Rawesome Foods' James Stewart Arrested on $1 Million Warrant

(NaturalNews) Rawesome Foods defendants James Steward and Sharon Palmer were ambushed in California court yesterday when they appeared for a preliminary hearing about the multiple felony charges that have been ludicrously placed against them for engaging in farm-fresh food production and distribution. In court, they were ambushed with a $1 million arrest warrant (James) and a $2 million arrest warrant (Sharon), then handcuffed and marched away by agents of the corrupt state.

This appears to all be part of California's open war on family farming and real food. Observers present at the hearing described the ambush as something "done out of pure unadulterated intimidation" by a rogue government that has abandoned all law.

For some reason the Feds are

For some reason the Feds are pushing the states to persecute fresh foods producers. Raw milk is legal in Pennsylvania as well as California, but the state is attempting to force everyone out of the business here as well.

I and my family have drunk raw milk for years, about a gallon each day. We have NEVER had a problem. FDA's own research demonstrates that raw milk is at least 8 times safer than non-reheated hot dogs, and at least 11 times safer than deli meats.

FDA stats reveal that about 1 in every hundred people in this country contract campylobacter each year, usually from under-cooked poultry or from contamination from the liquid from packaged poultry. It's inevitable that someone is going to be infected who also just happens to have consumed raw milk.

When the health Nazis interview people who are infected, their first questions are whether raw milk products have been consumed. If the answer is yes, the investigation stops, the raw milk producer has his license suspended, and a scary news release is issued stating that a bacterial infection has been "associated" with XYZ Dairy's milk, and strongly suggests that anyone with XYZ milk discard it immediately. The farmer must then pay for expensive tests, implement expensive changes demanded by the food Nazis, and suffer loss of revenue until the license is reinstated weeks later.

All of this convinces the general public that raw milk is unsafe. Meanwhile, other state and federal food Nazis point to the artificially created raw milk scare in PA to prove their claims that raw milk is dangerous. Of course, PA food Nazis use manufactured problems in other states to prove THEIR claim that raw milk is dangerous.

The war against raw milk is a SCAM.

We see what the media and corrupt officials are doing to suppress Dr Paul and the Re3olution. We need to understand that this same thing is going on in many areas that affect our lives. Corporatism and big government threaten our health as well as our finances and our liberty.

Those of use who have done our homework and understand what is at stake know that we must never give up the fight for liberty; not at any time in this campaign, and not past the time when Dr. Paul's leadership ends (hopefully not for at least 2 or 3 decades!).

I've been active in the fight for liberty literally for 40 years. I'm still active, and as long as the Good Lord enables me to keep going, I'm not quitting.

I find it mind-boggling the

I find it mind-boggling the government is involved in prosecuting folks over raw milk. My family and I were raised on raw milk and other dairy products -- that includes my ancesters. This is another power grab by the control freaks.

My mom was raised on a jersy farm in Devon, England

When she was pregnant with my brother, she drank a pint of fresh milked, raw milk every morning
he is almost twice my size

she swears it was due to the milk

See, he is proof it is dangerous.

He could have crushed you.

Jury Nullification

Firstly, the bond amount is ludicrous. Secondly, while I'm not an attorney and am not an expert on CA law, if I were to find myself in their position I damn sure would demand a jury trial and hope that someone educated the jurors as to their little known powers of jury nullification.

Below is a recent article from The Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund outlining the recent legal proceedings of a Wisconsin dairy farmer in a similar circumstance:

The Hershberger Trial and Jury Nullification
By Pete Kennedy, Esq. | February 24, 2012

Sometime later this year Loganville, Wisconsin dairy farmer Vernon Hershberger will be tried before a jury in Sauk County Circuit Court on four criminal misdemeanor counts accusing him of violating the state Food and Dairy Code. The case has drawn widespread attention in Wisconsin, with Hershberger's supporters rallying to his cause.

A question that has been raised about the trial is: can the jury hearing the case legally engage in jury nullification and return a verdict of not guilty on the charges no matter what the facts and the law of the case are? The answer is yes.

Hopefully this info, if of some help, will reach the California defendants' defense attorney.

they must have killed a few people for that kind of bond.

I use Blue Wave, but don't expect one of THEIR silly taglines.

I notice you've been here one week

What's your comment about? Are you trying to make a joke?

Outrageous bond amounts are common in this country for people who haven't harmed anyone. The Courts are Absolutely Corrupt. PERIOD.

The government and their

The government and their police state have lost all credibility and I do not believe their claims.

How can raw milk be illegal when fast food is not?

Debbie's picture

The strange thing is that it's not illegal in CA!

Look on the RealMilk website. They list all the states where it is legal/illegal.

Are raw fish or GMO ingredients illegal in any states?

This is a disgraceful display of naked power...is there anyone

out there (besides Sean Hannity) who doubts we are a police state?

I promise you this planet will be restored.

I hope so, LegalizeLiberty, I sure do...

I want to live long enough to see the day. Even after so many years of disappointment, I will Never! Give Up. Or Give IN! Thanks for the encouragement.

I am all for buyer beware ...

And I am a big proponent of most frauds being handled civilly.

But ...

A state does have the right to prosecute fraud.

If I buy organic eggs ... I would hope that my supplier is being honest with me.

My little "investigation"

I tried to determine what the scoop here is -- is/was Rawesome engaged in some kind of fraud as "obscure titles" suggests, or not?

What I could find that was talking about fraud that was in any way connected to Rawesome seemed to be derived primarily from one source:

That site makes many allegations about Sharon Palmer and Healthy Family Farms (HFF). HFF was used by Rawesome foods, so if the above site is right there might seem to be a problem here.

So next I wanted to know is the site telling the truth or just a smear-site? The site's header suggests it's owned by "Right to Choose Healthy Food" and the executive director is Aajonus Vonderplanitz. The wikipedia page for Vonderplanitz indicates that With Representative Ron Paul, M.D. he wrote the Raw Milk bills of 2009 and 2011 (though frankly that page looks like he wrote it himself). A bit more digging then reveals... that he runs Rawesome Foods?

It seems unlikely that Vonderplanitz would both be publicly exposing problems with foods from Healthy Family Farms and at the same time passing on those same foods to his own customers. So what's the deal with the milk? According to this article:

He and other owners of the goats "have their herdshare and pick up their milk here." They even do their own bottling.

So Rawesome apparently had no need for trust when it came to questions of freshness or rawness of milk because they were getting the milk straight from the animals themselves.

Anyways, that's as far as my "investigation" got before I got bored with the subject. It suggests that there is the possibility that some people may be confusing fraud by Healthy Family Farms as being fraud by Rawesome Foods. If Rawesome has been officially charged with fraud (have they?), then that has to be proven in court. But it has to be real fraud, and not just some perversion of language that makes "fraud" out of simply telling your customers that raw milk is raw and then selling them said milk.

update: Running a 'whois' on unhealthyfamilyfarm.com confirms that Vonderplanitz owns it.

So why is this crap on the front page of the Dailypaul ....

in the middle of a major campaign?

Because liberty is important?

You were talking about fraud, but that is not what this article is about. And with respect to Rawesome my post doesn't really change that (as I did not find evidence of Rawesome engaging in fraud). As per the linked article, it is about "multiple felony charges that have been ludicrously placed against them for engaging in farm-fresh food production and distribution". I.e., it's about our liberties being under attack. (Ron Paul's campaign is pretty much all about liberty, and he's been active in the specific area of raw milk, so it seems apropos.)

I have tried to locate the exact list of charges, but have been so far unable to do so. (So I have no way of really knowing if these charges are just about completely non-fraudulent selling of raw milk, or if there is something more to it.) That lack of info may in part be due to the fact that the defendents are under a gag order preventing them from discussing the case: http://www.naturalnews.com/033244_Rawesome_Foods_gag_order.html

I agree that there is some logic to not going "all in" in support of Rawesome when we don't know what the whole story is. On the other hand, the gag order may be designed to manipulate us in just that fashion, tempering support for Rawesome so it's easier for the government to just steam-roll right over them. So all I can safely do is say that I fully support the right of any adult to eat whatever they want, to grow whatever they or others want to eat (on their own land and without harming others of course), and to engage in non-fraudulent/non-coercive commerce involving such foods.

However, I guess I have to kind of agree with you on the details here... this article isn't about Rawesome in general, but instead is specifically about James Steward and Sharon Palmer. And my "research" (however flimsy) does seem to suggest Sharon Palmer may be a bad actor, deserving of the attention of law enforcement. (I was only looking for stuff on Rawesome and not the particular people mentioned, and didn't come across anything about James Steward so I have no opinion on him at this time.)

On the other hand, consider this quote from the article: "first the state of California made it impossible for Sharon to repay her loans [...] And then, we [sic] she was unable to repay those loans, they charged her with multiple counts of felony financial fraud for failing to repay the loans." If there is any truth to that, then that is not justice. Even if Sharon Palmer has done bad stuff and should be punished accordingly, that kind of over-the-top make-an-example-of-'em "justice" is no justice at all.

You just explained why this is an important topic that should be

discussed here at the dp.

You, however, I think, just created some additional arguements why this should not have been posted to the front page.

The sick thing is that I know why it was posted to the front page.

The sicker thing is that, Paul be damned, some mods take things too personal.

This is your opinion.
You base this opinion on limited amount of information.

I have never seen you post on this site a post about Monsanto GMO raw milk freedom gardening Agenda 21 etc.

I am not a big fan of GMO ...

but I am a huge fan of transparency, no corporate immunities, and liberty.

So, if it is found that a massive fraud has been committed, will you agree that there should be at least some sort of remedy for those that have been harmed? Or will you still be in denial?

How can you even be "a

How can you even be "a little" fan of GMO's. They kill. There was no fraud in this case, you need to take your pro GMO, anti God-made food elsewhere.

If you walk blindly through life, you will run into a lot of walls.

my friend

Big Brother is the # 1 creator of FRAUD IN AMERICA!

Massive scale - from creating wars to creating huge inflation by printing money.

My best friend is dying of cancer.
Cancer is widespread because of toxic food water...etc.

Big Pharma is one of the evil arms of the Big Brother.

Which side are you on?

I am on the side of liberty.

Try not to use false logic.

Are they innocent because they have "Raw" in their name?

From the evidence that is currently available, they could have been repackaging Monsanto product and claiming it came from the hand of God.

Debbie's picture

Sounds like you didn't read all the data on what happened. Go

to www.naturalnews.com and you will find the whole story as it unfolded.

I didn't want to get into all the other ....

very serious allegations against them.

I wanted to focus on the fact that these people were poisoning their customers.

They were repackaging product (maybe even GMO product) and selling it as home grown, organic, product.

If LL had his way, Monsanto executives should be assasinated and at least they are being half honest. They admit to their product being GM. They just don't admit that that is possibly a problem.

I would argue that these people are much worse than that.

We shall see how this thing plays out.

But it is absolutely SICKENING that this story made the front page of DP during a major Paul campaign.

Repackaging eggs? Yeah

Repackaging eggs? Yeah right. That's why he was given a million dollar bail?

If you walk blindly through life, you will run into a lot of walls.

Well ...

It appears that at least one of the parties has a history of flight and smuggling individuals into Mexico.

Do you think that has anything to do with it?

First of all

Bring me some proof.

You were banned on the Daily Paul at least 5! times (five) in the past.
Mostly for abusing other Daily Paul members.

As a moderator during those days I read every comment from you.

Then in the end during one ban several months long you wrote me an email pleading -- I helped get you back - and now that is how you pay me back!

You are addicted to bad habits my friend.
Scott just take your time and please stop attacking people here!

If that is how you took it ...

I apologize.

God Bless.

Isn't there a PI report published online indicating that these perps were buying skids of eggs and repackaging them as their own and then charging double what they paid?
