Are you a bound delegate for Romney, Santorum or the Newt? A way to beat that

Are you a delegate in a state that has bound you to a non-Ron Paul candidate?

Ugh! Thinking that means you have to vote for them? Well the answer is NO. You do not have to vote for them, even if you are bound.

The National Republican Party has a "Unit Rule" meaning that even if your entire state delegation is voting for Mittens and you happen to really be a Ron Paul supporter - you do not have to conform, they cannot make you vote. This rule is mainly set up for proporational delegations, so the majoirty of that delegation can force the minority to vote one way. But it also works in other ways too.

Now its true you CANNOT vote for Ron Paul until the second vote at a National Convention if your state legally has the ability to bind you, but you can ABSTAIN. Yes thats right, your vote will not count for Mittens, Frothy, or the Newt.

So its possible to actually still make it much harder for Mittens to hit that magic number lets says if the entire Nevada delegation abstained.

Also for all you FLORIDA people, Florida would normally be a bound state, BUT florida moved ahead of the APRIL 1 deadline which rules require all state elections to be proportional, so you want to be a Ron Paul delegate in FLORIDA. This will be very important on that second vote.

So get to your county and state conventions in FLORIDA

Thank you for this awesome

information. Here is a bump for you!!!!

Wowzer!

This could really change the way the first round turns out! Get the word out to any delegates you know.

1913 wasn't a very good year. 1913 gave us the income tax, the 16th amendment and the IRS.

This is probably the most important article on the site...

Seriously; everyone who is involved in the delegate selection process and could potentially become a Non-Paul delegate needs to know to abstain round one if they are a Romney supporter.

I give my "vote for me" speech on the 23rd

for delegate selection, florida.

any tips? suggestions? should i disclose my support?

probably should next except

probably should next except in private to the other voting paulites

I cannot find this abstain

I cannot find this abstain option anywhere. Can anyone prove any validity to this?

Below is a link to the official convention and delegate selection rules. I couldn't find anything confirming this.

http://www.gop.com/images/legal/2008_RULES_Adopted.pdf

Here is what I did find.

"In 1912 Mr. Taft was nominated by the Republicans on the first ballot after an embittered struggle over the credentials of certain delegates. Three hundred forty-three delegates abstained from voting and a month later held a convention of their own, at which a new party, called Progressive, was formed, and Mr. Roosevelt was nominated for the presidency."

Beware "Them"

"They" and "them" are the words of collectivists.

Keep in mind that "they" are not all the same. Some of the others may think they're going along with the supposed front-runner and best candidate to beat Obama, without having any strong convictions beyond that. They are being loyal, in other words.

Greet them as individuals. When the desperate pull power ploys and play unfairly, you'll want these delegates to be on your side, which they won't be if you've been calling them cheaters and lumping them in with the underhanded tactics of the powers-that-be.

It is critically important to bring people together, not declare war because of the actions of a few. No one likes to be blamed for the actions of others. It would be a shame to lose support because the delegates simply do not like being called names or the rude behavior of Ron Paul supporters.

A meeting is not a blog post where one can get away with just about anything because one is anonymous.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I agree quite strongly.

Say that Pro-Liberty forces are 1/3, and W-Era Revanchists are 1/3rd. There is still that middle 1/3rd that may sympathize with one or the other, have divided sympathies, or be undecided, but likely they are more bound by upholding a tradition that includes individual rights and a sense of fair play. Whichever side they see violating what they see the party as standing for internally - not ideologically - they're going to see that behavior as validating the criticism of the opponents.

You represent us - don't give those who would caricature us the ability to misrepresent you, and (vicariously) us. Persuade. Bring individuals along one by one, just as Ron Paul has been doing for decades.

If one chooses to abstain, can they still

go on to the National Convention or will they be voted out?

we are talking about national delegates abstaining AT the national convention.

I think you're right

except for this:

"proporational delegations, so the majoirty"

It always helps to convince others you know what you're talking about if you fix words that have those squiggly red lines beneath them before you post.

(should be proportional and majority)

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Someone should double,

Someone should double, triple, quadruple check this. If it's true, this could be our greatest asset at the convention.

How will anyone KNOW how close the vote is for Mittens?

How will anyone know anything?

Are these votes paper votes or verbal votes or how are they done?

SequoiaTrees4RonPaul

Don't abstain, UNLESS

Romney is close to hitting 1144. That is the ONLY reason why one should abstain, to prevent Romney from hitting 1144.

But other than that, if Romney is not close to hitting 1144, then it makes more sense to hide your allegiance. Openly coming out for RP is deliberately setting yourself as a target. That way they will KNOW who they must screw over and they will try disqualifying you and/or replace you with their own delegates.

So keep a low profile at all times, unless Romney is close to getting the nomination.

We'll restore our own country

but thanks for your advice even though it's not to our advantage in my opinion.

If all abstained still not either Rick or Newt would have 1144 so why not make Mitt look weak as possible on the first round so we either win the second round or gain large numbers showing strength and gaining strong momentum. 3rd round will gain more. Keep convincing other delegates on the floor between voting rounds.Thats how we will win this. And bring your throat spray because you are going to have to be the LOUDEST on the floor when it is appropriate to cheer for Ron Paul.

How Lincoln Won the 1860 Republican Nomination and how Ron Paul will Win 2012

Those that have eyes to see after reading the article will understand what we are seeing unfold with Ron Pauls campaign.

Also forget about everything you see in the media about delegate numbers. It's psyops to hide the truth and confuse people. Ignore it.

The best delegate totals to watch are at the same site as in 2008 and reliable.Bookmark it.

Ron Paul will have the best argument in Florida for any topic because unlike any of the other candidates he is standing right smack on top of the document he swore to uphold, the Constitution.
So rest assured as this unfolds and he goes to the convention with his delegates no one will have the required amount and that is how we will win this. By truth and persuasion. And those of you that will be his delegates there will help him argue his case, unwaveringly.Stand firm and you will help Ron change the course of history.

How can they

Replace you?

I've heard quite often about

I've heard quite often about 'replacements'. Isn't that what alternates are about? Anyways, no matter how it is, them 'replacing you' isn't out of the picture looking at their past shenanigans, so I would beware that.

If true, this could help even in a non-open convention

Assume Romney eventually hits 1144 (including those unbound who announce their support for Romney), and Santorum and Gingrich bow out and endorse him. Some of those released Santorum/Gingrich delegates will hopefully be Paul supporters, but many will freely support Romney.

That could still leave 2/3 or 3/4 of the Tampa delegates either willing or required to vote for Romney. But if a few hundred bound Romney delegates abstain on the first round and flip to Paul, game over.

Facebook for bound delegates

Also - If you're a delegate who is bound to another candidate I STRONGLY recommend you remove any RP profile photos and make your profile private.

I know this sucks...but better to play it safe. They could use FB to disqualify delegates.

Yeah, I've actually heard of

Yeah, I've actually heard of some people having their 'record' be questioned by officials. Remember, it's not very hard to look up your name and location on facebook, so it's not unexpected that they could run a quick 'background' check on you.

We should be quiet about this

Hi - I think this is awesome - don't get me wrong. But I really think that we should be keeping these strategies on the down low until we get closer.

I know for a fact anti RP groups read this board and discuss our strategy. They even plan to use this against us.

Too much information is being given away and this may come to bite us in the future.

Just my opinion though.

They know our strategy

the key is for them not to know who we are or who we support. They know we are coming with this, they just can't find out who's coming.

We'll have to work out a secret code

The chair is against the wall. John has a long mustache. I repeat, John has a long mustache.

Obviously you're comment is tongue in cheek, but yeah, it's not secrecy that will help us win, it's the truth. Why would we want to become like the people we're fighting against? The way I see it, information like this is good to get out. If the public realizes Paul might actually win, they'll be more likely to vote for him. Sadly, most people aren't as complex and principled in their voting decisions as we may try to be.

Besides, if there is some surprise attack at the convention, Dr. Paul will lose favor with much of the public (the media is already labeling the delegate strategy as "hijacking"). If we're open about the strategy, then there will be less resentment if we actually pull it off.

"Sometimes it is said that man cannot be trusted with the government of himself. Can he, then, be trusted with the government of others? Or have we found angels in the forms of kings to govern him?" -Thomas Jefferson

by the way this is nothing new

or secret.

Delgates have been doing this for years. Abstaining.

Also you will see delegates with "didn't vote" meaning that they did nothing, "went to the restroom, along with their alternate" while voting is going on. When you have to go, you have to go ;)

Shh..........

You are letting the cat out of the bag!!! Shhh!!!

I have been reading the convention rules and a few states that have the most strict "Binding" of Delegates (Example Kansas - Delegates are BOUND until the Candidate unbinds them...IE- bound 3rd, 4th, 106th vote until the Candidate drops out/releases them...they even make you sign an affidavit saying you will vote for who they say to vote for!). More on that later after I confirm a theory my co-worker came up with.

National Convention Rules
http://www.gop.com/images/legal/2008_RULES_Adopted.pdf

Kansas Delegate Rules
http://ksgop.org/caucus/

I think I stumbled onto something that can/will change EVERYTHING....but I don't want to say it until I get confirmation from someone in the campaign and/or I read the rules a little bit more. It is the reason the campaign thinks we are doing so well and has a chance to win even at our current performance rate in straw polls.

Assuming each delegate at the RNC actually gets to VOTE - as in each person gets to write down on paper who they support in each round......That is a huge assumption though.

For instance, in the 1st round of voting if it is a state like Kansas with bound delegates - do they simply have one of the Kansas leadership delegates (IE- the party establishment 3 stooges) write down on a piece a paper who everyone is bound to support? And then once a candidate un-binds you, then you get a paper ballot each round after that? Or does each individual delegate no matter what get to have their own ballot and vote??

That is the biggest question I need answered. If no matter what delegates get to vote in each round, even if they are bound....anyone know this for sure?? When was the last time they actually counted the votes or even had real votes??

I hope the theory is correct but I don't want to screw up the campaigns strategy by letting the cat out if they don't want everyone to know yet.....

Right now everything is working perfect to stop Romney from getting 1144 while we pick up hundreds of bound and unbound delegates......Keep fighting guys and gals! And I will post more info after I dig more.

"If you put a gun to my head and said vote Romney/Gingrich/Santorum...I would say pull the trigger!"

A strong word of caution!

If you are a delegate for another candidate, please keep a low profile about your support for Dr. Paul. If you get to Tampa you may end up being disqualified. (And they will check your credentials thoroughly.)
