Ann Romney: I don't even consider myself wealthy

Ann Romney Is Talking Awkwardly About Money Now Too

Speaking on Fox News Monday, Ann Romney showed that her husband's habit of making uncomfortable references to their wealth is rubbing off. Attempting to make the point that there are things more important than money, she instead uttered, "I don't even consider myself wealthy, which is an interesting thing. It can be here today gone tomorrow." During the same interview, speaking about the horseback riding therapy she uses to treat her multiple sclerosis, she said, according to Boston Globe reporter Michael Levenson, "Some people have lovers in every port; I have horses in every port." Surely she doesn't actually have a horse in every port (though she does have a very expensive collection of horses). But with a Cadillac in at least two ports, as her husband so helpfully pointed out last month, the comment, along with "I don't even consider myself wealthy," is bound to get a few raised eyebrows.

Clueless

I wonder if she has ever had to make a decision like I did today...should I fill my tank or just half way so I can get groceries too...hummm, I think not.

What the?,

She will have more money than all of us will ever see in 100 lifetimes, and she doesn't consider 250 million wealthy?, I guess if you compare Romney to the Rothschild family, who own 176 trillion, then she's definitely right

Ah Mitt Romney, for those who haven't figured out, he reeks of psychopathy, those cheesy lines and catch phrases he blabbers, along with the failed attempts to connect emotionally with his crowds with weird questions, and lets not forget when he tied his dog to the car roof, all reveal he lacks a true human core, he will never be able to feel empathy for us, he just doesn't care, they, the establishment, carry this disorder, they are a intra species predator, but don't take my word for it

I keep going back to what Jon

I keep going back to what Jon Stewart said recently about Romney and his 'I know some Nascar team owners' line, "Is there anything that comes out of this guy's mouth that doesn't sound like something Thurston Howell the 3rd would say?"

She's telling the truth I think

If you have 1 dollar you want 2 dollars if you have a billion dollars you want 2 billion dollars its just human nature to want more.

I like Bill Cosby's definition of wealth

"when your money works for YOU". hmm. Seems like they have enough money to fit that criteria. Maybe she's referring to the Pa Ingalls definition where wealth is measured in terms of morals and loved ones.

Ron Paul is the richest man

Ron Paul is the richest man in this race.

You'll never take me pot o' gold... or my freedoms! Ron Paul 2012!

Big bump for your comment.

Richness as described by how many friends someone has, and how many people someone can count on no matter what, Ron Paul is by far the richest man in this race. I'd give Ron Paul the shirt off my back with no questions asked.

Filthy Rich might be more fitting.

I don't know.

They couldn't afford or just didn't want to pay someone to take care of their dog while they went on vacation. Instead, they strapped the family dog Seamus onto the roof of the vehicle for the 12 hour drive into Canada in some sort of dog carrier. This was apparently in violation of Massachusetts state law, which doesn't carry a whole lot of weight with me.

The problem I have with the media's presumptive Republican Nominee is that this whole story came to light in the 2008 cycle when a reporter asked Romney to cite an example of his quick decision making ability. Romney chose this story because apparently at some point on the journey, Seamus crapped down the back window of the vehicle. Mitt's kids were understandably disturbed by this. Romney used his quick decision making ability to pull off to a gas station and clean off the window. Sounds like he's really ready for those life and death decisions a President is forced to make.

Ok. So he picked a bad story for that answer in one interview four years ago. A Presidential race is grueling so I'll cut him some slack.

But then I see a video of him talking about the incident, he insists that the kennel was air tight. I think it would be a lot more cruel to put a dog in an air tight kennel for a multi-hour trip, but what do I know? I'm not a captain of industry like Mr. Romney.

Assuming that the kennel was air tight, I am confused how Seamus's feces managed to escape to make it onto the back windshield? Is the legend true that the poop of the pets of the one-percenters really is lighter than air?

Dr. Paul does have an easier time campaigning in one respect. When you are not constantly lying and making crap up, it is a lot easier to keep your story straight and within the realm of reality.

Feelings of guilt?

Mrs. Romney?

What she really meant:

"I don't even consider myself wealthy [compared to Carlos Slim Helu, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffett], which is an interesting thing. It [We] can be here today gone tomorrow [to the Caymans]."

mrs. romney

She introduced 5 additional 'revenue streams' for government into this world, so she cannot be that bad. ;)

donvino

Filty Rich is what she sees herself as!

She has never been anything but rich! He daddy was rich and she married into wealth... she can blow it out her back end!

She's supposedly friends with Carol Paul

so I wonder what her assessment of Mrs. Romney is.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Really...Friends?

I guess that would depend upon your personal perception of 'friend', as I have many acquaintences and few friends. Being courteous and friends are two very different things in my book...are they really friends?

That "Friends" Story is a Product of the MSM

I am not saying that Carol Paul dislikes Ann Romney, but let's not equate "friendly", polite behavior on the campaign trail with real friendship.

probably more of a facebook-type friend

you know the kind- sat behind you in algebra 20 years ago and wants to get into your photo albums to see if your ass is bigger than hers now.

She also said something along

She also said something along the lines of "I am poor in spirit". I wanted to puke when I heard the interview.

haha,that was like fat fergie

(duchess of york) on Oprah saying when she had her apartments in buckingham palace they were so far from the kitchens the food would be cold by the time it was bought to her.

Exactly why I wont vote for any of these hacks....

When I fill up my car each week I have to decide to fill it or wait so I can have lunch money for the week....I'm sure that is not the case when her butler is filling up one of her two caddies....

These status quo people are so out of touch with the rest of us...When they speak they lie period.

Wait?

She takes horses for lovers in every port?

:) sorry, but it was a strange comparison for her to make.

Ann Romney can suck

My KNEE!!!! Stupid SNOB!

LOL

They call this out of touch!

They call this out of touch!

But her second cadillac is almost two years old!

.

What a nutcase

I wonder what it would take for the nut to consider herself wealthy? Would she have to own a whole country, or a planet, or maybe have a castle built out of solid gold? Would that do it? Funny, Mother Teresa considered herself wealthy, and so did Gandhi.

OK, there are a million

OK, there are a million reasons not to like Mitt Romney, and I don't. Being rich isn't one of them. I don't know the details of how Romney became wealthy, but for the moment, let's assume it was not by taking it from tax payers.

When exactly did it become embarrassing to be rich? When did financial success become something that has to be explained or apologized for.

You will see Ann Romney's comments being discussed on numerous "progressive" blogs as some sort of crime. But Ron Paul's supporters are supposed to be in favor of business and the creation of wealth by individuals. Anti-war, pro-free markets.

That said, Ann Romney could have handled it better by saying "yes we've been very blessed. Mitt has provided very well for his family." No need to be ashamed of that.

P.S. There is no way in hell I'm voting for that warmongering, NWO shill, so don't any of you ever accuse me of being a Romneybot. I'm just sayin.

“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.” William Pitt

Being wealthy is not a sin.

When you are the 'nouveau riche', you recognize the work and sacrifice it took to get there. It's still in your psychy to shop for deals, to save, etc. When you are 2nd generation or later, you are very out of touch with the term sacrifice. The Romneys are very out of touch. They have no life's experiences of having to save for something special, or to budget for winter heating bills. They have never wanted for anything, especially life's basic needs. These type of people, no matter what their ideologies are, should never run for office. They have no concept of serving the people. They have become hedonists.

I would up vote this twice if

I would up vote this twice if I could, well said.

your last two lines are very good--

there are many men/women who have worked as hard as Mitt and more honestly who haven't been able to 'provide as well' for a family--

it's a bizarre world *we* live in--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

@Lysander nothing wrong with having a lot of money

it's when someone with a lot of money panders for votes by saying things like "I don't even consider myself wealthy" but follows it up with "I have horses in every port".
I posted the article because it's funny not because I'm against a successful businessman.
