Copy of letter to my federal legislator re: Mosanto and food/biosphere safety:

Pat Davidson is the Conservative Party member for Sarnia-Lambton (across from Port Huron, MI.)

Obama and Prime Minister Harper recently agreed to streamline regulations for speedier cross-border trade. I'm seriously concerned about the FDA having too much influence on Canadian regulators.

Here's two articles that I cite:

and the letter:

Deat Pat,

Thank you for your prompt and courteous reply to my Facebook inquiry. Please find herein, two articles that I find alarming; yet, alarm on this subject is not new to me. I wrote a letter to the London Free Press back in '95 about rBGH, bovine growth hormone developed by Monsanto. The issue in that case was that Monsanto was acting in an anti-consumer manner by fighting against labelling of milk produced with the "aid" of recombinant BGH. Since then I have been watching Monsanto and have become increasingly alarmed at their behaviour.

I ask again, how does our goverment monitor Monsanto's products effects on our health and safety and how much to we rely on an ineffective Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US? I believe this is a particularly salient question considering the recent agreement between Canada and the US for streamling border regulations. The latter article leaves me genuinely concerned about the effects of Roundup on the world's soil.

Sincerely,

Jason Chorostecki
