Thank you everyone. Daily Paul fundraiser 100% complete!

Update: What I expected would take two weeks only took five days. I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who contributed to put this fundraiser over the top and ensure the Daily Paul's presence through the GOP convention. And thank you to everyone who makes ongoing contributions, both financial and otherwise, that keep this the best Ron Paul site on the net. We are working harder than ever to transform the DP into a sustainable endeavor, and the best pro Liberty site on the planet. Thank you. None of this would be possible without you. Never underestimate your power to change the world with your determined actions.

Dear Friends,

I have been putting this off as long as possible (as usual) because I hate asking for money. But the situation is becoming dire. Keeping our beloved Daily Paul on the air and running smoothly is no small endeavor of both time and money.

From its humble beginnings as the first website to support Ron Paul for president in January of 2007, the Daily Paul has grown into one of the top websites in the world, and the top Liberty website in our movement. The Daily Paul sports a global Alexa ranking inside of 4,500, and a U.S. ranking under 1,500 (i.e. it is one of the top 1,500 websites in all of the U.S.)

These incredible numbers are thanks entirely to our community and our commitment. It is all of us, individually and collectively who make the Daily Paul the powerful force that it is. But at the same time, the 50,000 users, 220,000 posts, 2.2 million comments, and countless daily trolls, spammers, and emails must be managed, not to mention legal issues, accounting issues, technology issues, keeping the software updated, while continually adding new features to the site. All of that - that is my job.

Thankfully I have a small but dedicated team that helps keeps it all going. Even working full time, there is no way I could do it alone.

And yet, keeping the website funded remains elusive. We operate on a razor thin margin. In the 2007/08 cycle, traffic dropped off a cliff after Super Tuesday, and revenue sank with it. If the same thing happens this year, we're in big trouble.

So if you value this website and and this community and the work that we do, please help us continue operations at least through the GOP convention. Here is how you can help:

  • If you are a regular user of the Daily Paul, I invite you to become a premium subscriber with a monthly donation of $10 or more. Premium subscribers surf the site ad free (more on ads below), and can be identified because an avatar in their comments. More benefits for premium users are on the way.
  • Make a one time donation via the chip-in to the left. We are looking to raise $20,000 to ensure the site's viability over the next five months, until the GOP convention in Tampa in late August. Ron Paul has vowed to stay in the race all the way, and this is our intention as well.
  • If you don't like Pay Pal, please send check, money order, cash, silver or gold to:

    The Daily Paul
    PO Box 271
    Somerville MA 02143

Every little bit helps. Previous donors, please note the new address.

  • The Daily Paul is looking for high level sponsorship. If you are able to sponsor ongoing operations at a high level, please contact me at: thankyou [at] dailypaul [dot] com.

I don't ever want the Daily Paul to go away, and I believe in finishing what I started. As long as Ron Paul stays in the race, the Daily Paul will be here. But going forward, it is imperative that we transform the site to ensure that it remains a permanent fixture and a powerful voice in the Liberty community. In order to do that, we need a solid financial footing.

Advertising and the Daily Paul

Have you noticed how annoyingly aggressive advertising has become on sites around the internet? What we see elsewhere, and what you will never see on the Daily Paul are:

  • Pop-up ads
  • Pop-under ads
  • Splash screen intro ads (you can skip this ad in 30 seconds…)
  • Keyword ads that highlight words with text, and give you a pop up when you roll over them
  • Screen take over ads
  • Video ads that start playing automatically

I am personally highly annoyed by such tactics. But why is online advertising becoming so aggressive? Because it is notoriously difficult to make money via online ads. Yes, the Daily Paul is covered in ads, including Google ads for Mitt Romney and the like. I get complaints about this, but it is all I can do to try to squeeze blood out of this turnip. I'm not happy about it, but at the same time, I doubt a Ron Paul supporter will be converted by a banner ad.

You will never see the aggressive ad tactics listed above used on the Daily Paul. Such tactics show blatant disrespect to the reader, ultimately detract from the purpose of the website, which is spreading the message of Liberty as far and wide as possible.

If you have not done so already, please become a premium subscriber, or make a donation to the Daily Paul.

Thank you!

One hundred fiats coming your

One hundred fiats coming your way. Thanks for all you do, I consider it money well spent.

I thank you for your commitment to making Daily Paul an enjoyable resource and community for us.

I also want you to know I'm looking forward to what might be an up and down ride to the convention on Daily Paul. All the same, it serves as a affective means of encouraging and informing us via sharing information and ideas.

For any RPers who may be disappointed about Tuesday's results and even desire to give'er up you may not be looking at the big picture. I know many people who have tried, but no third party has been able to get these ideas on the news or to as many people as Ron Paul's run for POTUS. Now, millions who have heard will enable an exponential increase of teaching these ideas in years to come, God willing.

For example, my seventeen year old daughter would not have written a senior paper about the gold standard this semester. Who knows what her topic would have been about without a common discussion of the fed and gold in the news by Ron Paul........still another, my eighty three year old mother understands and now hopes that Ron Paul would win.

Freedom rings in the ears of all ages for all people.

From another angle, anyone wanting to bow out now would be abandoning those who have reached new levels of involvement, I'm thinking of the new head of Iowa's Republican party (if I'm not mistaken) as an example. Not to mention all of the RP delegates who have committed time and money of their own to attend the caucuses, conventions or become heads of local groups.

When we're standing for truth and not compromising it is a good cause. You know you're in the right spot when there's no one else there to do it.

Thanks again Daily Paul!!

Have a blessed day.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand.
And those who have not heard shall understand.

Ron Paul 2012 Viral Street Kits... To support the dailypaul & RP

An interesting viral social/video campaign called Kony 2012 was launched by the Invisible Children Org this week. So far the campaign seems to have gone viral... The video was launched on March 5 and has almost 12 Million views and climbing in less than two days. Google it and check it out! The thing I though relevant and interesting are the Kony 2012 Kits they are selling/distributing...

Checkout the link, My thought is that if the dailypaul.com or Ron Paul Super PAC put something similar together for Ron Paul is would be an awesome way to raise money and get the message out there. Viral Ron Paul Street Kits!!!

Amazing site!

I am going to donate some money on payday. This site is really amazing and we have to keep our support going strong for Paul. I would have donated today, but I bought a Ron Paul Revolution t-shirt today and I can't wait till it comes in. It's half off for another week I think. The site is .... Since the shirts are so cheap, I am going to see if our local group wants to buy the red one with black lettering, so it will be obvious who the Ron Paul supporters are. On Payday, I'll send some money to The Daily Paul. Thanks for all you do. This site is absolutely the best website on the planet! Please everyone let's keep it Advertisement free please!

A Measley Six Bucks

I just donated a measley six bucks which is all I can afford at the moment since I just dumped a wad on the Ron Paul Moneybomb.

BUT...There was a time when I used to think, "I don't have enough to make a meaningful contribution, so I'll put off giving until I have more."

I've since learned that if the cause is just, I'll donate 50 cents if that's all I have on me. I can always contribute more next week, but it's better to give what little we can and not be embarrassed by it. I'm sure Michael will agree that EVERY dollar counts.

Thank you

It means more than you'll ever know. And yes, every bit counts. Thank you.

Thanks for everything you do!

I am more than happy to support your work. Wondered if there would be a way premium members could select to see the ads - otherwise we have no way to support you through what we purchase? Since I will be purchasing something anyway, I would prefer that you guys get the credit for it - if all ads are removed from what I see - how will I and others still use this site to give you the credit when we purchase things?

By the way - thanks for everything you and your team does. This is my daily site now and I would like to see it continue when Dr. Paul is the president (Go Dr. Paul!) and afterwards. This is wonderful site for growth and links... I attribute a lot of my growth in areas that I needed to learn through the comments and links here. Thank you for ALL you guys do!

Thanks for all of your work

Thanks for all of your work to keep the DP going. Hope my contribution helps.

*Update* How high?

[REDACTED]How much do you need? Set a goal for each month so we can better achieve it. This would make for a good category choice in the blue bar (PayPal preferably).

Totally missed the chip in box.

I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: "O Lord make my enemies ridiculous." And God granted it.

Is it a comment, or a forum thread?

If it is a Forum Topic you posted, you can use the edit tab at the top, scroll to the bottom and delete it. (Unless a video on it has been embedded, than one of us has to delete it because there will be no edit tab then)

If it is a comment and the comment has been replied to you can't edit or delete it but I will if you need it done.

Thank you Michael and team

I subscribed... boy is money tight these days and with a new family and a new business, but this site is about the best thing I could think of spending money on! Thank you!!

Sent a check recently to the Arlington address.

Will you get that donation? Hope so. Thanks so much for this special home, Michael.

The Arlington address is being forwarded

So I should get it. But it is hard (impossible) for me to link real names with screen names unless you include a little note, which I always enjoy.

God bless you Michael

My Daily Paul family has given me hope for the last 4 years - hope, when the rest of our society has gone through what has seemed some hopeless times. Thank you for this forum, and your commitment to it through thick and thin - I know it has not been easy. I upgraded to premium membership tonight - sorry it's taken so long. I'm looking forward to meeting you in person someday, as I already feel like I know you, and consider you my brother. Peace, Todd Brooks

I'm sorry for your difficulties. As a computer rube, I just assumed that you made some good money with this site and I was glad of it. And now, I just wish it were so. It's a helluva tool for many of us.

You are welcome.

I was about to log on and donate the full amoung for a $20/mo subscription (without the benfits of a subscription) since there is now way to subscribe by CC. Not now. $240 (+$50) is not a lot, but it every bit helps

Chip-in Accepts Credit Card Payments

They won't get credit card payments happing instantly. Try the chip-in to donate. It takes credit cards. I did the donation through chip-in but like you cannot do the subscription by CC. I'll contribute more when the CC option is available for subscription. I'm starting to wonder if its a subtle way to discourage foreigners from subscribing and I hope that is not so because cause of liberty requires all the support it can get.
