My Greatest Disappointment - The Ron Paul Attack Ads

Watch the ads of Ronald Reagan, John Kennedy, and Robert Kennedy. Their positive attributes were put on display without a mention of the other candidates.

We have a candidate who stands head and shoulders above the other candidates. He is a country doctor who's godly character measures up to a George Washington, who's family life measures up to a Robert Kennedy, who's intellectual capacity measures up to a John Kennedy, and who's charisma measures up to a Ronald Reagan. And yet we take pot shots at men that do not even deserve to be mentioned along side Dr. Ron Paul!!

Dr. Paul has never to my knowledge lowered himself to playing petty political games and now we force him to defend these ads. He defies conventional wisdom. His message unites us…

It breaks my heart. So many of our fellow Americans will never know the deliverance his message of liberty brings because we turned them off by our ads.

And how about you? Would you have gone over the wall for Ron Paul had you been introduced to him through one of these ads??

In 1788 our country needed someone to unit us. They found a man that they all united behind...some were Tories, some were cowards, some were flip-floppers, and some were serial hypocrites...some were just like you.

He united them ALL.

Liberty does that my friends

P.S. Don’t Agree? I challenge you to do your own poll regarding the impact of the $30,000,000 in ads we have purchased to promote the presidency of Ron Paul. Find 10 non Ron Paul supporters who have viewed one of the attack ads. Find one out of the 10 who were influenced to vote for Ron Paul as a result of seeing the ad. My findings were that they have a Negative impact on the viewer and the fact that we have lost ground nationally these past 6 months confirms my findings!

OK

You may be correct, but you undermine your assertion when you say that this thread on some internet forum has made you "a former Ron Paul supporter."

1. One point to be considered is that Santorum is a flaming fake.

2. If you're going to let the opinions of others on this internet thread determine who you will or will not support, then I'll call you a name: Irresponsible.

3. Negative ads might be a minor mistake, but the real problem is the superficial irresponsible flesh and blood that thinks it should have a voice in governing others. People just aren't willing to do their homework = the ugly truth about non-Ron Paul supporters and former Ron Paul supporters alike.

Supposed Ron Paul Supporters

You're correct on #2, kind of - and as I mentioned elsewhere - I was reminded that over the years, when it came to a Constitutional matter, many times Congressman Paul stood alone against EVERYONE else - because he knew his stance was for truth.

I can stand on my own against the RP Sheep. . .I'm good with that. And I will not back down on my stance that attack ads are wrong and only lump Ron Paul in with "them". He is far and away a SO much better man than that.

The points can be made in ads that spotlight RON PAUL - his platform - his beliefs - his voting record - ALL positive - ALL of what the people are looking for - CHARACTER, TRUTH and HONESTY. Ron Paul can stand on his own - he is literally one of a kind.

Satanorum will show his own behind. Besides, he was exposed during the debate when he was sandwiched between RP and Mitts. There is no need to waste good peoples money giving the flaming fake air time.

So Correct

As we look back now over the past 5 months...can we now see that the clear positive message of Ron Paul was drowned out by so much negativity? Can we see that surrounding him with so much immaturity was the oppositions best tactic to derail the campaign?

We all, including Ron Paul, can learn from this!

Truth Is Treason. . .

In this empire of lies you supposed Ron Paul supporters are spewing.

You're sickening. Keep up the warmongering against the other candidates - it makes you just like them.

Attack ads 'makes you just like them'

is good. That is just what is happening. Attack ads without promoting your platform is what Romney has been accused of doing by non-Romney supporters.

I would only support vicious attack ads against Romney as he is the only candidate that embodies all of the system/establishment. But without namecalling, but calling him on things without lies or distortions or overhyping or exaggeration.

jj

Some of you people completely amaze me!

Since when did telling the TRUTH become an attack or negative?

I agree!

The campaign is informing the voters of the records of the other lying pieces of crap, because THE MSM IS NOT EXPOSING THEM. No one is telling the voters the truth about these scumbags, except the Paul campaign. The tough voter block is the over 60 crowd, and they watch T.V. They do not go to the internet for news or to do research. They have to be educated!

I think there should be more ads focusing on their flip-flopping pandering - with clips from their own mouths. More 'Swift-boating"!!

A little experience might help you

12 years ago my political opponents who can manipulate the local newspaper published a front page story about me. It said that I was "wanted" for a third degree misdemeanor. It was proven that I had dealt with the issue but somehow the environmental court had misplaced the record. The paper published a retraction deep in the C section. 7 years later someone said "Oh you are 'that' slumlord". The other candidates will play every card they can to defame the other candidates. Honor, righteousness, civility...they mean nothing to them.

But to Ron Paul and the future of this country, they mean everything

Here is another way of explaining what these ads do to us "everyday Americans".

You're a FAKE!!

Which is what the campaign has Ron Paul saying(who had never said anything remotely resembling that - until he had to defend their ad).

Name calling is unprofessional and juvenile.

Since when did NAME CALLING become a warm fuzzy positive?

True. . .

Try finding the truth for yourself. . .

Ron Paul is pretty fiesty.

Look at some of his older clips. I don't think that he was defending the 'Fake' ad at all. I get the feeling that he really doesn't like Santorum.

Seen it. . .

He wasn't attacking people - he was attacking the establishment - full on.

Negative campaigning is necessary.

Positive ads can only get you so far, as if you want to beat your opponents, you have to clearly distinguish yourself from them.

Have You Plumbed Depths of Ron Paul's Character

You may need to cut the other guy down..but

Ron Paul's character shines so brightly, he should never stoop to their level.

He should stand his ground and set a NEW standard.

That is what I want for my children and there are millions across America that would agree with me..

But they only know him as just another muckraker

He was not 'cutting the other guy down'.

He is exposing the records of the other scumbags - exposing them to be the liars that they are. If the MSM were doing their job and vetting these jerks, the campaign wouldn't have to spend money to do so.

You're a FAKE!!

. . .name calling isn't cutting someone down? You "Fake"!

Is that what your mom taught you? Mine didn't.

Is that what you teach your children - call them names!! I didn't teach mine that.

Hmmm ...

Since Ron Paul approves all campaign ads, your criticism is of the man himself, which is understandable for a Santorum supporter.

Do Unto Others

. . .and how is attacking them - like they're doing to each other - distinguishing him from them?

Because...

by attacking Frothy for his big-spending ways and hypocrisy on the abortion issue, for example, he is comparing himself favorably to Frothy on two of the biggest wedge issues in this GOP election cycle. If we didn't have to deal with the GOP's voter fraud, this would help the campaign.

I don't play, I commission the league.

Mmhmm. . .

and how is that translating into votes - this attacking of Satanorum? Is Ron Paul creaming his opposition? Uhm. . .no.

Dude - seriously - I'm all over the vote stealing. I've never seen it be quite so obvious and in our face. Well, other than that pregnant/bulging mess in Florida - then Ohio.

Jesus Joseph And Mary

Trying to bring about thought on here, suggest there may be a better way - question the prevailing, in my opinion, lack of wisdom - has brought about the same nastiness Ron Paul endured when he brought up the Golden Rule, in regard to our foreign policy, in South Carolina. He was loudly booed.

We were all incensed!! How awful of them to boo "Do Unto Others"!! Who does that?

Yet, we want to see Ron Paul made into a hypocrite? Do unto others? Then his campaign puts out attack ads?

Dr. Paul calls them all down at one of the debates about attacking each other - stick to the issues. Then he puts out attack ads?

No one sees the hypocrisy in this? His campaign handlers are making a mockery of this honorable man - and making him a liar.

Is RON PAUL's campaign doing to the others as he wants them to do to him?! Answer that question.

This post has received some of the most mean, nasty comments I've ever seen from - supposedly - my compatriots. I've been attacked, it's been inferred I'm not really a RP supporter - because I suggest there could be a better way?

This is shameful.

Remnant Patriot is an apt description

It looks like the people who guard "the Party Line" want you thrown out of the Ron Paul Camp. Do you think they are working for the campaign 'Handlers'?

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Author of the Golden Rule

was Jesus Christ, Himself. Yet, he told the Pharisees that "they were of their father, the devil." At other times He called them "hypocrites". and "vipers". He threw the tables of the money changers over and drove them off with a whip! Sometimes it is a kindness to tell someone their faults, in the hope that a correction may be brought about and to expose evil. Would you think it a kindness if a doctor didn't tell a sick person that he had a disease? Do you consider it a kindness not to tell a nation that they are about to be deceived...again?

Fed-Up

Very Well Stated

But the message of Jesus Christ is 99% uplifting and instructional and 1% nailing the bad guys.

Do you want to win or do you want to feel good about yourself, vindicated, etc.

Let's go out this afternoon. I will bring the message of hope, of liberty, of reasserting our ability to self-govern ourselves, of the need to stop paying the monster so mom can stay home and raise her children, of bringing the drug addicts love and support not prison, of stopping the drain of the grandmothers savings by stopping the fed from their theft of her hard earned savings and on and on and on. These are the messages their hearts long for. And I will connect with practically every single individual and add another 5-10 individuals to the 300+ I've reached with the most positive truth message of my 64 year lifetime.

You can talk to people about the flip-floppers, the hypocrites, etc. etc. You might get to blow off some stream but how many people will have their apathy cured, join our ranks, and start believing for a better future?

Jesus Christ

. . .I'm so glad I'm a former christian.

Christians can justify anything. . .even wrong.

Here I thought Jesus was supposed to be the "Prince of Peace". . ."and the greatest of these is love"?

I'm missing the "love" and "peace" with Ron Paul's supporters and campaign management.

Aside from the the fact that statement can be said of anyone,
(i.e. Remnant Patriot /atheists /Republicans/ Democrats/ Conservatives/Progressives can justify anything . . .even wrong)

Sterotyping and insulting Christians hardly provides logical support for your argument. Rather, by resorting to such sterotype based attacks, you contradict your supposed goal that nobody use attacks.

(Although accurately revealing Santorum as a fake directly on the actual substantive issues seems hardly some irrelevent attack on some non-issue as it is informative about the candidates on the actual crucial important issues.)

Uhm, Joe. . .

No, there are many people who slap labels all over themselves. I'm removing any perceived labels from myself - well - other than I'm a hypocrite. I'm kind of taking a liking to that.

My "attack" is "truth" - in my eyes. Don't you all support "truth" being thrown out there? Isn't this the same reason the bloodthirsty Ron Paul supporters use for supporting the "attack" ads Ron Paul's campaign is putting up.

Yes, I'll be a hypocrite - just like those who want negative campaigning. Maybe I'm a closet sheeple. . .

Your points are well taken.

It's out of character for me to launch attacks - just like it's out of character for Ron Paul to attack other people. Hope you grasp my points.

Can't Speak for All Christians Here

But I know that most are against preemptive wars, and believe in trading with other countries, just like Dr. Paul says. And, we believe in helping the poor and funding the hospitals ourselves...that social programs are not the answer. We want honest money, and think we should be able to keep the fruits of our labors to make this possible. And we believe in freedom to choose your faith. In fact, we believe in freedom, period, as long as we don't harm others.
