Someone we need to influence.

I am a former liberal who was very much influenced by Amy Goodman on Democracy Now, I understand she has a lot of influence over the Left. Many of my liberal friends get most of their news from her and believe she is a beacon of truth. Her 'War and Peace report' is a daily web/radio/tv show dedicated to war and peace, broadcasting on over 1000 stations yet she rarely if ever portrays Ron Paul in a positive light. Infact she usually goes out of her way to dismiss Paul and his anti-war views. Today on her program she showed complicity in the Virgin Islands blackout. She didn't even mention the March on the Whitehouse last month. I urge everyone to spend a minute and send her a message demanding she report fairly on Ron and to give him the credit he deserves especially for his anti-war position, here:

here as some articles supporting my theory:

Amy plays a large role in influencing progressives and we need her on our side, or at least to report fairly.

Having been educated by her for the last 8 years I have/had a great deal of respect for her. But her dismissal of Paul feels like she is cheating on me, and I find it hard to trust her now... it's upsetting, but enlightening

Does anyone else watch Democracy Now? Do you feel the same way as I do?

who isn't as bad, but where she's often linked or syndicated at AlterNet, well sorta like your experience with Amy Goodman, they've fallen out of favor with me, a long time ago.

Frankly, I hate to say it, but any blog or newssite I visit, I first search "ron paul" to see what the attitude of the writer is, to determine whether they omit, whether they're well-meaning but mis/dis/ill-informed, or are a-holes actively out to malign the Good Doc.

Pass that test, they get a second visit, otherwise they're toast, to me.

I don't know if it's sad or good that Dr. Paul has become a barometer for so many of my activities lately: Pass the 'Ron Paul Test,' you're my friend, fail it, bugger off!

Still, I visit one too many sites from all political factions per day, and merely consider all of them as nothing more than a source of info and/or disinfo for me to discern and more often than not, like sifting through Pravda to puzzle together the Truth buried somewhere on page A3 and D19, to 'read between the lines.'

AlterNet, like RawStory.com, is a site that I used to respect during GWB regime, but has since turned into a bunch of mindless neoLib lunatics spouting anti-RP BS all day, justifying their breathtakingly Marianas Trench-deep cognitive dissonance, as they rationalize away 'humanitarian aid' and oBUSHma's "Kinetic Military Action."

Hell, even Medea Benjamin of the supposed premier anti-war Left movement Code Pink, for first two yrs under oBUSHma sought to rationalize to stay in AfPak to 'defend women's rights,' until it became clear to her that it was an untenable political position; certainly her actions proved that she changed her position, not out of deeply held principles, but out of political expediency. Still, while more in numbers of those who dissent against tyranny is good, the purity of principle to the level upheld by Dr. Paul, is frankly unmatchable by most. We're certainly not gonna find an activist on the Left, even those whom we can work with, like Medea on specific issues, who are as principled as the Good Doc.

Sometimes I almost wish AlterNet were a printed rag, so I can have the joy of burning them in my fireplace, hey may as well make good use of trash, right?

There's a particularly ignorant wench named Adele Stan http://www.alternet.org/authors/8029/ who is a complete econ-imbecile yet deludes she's qualified to lecture the rest of the world on Austrian econ, or on any econ topic for that matter (a socialist lecturing others on economics? Insert your jokes here: _________), without EVER demonstrating that she's read a single book, or even a short treatise, let alone understand anything that has to do with economics. And of course, she goes on the Kirchick train whenever she gets a chance.

Let's face it. There is ONLY ONE principled, philosophically based 'political movement' in this country. You're already IN it.o) Welcome to the r3VOLution!

Plus, sorry to let down the liberals, but both theirs and RINO/neoCON interventionist domestic and foreign policies are gonna fail, for all the obvious reasons parsed ad infinitum here on DailyPaul. But most acutely for liberal impositionists, sorry to say, we like our philosophy and we're armed to defend it, when necessary.

Sucks for them they hate guns. Worst part is, the supposed "nice guys" like a baby rattlesnake who isn't accustomed to controlling its venom sac fully, since they're not accustomed to handling dangerous objects on a frequent basis or learn to incorporate releasing tension in their lives regularsly, when they do suddenly come in contact with Power or dangerous objects, they either go Lord of the Flies (Mayor Quan of Okland was another community organizer who got power and look how she treated the Occupy Oakland protestors) or go Columbine Postal.

We're gonna WIN this PEACEFULLY, but we're gladly armed, just in case.o)

I have a LOT more respect for Goodman than I do for . . .

Beck, but it almost seems that both are suffering from the same malady--

being controlled by moneyed elite--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

yup, while Amy still has a place

especially for her now infamous coverage of E. Timor (though, mysteriously, she's never done that kind of hard hitting coverage ever since; can't say I blame her as she almost got killed doing it) be that as it may, the fact of the matter is, her entire operation could not survive without the funding from private corporatist foundations, nor leeching off of Pacifica Radio.

I lost ALL my respect for her, when she actively sought to NOT DISCUSS & omit ANYTHING to do with 9/11, truly in-depth blowback discussions, nor 9/11 Truth activists, until she was hounded in to submission to hold a pathetic 'debate' between Loose Change producers vs.the Popular Mechanic propagandists who couldn't find intelligence for their half-wit brains, even if 220IQ brains were on sale in Aisle 6 at your local grocery.

She did have Dr. Paul on once or twice in late 1990's and prior to Iraq War. But once it became clear that he IS the de facto most prominent Pro-America anti-illegal war proponent, all her coverage of him ceased, let alone ever inviting him back on again.

For those of still genuinely well-intentioned progressive leanings, I'd say support your local Pacifica Networks like KPFA, http://www.kpfa.org/ especially Bonnie Faukner of Guns & Butter, a most awesome show http://www.kpfa.org/guns-and-butter even if her own econ politics lean more Ellen Brown, the author of Web of Debt and an attorney and what Gary North calls a "Greenbacker" (still for fiat currency, as long as it is made by the States or a FED under Treasury, just like Webster Tarpley, whom I respect immensely on geopolitical analyses, but drives me insane when he goes on to worship at the altars of FDR and the utterly fascist Hamiltonian "American System" that has gotten us to the financial malaise that we are today, like most LaRouchians. Well, considering Tarp used to be Lyndon's no.2 not too surprising. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_School_%28economics%29)

I left (*no pun intended*) the left/right . . .

paradigm behind years ago--

so I will look for info anywhere and question it from any source--

but, while I realized that Amy was being controlled a long time ago--

I prefer her calm demeanor to Beck's ranting.

Yet, they are cut from the same cloth, paid news agents.
