BEWARE of HIJACKING the SAMPLE BALLOT Endorsements!

The Chester County PA Republican Executive committee has taken upon themselves to define our sample ballot. According to the bylaws, I am told, the elected committee people are supposed to VOTE on the content of the sample ballot at an endorsement convention. A technically allegedly due to redistricting prevented holding the convention before the the deadline expired. The Exec committee therefore voted to allow themselves to pick the endorsements that become the sample ballot. Thus effectively locking out Ron Paul and Ron Paul delegates from appearing. Only the establishment names will appear on the sample ballot.
Here's what we got. I post this to wonder if this is happening in other places... watch out! We don't know how we can fight this. It says they choose the delegates who showed up to present themselves... I'm not sure if all the delegates were advises to show up.

Dear Committee:

Last night, at our monthly Executive Committee meeting, we discussed the endorsement of delegates and alternate delegates to the Republican National Convention. Given the extraordinary and unfortunate set of circumstances that have prevented us from holding an endorsement convention, we considered whether Executive Committee should take steps to ensure the inclusion of our delegate and alternate delegate slate on our sample ballots. Since the endorsement of these strictly party offices is not specifically addressed under our bylaws, after thoughtful discussion, the Executive Committee voted (overwhelmingly) to include on the sample ballot, the people listed below along with our endorsed statewide candidates. These were the only candidates to present themselves or be discussed for endorsement during our January interview process.

The following is a listing of delegates and alternate delegates approved last night.

Delegate to the National Convention (6th Congressional District): Congressman James Gerlach, Commissioner Ryan Costello and Jonathan Spadt
Alternate Delegate to the National Convention (6th Congressional District): Mary Lou Doyle, Norman MacQueen and Brian Peppel

Delegate to the National Convention (7th Congressional District): Michael V. Puppio, Robert J. Willert, Patricia Booker and Andy Lewis
Alternate Delegate to the National Convention (7th Congressional District): Sheriff Bunny Welsh, Elizabeth A. Salvucci, John J. Egan and Kathryn Wood-Jacobs

Delegate to the National Convention (16th Congressional District): Senator Mike Brubaker, Dave Dumeyer and Ann Womble
Alternate Delegate to the National Convention (16th Congressional District): Representative John Lawrence, Marilyn Schnee and Ethan Demme

I thought it was important to communicate this to you now rather than wait until the minutes were e-mailed later this month. Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback. I appreciate hearing from you.

Best,

Val

REMEMBER 2008

when they confiscated our delegate cards first thing in the morning, saying they were illegal (they weren't)...then next day the judge ruled in our favor, but too late, the primary was over. DO NOT LET THEM TRY TO PULL THAT BS THIS TIME!!!!

Great tip

Thanks.

The party hacks

WILL be ordered to stand at the polls and hand out those sample ballots, which will contain all their hand-picked cronies..

We need to have our own people at the polls handing out delegate slate cards for our delegates/alternates - this is the most important thing you can do in PA - work a poll on 4/24.

PM if you're not in a meetup down there, or don't know who your district coordinator is.

Working the polls

Thank you. Yes will work the party polls.
Am in a meetup.

An idea...

...we will cross that barrier and fight them in their territory.

We must put these people on notice. We will call them, send them emails, talk to them nicely and convince them to put RP into consideration. We can urge them to side with us.

Remember, we are the majority. And we will win this.

Put them on notice?

"We must put these people on notice. We will call them, send them emails, talk to them nicely and convince them to put RP into consideration. We can urge them to side with us."

Specifically who and how? Not sure what you are referring to in detail.

It may not matter, but it is interesting...

I was warry that this was a tactic that might
be being leveraged in other areas to try to
control the delegate ballots.
However, I realize that it may not matter as
we will have to promote the RP delegates heavily
at the polls with our own sample ballots anyway.
Seems to me clever presentation of the RP
delegates at that time will be significant, promoting
those delegates as being passionate about the
important issues that will have appeal to the voters
right there on the spot. Yes? I haven't been
involved with trying to promote the delegate ballot
before.
