr. Paul since 2004 if I remember, it started with a comment by him on a documentary program regarding the Patriot Act, and I remember when he said, it was something like this "They tried to force it saying that it was urgent, when they normally do that then it must be bad, so we had no time to read it and it was not difficult to vote against it." I have followed him since that day.

You ere earlier than me as it took until 2005

to shake off the red haze. It was fully gone by 2008 when my wife ran as a delegate in the State Primary and we spent our weekends walking our precinct and stuffing mailbox's. She didn't win as she was "declared" for Ron Paul...but she came close being at the top of the ballot!

I had really hoped and expected that Rand would mirror Ron's intransigence in the Senate...and that the People of Kentucky would value such a gem...instead they have a cubit zirconium....looks like (and sometimes sounds like) the real thing...but it ain't.

Rand was always my natural assumption for heir apparent to the movements leadership, now I see that he's holding a candle with no wick. What a bitch.

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Last time I checked Dr. Paul

Last time I checked Dr. Paul was running as a GOP candidate not Rand Paul, the battles you are talking about has nothing to do with Dr. Paul. You want to vote for Rand Paul, fine, do it when he runs for office.
Beside that, no one gave you the authority to call other members stupid, so you can't call your self smart either.

Thing is Remy74

I know how it works. The bashing of Rand starts early to plant the seed for when he runs for President someday, I am not new to the game. I am not going to sit here and let people bash Rand when I know his intentions are good to try and diffuse Rand before he can even run for President someday. I am awake, noone can put me to sleep, I can sift through garbage nonsense like I get paid to do it. I see through the nonsense and breath the truth. No son pisses on his father who has fought for 30 years alone, it does not happen, I can smell bullshit a mile away. I am not saying you are a bullshitter, but if you believe Rand is not for us, you are still asleep. I appreciate anything you do to help forward progress towards restoring this country is my closing statement.

I understand what you are

I understand what you are trying to say, but you can't force it my friend. First time I knew about Rand Paul was his speech on CPAC, and I liked it a lot so I started looking for more about Rand Paul, and I'm sorry to say that he is not like his father, I'm sorry for that but this is reality.

Now think about Santorum at the last debate for a moment, would you like to have Rand Paul in the same position saying that I have voted for this and that and I admit that I was wrong?

Please think about it, think about Dr. Paul and Rand Paul as values not as persons that are related, which one would you vote for if they were running now as candidates? Please think about it and you will see what I mean.

"Now think about Santorum at the last debate for a moment, would you like to have Rand Paul in the same position saying that I have voted for this and that and I admit that I was wrong?"

He is working the system Remy

would you piss on everything your father gave you if he was a good father, you might piss on it if he was a bad father, yes, but Ron most likely was a great father. C'mon Remy, the game changers want you to go against Rand, stay awake, let Rand be, it is a different game now with the internet, the cards evened out. Fight the system, the last person you need to worry about is Rand, he is fighting the system on the inside, we can assume nothing, because we know nothing. I don't want you to be fooled by the bashers, and don't worry I don't work for the New World Order dickheads.

It's all about principles for

It's all about principles for me, believe me, if Rand Paul was as his father, then the support for young Rand would be huge.

If Rand steps up and says that he was wrong when said what he said and about the votes that he voted and wants to follow his father teachings then I will be back him up all the way... I don't have anything against persons, it's all about connecting to principles for me.

You are full of assumptive crap.

And in as much as I'd LOVE....not like....LOVE...to believe what you say is true, it still would leave me with the conundrum of having to except that lies and deceit are OK for my leader to employ in order to become leader, and then I'd have to believe that he would somehow forget how to do this when all the marbles are finally in his hand and the new challenge is to keep them there.

I cry bullshit. Liars lie forever.

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Oh boy...

Rand lost some serious liberty points on this one.
idk, we dont know the full context of what Rand might be dealing with in the environment that he's in.
Nonetheless, that does not change the fact that Rand gave in on this one. Dissapointed to say the least - but this aint no libertarian hereditary rule; so that if Rand proves to be less than whats needed, there are OTHERS who we may replace him with.
Like ADAM KOKESH perhaps?
Not as resolute as his father huh? Well, he's better than most, but he still has ways to go to match his fathers courage in standing strong to his principles NO MATTER WHAT.

Rand is pretty milquetoast

Rand is pretty milquetoast here. On the bright side, his views are far too dovish for the likes of Hannity and Rush. For this reason, I think when push comes to shove Rand's conservative fans will abandon him in a pinch.

I want to understand this

Rand Paul says that he had to choose between three options, doing nothing, voting for sanctions or voting for a war with Iran.
Rand Paul says that he had to do something and because he does not believe on preemptive war then he voted for sanctions on Iran.

Are my facts here correct? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But if I'm right, then help me here:
Israel says that Iran does not have a nuclear weapon, USA says Iran does not have a nuclear weapon, yet Rand Paul votes for sanctions on Iran.

Did Dr. Ron Paul not say that sanctions are an act of war? Does that mean that Rand Paul is already a pro-Iran-war guy?

Rand lost me forever on this crap...

Apparently the Apple Tree is located on a long and steeply sloping hillside...

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Rand lost me since I found out

Rand lost me since I found out that he voted to rise the debt ceiling, but some members continued to argue that Rand is like Dr. Paul which I do not believe so I have been called names.

Dr. Paul is truly unique...he is truly incorruptible.

Thanks for the video hurricanepaul.

Don't forget Rand's support

Don't forget Rand's support for the Libya No-Fly Zone.

Oh Jeez

I didn't even know about that!

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

He was one of the Senators

He was one of the Senators who agreed to the unanimous consent requirement calling for said zone......though he later tried to explain that he misunderstood or something. O'Donnell (not a great source, of course) really attacked him for his hypocrisy on this. More here:
