#1 problem for Ron Paul's campaign is ....
I haven't been interested in politics for the last 30 years but tonight learned a lot from the debates. Here is what I see as RP's biggest problem.
Ron Paul is too real and too much of a gentleman for this dirty game of Presidential politics. To get more people to actually vote for him he would have to tell lies like the rest of the candidates and promise them things he knows he can't deliver and he won't do that. I respect him immensely for this but I don't think it will win an election for President.
I learned tonight that politics is very closely related to religion because for the most part PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO HEAR THE TRUTH! They want people to lie to them. Tell us how great a country America is! How strong we are! How we are unstoppable and how no one can pull us down! How our economy will roll on forever! - Reminds one of Rome before it fell. We as a people just don't want to hear the REAL TRUTH because it is too painful. Tell them our deficit is NINE TRILLION DOLLARS and they respond, " oh that is just on paper, no big deal as we won't have to repay it !" We are spending our country into oblivion? No way! Just political propaganda and we don't like that kind of NEGATIVE TALK!
Ron Paul was voted the most negative candidate in Iowa in one poll. How ridiculous is that? The only candidate that tells the truth and gives the people real hope and people think he is "too negative"!
It is the same with religion. There are only a small number of people who will truly embrace the truth of the Bible and really study it and live it out. It is the best selling and most important book in the history of the world yet it is constantly misinterpreted and ridiculed. Why? Because people like being lied too! They want to live like the devil and go to heaven when they die. Same as in politics now. We want to spend, spend, spend and never seriously examine our books to see what we can afford. This is what the Bible teaches us also that "AS WE SOW, SOW SHALL WE REAP!"
Just as in this world, we can't live in fantasyland forever. The day of reckoning for this country is coming. I think it is too late for people to have ears to hear what Ron Paul is saying. Sure maybe he will get 10-15% to listen to the truth but it won't be enough because people are so conditioned to believe the lies.
I so much want Ron Paul to win and give this country what it needs. A man who will have the courage to tell the truth and not compromise his beliefs. But I think we are not ready for that now.
Maybe after the collapse but by then it may be too late.
I won't let this destroy me though as I have the TRUTH of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to withhold me through these times. I didn't want to hear the truth either for most of my life but thankfully my eyes were forced open and I was enable by His grace to embrace Him. Most won't accept this truth and will reject it just like many people will reject Ron Paul's truth. It is a horrible shame but this is where we are at now as a nation. We can't accept the truth that we are the biggest debtor nation in the history of the world and that we are about to self-destruct.
I pray the some how Ron Paul's message will be heard by us all.
He is a man of integrity, compassion and courage but I think his truth message is too much for most to hear.
Now go ahead and exclude this message like Fox News does.

is the constant bombardment of government indoctrination
from your first schooling you were taught that the government is necessary to "help" you, to "protect" you, to "solve problems".
Echoed by almsot every paper who every time they see a problem whine, "What is the government going to do about it?" ignoring that many times the government caused the problem in the first place.
Reinforced by most films and TV and books with themes having to do with needing more government, or government, if it goes wrong, goes wrong only because there are not the "right" people involved (not the inherent limitations of mortals trying to dictate to 300M unique individuals).
It is this that we face when we are ignored by the media. It is this we face when we are called "passive racists". It is this we face when we are called "naive".
People do not understand that man can be free and it would benefit us all. If they did, there would be a

I think the biggest problem is
exactly what you said California - I was one of those "sheeple" because I honestly did not know any better. I fell under the spell of the "War On Terror" because I didn't even think to question what was coming out of the boob tube - I mean this is America isn't it?
I remember my prayers last year being more along the line of Thanking God that I was born in this country, now my prayers are more along the line of "Lord, Save us from ourselves!"
Jesus said "Let those have ears to hear, let them listen"
If people will just open their ears for a milisecond, and let some of the truth come through, they will start to see things with a different set of eyes then they had before.
If people would just stop for a second, stop being so busy with their jobs, families, and keeping up with the Jones's - and just listen, they may just wake up like I did.
Being the Christian that I am, I feel like the Lord led me to the truth on purpose. I have in turn spent time with my family speaking the truth to them. They are now all out spreading the news about Dr. Paul. The understand what the Fed Reserve is, what a fiat money system is, how war is profiltable to the powers that be, what globalism is, and why you cannot continue to have a war against a philosophy IE: The war on terror.
We can't put people down for living in the dark, but I firmly believe that once we are educated enough to see all the lies perpetrated (like on last nights debate) by those who would seek to rule us, it is our duty to inform those in our inner circles and beyond.
Someone posted a very good comment about every one of thos MEN on stage with the exception of Dr. Paul thinking that we the PEOPLE were beneath them. That we are just their serfs to be slaved over - and that is true.
If it were not true, they would not sit there and LAUGH at the VERY SERIOUS issues we are facing. They would not sit there and LAUGH when someone gives a plausible solution. Instead they just feed the American people with more of the same.
None of the men on that panel last night with the exception of Dr. Paul gives a damn about those of us living paycheck to paycheck. Why should they?
I just hope that enough of us will be woken up before the general election.
I just pray that Ron Paul will be the one who leads this country back to where it HAS to be to survive.
I think Bill Mahr was right.....If Americans were smarter,Ron Pa
ul would be leading...People are dumb..they go for candidates that lie,tax and regulate themselves to death and send their kids to die in bullshit wars...Maybe it's time to work for the intelligent 5-10% of American's to move into 1 or 2 states and then declare their right to secede...We're tired of being governed by idiots....

You might be on to something
You might be on to something here.
If anything if we all move to 1 state and start businesses and trade and talk with people we could take over most of public office and lead by example to show the country how they could be living, and the kicker being to do it all without federal subsidies so that when we ignore unconsititutional federal laws and they refuse subsidies to show their "power" we could thumb our nose at them and say, "fine we don't really need them anyway, unlike the federal government our state economy is solvent and does not require assistance from your interventionist policy." As a matter of fact as soon as we took office I would take all state subsidies and put them in an investment fund to offset the cost of income taxes of all the residents of that state.
This would make Americans really look at where the standard of living is better and say, "How come the people in that state are doing so much better than me?". People are mostly scared because they need to see the eventual results in action first before they will buy into it as our income tax and other policies have been damn near the same for since 1913.
Really folks if we pulled it off the establishment and the Federal government would probably snicker and think "it's cute" and ignore it and then before too long it would be too late to stop.
The foundations and principle of the "Union of the states" is that the states may govern themselves as they please as long as they do not infringe upon the rights of the other states.
Let us be governed by who we want to be governed and do it at a local and state level if we cannot get a Ron Paul presidency.
So I guess the real question is can we all agree on a state to move to?

#1 problem
The American people - who refuse to believe they've been had. A dollar crash is the only thing that will get this segment's attention to stop sitting on their brains and get up and start walking on two feet. If the average American can't see a problem with a Canadian dollar excelling against the 'world's greatest economic engine' dollar they are not ready for truth.
Dr Paul has the right message and his time is very soon
I hate to be a fearmonger, but our economy is in very serious trouble. If you have followed at all the mortgage meltdown and its affects on the financial instituions, it is very evident. The fallout from failing banks etc is only now being prevented by foreign companies coming in (just this past month) to "invest" in these institutions.
As this ripple continues to infiltrate throughout our faux dollar based economy, more and more people will realize that we are in very big trouble and Ron Paul's voice will be heard loud and clear. There is a time for all things and while I wish our economic state did not have the hurt its people, sometimes this is really the only way a truly revolutionary message will be heard.
Follow the WSJ if you want to see what is really happening in our economy. I am amazed that our pool of presidential candidates (except for Paul) make no mention of the bank bailouts that our happening as we speak (December).
Keep fighting for truth and liberty!
You're right - a Kondratiev winter is about to begin.
You're right - a Kondratiev winter is about to begin. We have a nearly complete Elliot 5 wave move from the 1982 bear market low.
25 year expansion phases followed by a contraction phase about 62% as long.
The last two K-wave winters lasted 13 (1929-1942) & 16 years (1966-1982), respectively.
This one is only likely to be worse, since there is so much personal & federal debt to begin with.
In previous K-wave springs & summers, debt never increased so much.
It's common sense really, if you can't at least stop adding to the debt during a long expansion phase, what happens during the inevitable contraction phase?
That's the whole crux of the issue RP talks a lot about. The Keynesians, Greenspans & Bernankes of the world think they can print their way out of anything, and use cheaper money to service, but not pay down, old debt.
Even if he is a losing candidate, RP is sure going to be in a position to say, "I told you so"
independents
I think our biggest challenge is winning the independent vote in the primaries. A lot of these early independents can chose to participate in either party. I fear a lot of that is going to Obama right now to spite Hillary. We need to convert more of the independents to our campaign. I expect us to do much better in NH.
Not this year
The GOP declined to offer its ballot to independents this year. Independent registration is available in 25 states. In CA Independents have a choice of Democrat: Clinton, Edwards, Obama and Richardson, and American Independent (AKA Constitution Party in other states).
One of the complaints between RPs campaign and the rEVOLution is some RP supporters, like me, will not re-register GOP for Ron Paul. In CA where nearly 30% of registered voters are Independent, this is a problem as you might guess.
Independents believe, like RP, that they will determine the election and why they will not re-register. We believe RP is doing more for the GOP than visa versa, and we realize we are enabling him, and that's something the campaign should appreciate, not snub independents.
WE ARE GOING TO WIN!

ideas happen quickly but change happens slowly. ron paul is sending out hints about "what reality is." the system, though, is large and has a lot of inertia.
enjoy the campaign! only 1 of the remaining 8, or so, "will win!"
Revolutionary propositions require extraordinary persuasion.
Carl Sagan said, "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof."
In the matter at hand, it's more like,
"Revolutionary propositions require extraordinary persuasion."
I say again: sharpen the message, and deliver it in a way that will get the attention of a broader audience, or the game is over.
I too believe that true
I too believe that true salvation is a gift from God above. Ron Paul believes this way too, and has kept God's Word in his heart despite outside antagonism and attacks on his very soul.
But it's not about anything Dr Paul has to change in his message or delivery.
The majority of ears in this country are just not open to hear the truth. This, our greatest fear has come to pass.

Sure we see more people every day coming to RP's side. But sheer numbers of people...will we ever get there?
Or has the establishment completed its goal with utter disdain for human God-given rights?
We fight the battles because we stand alongside our hero and can't stand to see him fight alone. But God alone knows and will determine the final outcome. May He bless us all in the days ahead.

it's an uphill battle
For Ron Paul to get up and tell them that everything they thought they knew is wrong about:
foreign policy
terrorism
nuclear weapons
Iraq
Pakistan
Iran
farm subsidies
the United Nations
money
the Federal Reserve
the income tax
the IRS
the CIA
the FBI
the Department of Education
the war on drugs
the Constitution
civil rights
the civil war
world war II
It's a shock to people, and it takes a while to sink in. But, it is sinking in, slowly. That's what a real leader does, turns people around and leads them in the right direction. He is steadily moving up in the polls. Back in June when Giuliani attacked him on 9/11, Giuliani got a huge boost from that exchange. Six months later people have thought about it and now Rudy is hurting.
There is a difficult task at hand
It is sad that Ron Paul is not higher in the polls. That his message is not promoted in the media like the other candidates. That the media call this great man kook and other vile names. If Dr. Paul was treated with the respect he deserves I am very confident that his popularity would be much much higher. Dear supporter may your efforts to get Dr. Paul elected be as smooth as your words.

I completely disagree. The
I completely disagree. The body of Paul's constituency needs all organs, including the militants. This campaign is about dissent and dissent requires a fair amount of id-based militancy, a "rage against the machine" mentality. If it were not for the Paulestinians, Paul's name recognition would not be where it is right now.
Dr. Paul is the "Voice for the voiceless"....
"....You be tha spark
That set all tha prarie fires on
Make tha masses a mastodon path
To trample tha fascists on....."
"....You see tha powerful got nervous
Cause he refused to be their servant
'Cause he spit truth
That shook heads...."

And Orwell's hell a terror era coming through
But this little brother's watching you too".
