Gingrich Wins GA With 0.18% of Votes In?
Submitted by skeechaleech on Tue, 03/06/2012 - 20:28in
What is wrong with this picture? I mean, I expected Gingrich to win the state, but come on now...
Call me crazy, but I'm really losing faith in this "fair" voting system.

MSNBC, Fox, and USA Today all
MSNBC, Fox, and USA Today all called Gingrich the winner with 0% of precincts reporting. I was watching it in comparison with google's live updates of precincts and there were 0 % in.
What a sad joke our "system" is.

Not all, but MOST
...of the South is filled with Fox News disciples. They are easily-duped into supporting ANY war! You can devise anything that is ideologically heinous and cloak it in some Christian Crusade and they will lap it up. Very, VERY little critical thought coming from Deep South constituents. I've lived down here my entire life and it's a burden. I like Washington State after the caucuses! I may be moving!

I hang me head in disgust in the state I was born and raised in
There were 1,700 members in
There were 1,700 members in this year's Georgia exit poll. Over 140,000 votes have been cast with only 13% reporting.
So don't tell me I'm a conspiracy theorist, because they call an election with 0.18% in and a very small exit poll sample.
It's called a projection by a
It's called a projection by a media company. CNN projecting Gingrich doesn't mean they stop counting the vote. 1,700 is a pretty big sample is a population of 140,000, and if Gingrich's lead is big enough, you can reasonably predict that he will win it.
The population isn't 140,000,
The population isn't 140,000, I said that was the amount of votes in at 13% reporting. There are now over 225,000 votes in at 26% reporting.
I anticipate there to be over 500,000 votes which 1,700 is not a strong enough sample size for. That would be a sample of 0.34%, or even less if there are more votes.
1700 is still statistically a
1700 is still statistically a very large sample size for that population. Look at the 08 presidential election. Almost everyone was expecting Obama to win because he held a 7 to 10 point lead in a bunch of polls of 1000 people in a population of over 100 million (voters). If Gingrich's lead was big enough among that 1,700, it's reasonable to project him as the winner. Furthermore, if anyone besides Gingrich won GA, it would be Santorum or Romney. Georgia is not a Paul-friendly state.
How Funny Would It Be?
If those 5% who voted for Paul in Georgia managed to capture the delegate seats from Gingrich somehow.
This isn't part of a
This isn't part of a conspiracy and it's not limited to elections including Ron Paul. All the polls were indicating a Gingrich win. Based on that, the networks project him as the winner. I remember watching election coverage with my family in 08 (I was a mainstream Republican then, and we wanted McCain to win), and they called California (my state obviously) for Obama as soon as voting ended.
This Hoax Affects Everyone
Gingrich was expected to win Georgia. Still they realistically should not be able to project a winner with just .18% of the vote counted or as soon as voting is ended as in 08 Califronia. This exact same scenario you're referring to is pointed out in this video. They called California for Obama in 08 as soon as voting ended. If you haven't watched this video, I suggest you watch it all the way through.

This is why Dr Paul does much better in most caucus states than in primary states. But even in caucus states, the vote gets manipulated. It's just a little harder to do. They have to do things like omit precincts from the vote totals, move the counting to secret locations, cancel precinct caucus voting for inclement whether, etc. etc.

I don't think the news media
I don't think the news media calling the states has anything to do with it. You can disagree with the practice, and indeed I think they should wait longer, but that doesn't mean that in certain situations, it's unreasonable to project a winner with very little vote in. Everyone expected Obama to win CA. I live in a moderately Republican-leaning area of California, and even my county went to Obama in 08. There's no way McCain was gonna win. My point was, some people on here cite these examples as proof of a conspiracy against Ron Paul, and all I'm saying is that is not the case. I'm not saying there aren't powerful people opposing Paul, but the media predicting Gingrich to win Georgia has nothing to do with that.

They are not basing it on the votes already counted. They are basing it on exit polls.

You might be onto something there. As good as we RP supporters are at spamming internet polls, maybe we could accomplish the same with exit polls!

That's the point of polling. Correctly taken samples reveal within a margin of error what the final results will be. You understand statistics well? No.

I don't know how YOU could believe it. But since I am not an idiot when it comes to statistics, I can believe it.
I hate it when conspiracy wackos use their ignorance as proof of a conspiracy.
first day troll: your comment proves you ARE an idiot
explain what application of statistics is involved. we are talking about simple counting here, nothing more.
come back with your proof that there WASN'T fraud in the vote count, and THEN you can be taken seriously here.
is your juvenile habit of randomly insulting people online just to get attention how you try to make up for your lack of a real social life???

Not even a quarter of one percent. Truly mind-blowing!
Let Georgia waste their vote...
who cares? They're one of those states that will vote Republican even if the GOP nominates Obama.
I don't play, I commission the league.
It's apparent to anyone
that cares to pay attention, the system was designed to be rigged. The question is, how much are Americans going to put up with?
