*** Perhaps We Can Help Dr. Paul with More Emotional Metaphors, Analogies, and Similes ***

0 votes

We do know that when communicating with others, they are motived by emotion and they react to avoid pain or gain pleasure. It has occurred to me (and may have occurred to you) while listening to our favorite hero (Ron Paul), that some of his ideas just might benefit from more emotional Metaphors, Analogies and/or Similes.

My goal here is to create an environment where our collective emotional intellect can make some critical recommendations for driving our hero's messages into the collective consciousness of this country.

Much of what Dr. Paul has to say requires some understanding of history, economics, mathematics, sociology, and/or common sense. Let's face it, many American voters cannot understand some of what he means or says. Certainly, they do not feel the emotion of what he says! The strongest candidates so far have been trying to connect to people's emotions. When a child is missing, every parent can easily put themselves in the position of either the missing child or her parents! There is no guesswork and the concept hits home!

Please, if you can, identify concepts such as the following, and then try to come up with a more emotional or vivid expression. I'll give one example, but I am sure our collective emotional intellect will come up with much better examples:

============
[Concept One]
Dr. Paul says something like:
They don't attack us because we are free and prosperous, they attack us because we are over there.

How About:
They don't attack us because we are free and prosperous, they attack us because we have manipulated their governments, terrified their children, destroyed their neighborhoods, and killed their relatives.

===========
[Concept Two]
Dr. Paul says something like:
History shows us that all great empires eventually collapse from the erosion of their currency.

Can You Improve that?

==========
Dr. Paul says something like:
How would we like it if China had bases in Mexico and Cuba and troops here telling us how to live.

Can You Improve that?

==========
Please try to come up with other Ron Paul statements or concepts and try to improve them. Even if he does not choose to use them, we can use them in our own interactions with others.

Thanks

"They don't attack us

"They don't attack us because we're free and prosperous, they attack us because we're over there."

Instead, Dr. Paul should highlight the hypocrisy of the neocon position.

"I'm taking marching orders from the terrorists? Don't you contend that contend that we are attacked because we're free and prosperous? Isn't your proposed solution is to make Americans less free and less prosperous? And isn't that EXACTLY what the enemies of freedom want?"

Or more simply,

"You supports defending against attacks on American freedom and wealth by reducing American freedom and wealth?"

Here's the strategy for Ron Paul

ABC just said people want the candidates to talk about the economy. The number one thing to say is "could you take care of your bills if your take home pay went up 30%? Yes? Well, I can do that for you by advocating that we eliminate the income tax. You can take care of your money issues if you didn't have to finance Washington on every harebrained spending program they dream up!

I think the trick is to tell people how to feel

Make the leap from putting yourself in someone else's shoes to how they should feel in those shoes for them. Then, they don't have to do the thinking part at all.

Defend Liberty!

He should drop that

His line about how we would feel in their shoes doesn't work at all. He should drop it. I myself have a problem envisioning it when he talked about it during the debate. He shouldnt ask people to think so abstractly during a debate.

Concept two

History shows us that countries that overextend themselves around the world militarily resort to devaluing the currency to finance their exploits, thereby causing the economy to gradually but inevitably collapse. Our declining dollar is reflecting this. I want to turn it around through sound monetary policy and sound foreign policy.

a sixth grader could understand this book

http://www.amazon.com/Whatever-Happened-Explanation-Economic...

This book, __Whatever Happened to Penny Candy?__ is a great introduction to economics, inflation, and how it affects us. I find that most people don't even understand what inflation is. They think inflation is an increase in prices instead of recognizing that the price increase is a *result* of inflation. They don't understand the role of the Federal Reserve at all. Perhaps we can get permission to reproduce excerpts of this book in a Ron Paul Slim Jim to help people understand the economy in simplistic terms. I wouldn't at all be surprised if the author is a Ron Paul supporter.

Jesus is my Lord and my God, and Ron Paul, champion of all things freedom, including religion and the free exercise thereof, is my choice for president.

Concept one:

Concept one:

They attack us because they are incensed that we are on their holy lands. They don't like our way of life anyway, but this is what gives them the motivation them to come all the way over here and harm us. Therefore, the solution is not to keep going back. That just perpetuates the terrorism. It's a vicious cycle we're in, and we have to step out of it. It's very easy to step out of the vicious cycle if we just follow the Constitution. That's the best way to minimize the threat of terrorism and save hundreds of billions of dollars in the process.

Good, but not sound bite

Good, but not sound bite material. In one sentence, what are you trying to say?

My advice is don't waste your time

No advice on here ever gets to him. It's basically just venting and spinning your wheels.

We can still use them in our own interactions.

.we can use them in our own interactions with others.

Thanks
