Third Party
Flame me, I don't care. But I really believe that Dr. Paul will inevitably be forced to run as a 3rd party candidate. As optimistic as I am that he can win this nomination as a republican, a certain reality has to set in at some point when you realize that the entire MSM is against him, the republican establishment as it stands today is against him, and he simply isn't getting the respect and attention he deserves.
I think no matter what happens in the upcoming primaries, Ron Paul and his message is going to continue to spread and get stronger and stronger and stronger. Never has there been a candidate who has raised as much money as he has or has had the kind of genuine support of so many people at such an early stage in the process. No matter who may end up winning the nomination on either side, I think RP and his stance on so many issues is completely different from anyone else out there. He speaks to so many people and he can absolutely win this thing as an independent, in my opinion.
The reason Ross Perot received 19% of the vote in '92 was because he was able to fund his campaign and make a serious run. However, he dropped out during the summer and then came back into the race and STILL got 19%. If RP continued to run without wavering, he could absolutely win this thing. We have contributed so much to Dr. Paul's campaign thus far and will continue to do so, that he will absolutely be able to compete financially with the big boys every step of the way. He does not NEED the support of the republican party or ANY party, because his message goes beyond that nonsense.
My biggest concern as a supporter is that everyone is putting all their hope on these upcoming primaries. In the long run, they do not matter. I am such a huge supporter of RP, however, I myself, cannot even VOTE for him in these damn primaries because I wasn't able to switch my party affiliation in time. But rest assured, come November, I will be there at the polls. The point is, how many others like myself are in this situation?
I just think we need to stay positive and push for this campaign to continue, no matter what happens on Tuesday or on Super Tuesday. Stay focussed, stay positive, and we can win. Whether he runs as a republican or libertarian or independent, It does not matter. The revolution should still continue....

Not me
1st, let me say this post is not me. He spells his name wrong.
Ron Paul would have to pull out of the race before the conventions. This election will not be decided untill then. We need to keep up our slow but steady work to enlighten people.

Economy will decide if Paul can win or not
Many expert economists are predicting a massive U.S. recession in 2008 due to the housing bubble, stock market bubble and dollar collapse. In the 1st week of 2008 the markets have lost around half of all their gains from 2007! Nobody is talking about this! Oil just hit $100 a barrel and gold is $863/ounce (all time record).
If this continues then it WILL help Ron Paul dramatically as long as he can hang in there as long as possible. I totally agree that his chances are slim for getting the Republican nomination but even if he doesn't he can run as a libertarian.
If the economy keeps tanking people will turn to the one man who knows how to fix it!
According to Saxon Bank they think this exact scenario WILL occur and vault Ron Paul to Presidential victory. See link below.

a third party run would seem
a third party run would seem to create more problems than it would solve. My two cents worth.
Ross Perot was actually ahead in the polls before he bowed out
Ross Perot was actually *leading* in the polls before he bowed out.
It also didn't help that he gave as his reason that kooky story about Republican party operatives trying to ruin his daughter's wedding, either (even if it actually had been true).
Most insiders think Ross Perot ran mainly to: 1) spread his opinions, and 2) prevent Bush's re-election. Perot & Bush had clashed repeatedly in the past over Southeast Asia MIA/POW issues.
Too bad Mike Bloomberg is a socialist. Nothing to stop him from running as RP's VP and funding he entire campaign himself.
But 50-state ballot access would be a big problem for anything but the LP.
Some have determined that ballot access restrictions alone would likely dissuade Bloomberg from attempting an independent run this late in the game.

Let's just ride this storm out. The other guys are already doing a good job of destroying each other. Vigilance combined with patience is our best bet.
Listen Carefully To The Doc
Ron Paul said when asked about this, "Well it depends on what my supporters do with me". He'll go on the third party ticket if we put him there. In the meantime lets let him get as much exposure as he can in these so called debates and plan on putting him on the third party ticket.
We have the money to put him there when we need to.

Third party
I believe a third party is his best bet..he is unlikely to get the republican nod because of current conditions..a deadlocked convention could change that dramatically...I believe him when he says he will not run third party..he is 72 and that would take a lot of energy, not to mention money..he has already stated the difficulties of a third party run..But it wouldn't surprise me to see a third and even a fourth party run this year, and perhaps the formation of an entire new political party, possibly lead by Paulites
new party
I was wondering about that myself. It would be great to have a party that combined the Libertarian and Constitutional parties, traditional conservatives, as well as maybe some of the leftist people too, like the Greens and Kucinich supporters. Not an idealogical party, but an anti-establishment party. We could fight to end the two-party system (or one party, two branches), and then go about our merry ways.
If it happens, it
If it happens, it happens.
The GOP needs to understand that they really only ever had two choices: Ron Paul or the Democratic nominee. Paul holds all the cards. He can make them or break them -- it's up to them. They can start backing him PRONTO and win, or they can keep dismissing him and be derailed by a 3rd-party spoiler run.
"If you love something, set it free; if it comes back it's yours, if it doesn't, it never was."
I've always been a Republican, but I'm willing to see the party die if that means it will come back stronger, committed to its classic ideals.

The opposite of freedom is slavery; if I am 99% free, then I am part slave, which is like being "a little bit pregnant." Freedom versus slavery is a zero-sum game.
