Japanese Natto, Nattokinase & Vitamin K2 (Resource Library)

This post is a video and article compilation of the history, health benefits, and preparation methods of the Japanese fermented soybean food known as natto. Natto contains the highest amount of vitamin K2 of any food, and has been shown to have many profound health benefits. After you have watched a few videos about natto, you may want to jump to Dr. Mercola's interview with Dr. Cees Vermeer, who is the undisputed world's expert on vitamin K. My son's teeth came in with

My son's teeth came in with enamel hypoplasia - meaning they had these mottled surface and large holes in the enamel of his 2 front teeth. They looked awful. I started giving him K2(mk-4) and brushed his teeth with remineralization paste nightly. Most of the holes filled in and became whiter. His teeth healed and look all around better. The next teeth that came in did not have the enamel problem. I believe K2 helped accomplish this recovery. My research showed me that the K2 signals the calcium to deposit into bones and teeth rather than soft tissue. Without sufficient K2 one gets calcifications in the arteries, heart and other tissues leading to plaques, artherosclerosis, heart disease, bone spurs and of course lack of density in the bones such as osteoporosis.

It's fascinating...

how even the teeth can be healed given the right nutrition and avoiding certain foods. What brand of remineralization past did you use? I seem to recall you saying something about this a while ago in regards to green pastures cod liver oil/high vitamin butter oil combination. Thanks for the info~

Back in March I tried to make my first batch of homemade natto using a pack from the store as my starter but it didn't work out. This time I'm going to try the natto starter spores shown in the first video. We'll see how it goes.

Increased rates of circumcision immediately after birth, before infants can develop their vitamin K levels naturally, has undoubtedly contributed to making vitamin K injections routine, to lower the risk for increased bleeding from these early circumcisions.

As pointed out by one Mercola reader, it is interesting to note that a newborn’s natural prothrombin levels reach normal levels between days 5 and 7, peaking around the eighth day of life, related to the buildup of bacteria in the baby’s digestive tract to produce the vitamin K that is necessary to form this clotting factor. Day 8 is said to be the only time in a baby’s life when his prothrombin level will naturally exceed 100 percent of normal.

As it turns out, Genesis 17:12 of the Bible mandates the circumcision of infant boys on the eighth day after birth—a recommendation pronounced long before we had the science to back it up.

I will leave any conclusions to you about the significance of this anecdote, but it is nevertheless interesting.

I remember reading about that a number of years ago. It's interesting indeed.

Dr. Mercola and Dr. Cees Vermeer talk about the vitamin K injections in part 10(I think). Dr. Mercola brought up the issue of babies being tramatized by the shots and Dr. Vermeer said an alternative would be to give the babies a drop of vitamin K orally.

Edit: I just read further into you article and I see it mentions the liquid vitamin K.
