OMG... Is this true?
My BF just told me that there is a new law stating that anyone who has ever been diagnosed with ANY kind of mental issue or uses ANY kind of prescription drug that alters anything to do with your mind that you are no longer able to get a gun.
Ok, now I know at first thought this sounds great and even like a no-brainer....except that about 5 years ago I was having trouble sleeping and had general fatigue. The Doctor I was seeing at that time told me I was drepressed and proscribed Lexapro..(an anti-drepressant) which didn't help and my new Doctor took me off of. (turns out I was slightly anemic) but it's in my medical records that I was diagnosed as mentally depressed. I also have suffered from extremely bad migraine headaches which I have to take certain medicines for...that may or may not be considered mind altering.
My Son was also mis-diagnosed with ADD and was on meds for a short time...(he's off them now) so my question is...does that mean he will be unable to get a gun when he becomes an adult too?
Think of all the kids that are quickly diagnosed with ADD or ADHD now....
Anyone got any insight on this?

I'm NOT a lawyer, but it seems to me unless your "mental illness" has been "adjudicated" (that is heard before a court) this bill has no impact on the situations you describe here.
I cannot comment on how this affects those in the military with PTSD as it may be possible some sort of hearing may be required to determine treatment is necessary. (I simply know nothing about it)
It is good to have people following these bills and warning us about the trouble they will cause. But understand that 80%+ of you will take what I said above as truthful and never bother reading the bill or researching for yourself. These "watchdogs" know this and will distort truth just like the polititians they claim to battle.
Alternative to Drugs
Get yourself or your friends and family off these mind altering drugs. Yes there is a solution that is medically researched and administered by Dr.s that most Dr.s don't know about. Read the information and then tell your Dr. about it. Tell your doc you want him to administer this non drug program for depression or ADD/ADHD. The science and research is real and the results are awesome.

Oh yes, I have seen this video an many like it. This is how they plan on controlling the masses, along with the violence that comes from taking these drugs. I remember a time when I would learn about someone becoming depressed and tragically going into the woods and shooting themselves, or hanging themselves. Now after the Dx and the psych drugs they take as many people with them before taking themselves out. The FDA, and big Pharma knows this. I had to laugh at Romney coming to the defense of big Pharma last night in the debate. Guess I know where his stocks are invested.

The fact of the matter is these "lawmakers" have absolutely no Constitutional authority to pass this kind of legislation. Their contrived laws violate the Constitution. A permit to carry a concealed firearm for example is totally bogus. No one is really "required by law" to obtain and carry a permit on your person in order to carry a concealed firearm. This state statute and many others are enforced by means of a tortured interpretation of the interstate commerce laws.
Is McCain a victim of this?
If returning veterans diagnosed with PTSD aren't allowed to own simple handguns how is it that Sen. McCain is allowed to run for a position that puts him in control of nuclear weapons? If there is a poster child for the causes of PTSD I'd have to think it's Sen. McCain (years as a POW, daily torture, etc.). I believe he said in a debate that he owned a gun (I could be mistaken on that). Wonder if he voted for that act?

mccain stated openly on a recent debate that he does not own a gun. However, I would bet my bottom dollar that he does have firearms at his place of residence, most likely a shotgun or perhaps a handgun or two.
His senatorial voting record on the Second Amendment is absolutely horrible.

This subject is quite relevant. The most recent post I have found regarding the 'Veterans Disarmament Act' states that it passed the Senate and is now awaiting (p)resident Bush's signature to become law.
The law deals a low blow to veterans. Civilians will likely be included after this law has been accepted by the sheep.

This is all so clear. Why do you think we have an incredibly rising rate of school kids being Dx with bogus mental illness. So they can be drugged. They just passed a law in Massachusetts. Every child (starting at age two) on welfare will now be screened at their yearly physical with a questionier to find an underlying mental illness. Of course its families on medicaid (welfare) After the screen the PED will decide if they need a referral to a shrink, who will of course prescribe the psych drug. Its everywhere. If the parent refuses the sceening my guess would be a call into DSS/CPS for medical neglect. They will be forced to do what the Good Doctor says or lose custody of their child. Did anyone see on the news a few weeks back how parents in New Jersey were being forced to vaccinate their children or go to jail. They had armed police with attack dogs at the courthouse. The prochoice goups showed up to try and let the parents know they could claim religious exemptions. They were held off by the police from entering the courhouse so the parents could not be informed of their right to refuse. The Police State has already arrived. Ron Paul is the only hope for Us. There is no more time left. In fact this is how I came to know of Ron Paul. My granddauggter became austistic from the mercury in the mandated vacccines. It was through the anti vaccination groups I heard about Ron Paul

I did read about the truly disgusting display of ignorance of the difference between 'law' and 'recommendation' as was witnessed in New Jersey recently. I have yet to read what "law" was being enforced. Yet the uninformed parents were bullied and intimidated (armed cops and dogs, for crying out loud) into injecting their children with vaccines which are no more mandated than are daily vitamins and exercise. Education is the key to nipping hysteria in the bud. I have spent many hours researching the 'alternative' views of vaccines. I choose to no longer accept any prophylactic vaccines based on my research. If a worried parent states that you, by not vaccinating your child, are endangering their children through risk of exposure, remind them that their child will have already had the 'jab', so they will be protected. Logic is not king in those sorts of discussions, but it just might work. My sympathies to anyone affected by unnecessary vaccination cocktails, directly or otherwise.
