Still Winless, Upbeat Ron Paul Vows to Keep Picking Up Delegates

Ron Paul may not have been a major player in tonight’s primaries in Michigan and Arizona, but he promised to continue to be noisy in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

The congressman, speaking at a boisterous rally in Springfield, Va., addressed the fact that his campaign continues to be winless at 0-11.

“Everyone keeps asking me about winning states,” said Paul. “We are winning delegates, and that’s what counts.”

Afterwards in an interview with CNN, the Texas congressman was more candid, saying that he wished he could have done a lot better tonight, but that he is proud of the strong support he continues to receive — especially from young people.

Paul was introduced by his son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who joked that he’s only there for a short time while the Transportation Safety Administration let him out.

What's up with some winner-take-all states?

I thought the GOP mandated that all states were going to be PROPORTIONAL this time around.

Unlike in 2008 when it was winner-take-all for every state.

Dirty tricks are going on to help Romney.

I think the RNC ordered him to quit in 2008 and promised him the nomination this year.

Since this would be illegal - and Romney knows it - the RNC MUST MAKE SURE ROMNEY WINS or he will expose the illegal scam to the media.

Since this would completely ruin the GOP, Romney WILL win.

It's dirty rotten politics.

There is no real passion for Romney.

If you want to see passion then you would watch Ron Paul after-causus speeches.

THAT is passion.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Soooo.....how many delegates then?

How many do we have so far?

Depends if you can do simple addition. Romney: 93 Paul: 82

http://www.supertuesday.us/official-delegate-count/

Media not using logic to practice addition.

Delegates from New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, and Nevada, and extrapolate the caucus states’ delegates using SuperTuesday.us Estimates:

Total Delegates (IA, NH, SC, FL, NV, MN, CO, ME)
Romney: 93 (6, 7, 2, 50, 14, 2, 7, 5)
Paul: 82 (13, 3, 0, 0, 5, 28, 17, 16)
Gingrich: 29 (0, 0, 23, 0, 6, 0, 0, 0)
Santorum: 25 (6, 0, 0, 0, 3, 7, 9, 0)
Unpledged: 14 (3, 2, 0, 0, 0, 3, 3, 3)

*Unpledged includes Huntsman’s delegates in NH as well as unbound party leader delegates in certain states.
The caucus/convention process for selecting delegates has plenty of quirks along the way – the eventual delegates could be more evenly dispersed or could skew even more heavily to Paul as the majority candidate. But this is a far more accurate portrayal of the true state of play than allocating delegates proportionately to the straw poll or entirely to the straw poll leader.

The Media outlets have different numbers. Washington Times , Washington Post, Associated Press, CNN , Fox News, and the New York Times have all failed completely at simple math. We have counted it over and over again and come up with these figures.

You have to look at everything and use common sense and forget what the idiot box says.
There are going to be many battles fought legal and otherwise for all levels of delegates from the allocation that will kill winner take all causes by the scum in the GOP trying to fix it for Romney to the tools that will conspire and devise every manner of evil trick, rule change and lie to try to keep Paul supporters from gaining the upper hand. They will lose and we will win.

Was this the count before?

Was this the count before Arizona and Michigan?, If they allow winner take all where are we with the Az totals? To be accurate to date please add Michigan to your totals chart.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Nah--Ron Paul peeps are too

When Ron Talks About Delegates

When Ron Paul talks about delegates, he not thinking about the national number, but his supporter becoming delegates to the county, district or state conventions that finally elects delegates to the national GOP convention in Tampa. It starts at the local level. That is why many people on Daily Paul continues to harp on becoming a delegate. In caucus states is where Ron Paul supporters are being elected delegates to their county convention. If you just show up to vote and leave, then that doesn't help Ron. Now getting elected as a delegate to your county or state convention, that is a BIG help for Ron Paul of getting the nomination for the Republican Party. You need to learn on how to become a delegate in your state if you want to make the difference. The voting for a candidate during the primary or caucus is just a straw poll.

Edit: From the Blue Republican site on how to process works on becoming a delegate and how Ron Paul can win the nomination at the National GOP convention:

Update

Actually the Texas congressman won no Arizona delegates, which is a winner-take-all state, and early returns suggested he will not nab any from Michigan, where he did not appear to lead in any congressional districts or reach the minimum 15 percent statewide threshold to get a delegate.

So far???

RS was asking how many so far? As in from the beginning to this day? i posted a comment on a thread asking this earlier. Does anyone here know the actual count so far??

Obama = O.ne B.ig A.ss M.istake A.merica

The problem is many of the states we did well in have not had...

their County Conventions yet to choose their delegates. So until we actually get to the National Convention, we will not truly know how many delegates we have until there's an "open" Convention. We must hope that Romney does not get the required 1,144 delegates. And at the National Convention, we must wish for a second ballot at least.

Got a few from Mich and zero

“They keep asking about

“They keep asking about winning particular states in this campaign, but guess what? We’re still winning a lot of delegates,” Paul said. “Winning the primaries is very, very important. But winning the general election will also be very, very important. It is our message that appeals to independents and Democrats and the Republican base.”
