They still passed the "assault weapons ban" and it was signed into law by Bill Clinton. (later to expire in 2004)
The camera kept panning to Chuckie Shumer. I wonder what was going through his mind while listening to this.

Of course, it's also proof here that testimony, as is most testimony is NOT about finding out information, it is about political posturing and "getting things on the record."
