Weather = RAIN

It's raining cats and dogs out here in Southern California. I doubt there will be many strikers out there...?

IF NO STRIKERS, JUST SHOW SUPPORT & RESPECT

I just got this from a Meetup email:
"My understanding is that we don’t want to have a huge rally in front of the studio due to the ongoing picket line."

But if there's no strikers, I think it's safe to pull out Ron Paul signs and show support. I don't even need to say this... I'm sure it'll be done.

SHOW RESPECT

I totally agree with this.

I totally agree with this. I'll be there tomorrow, and I'll remind our fellow meetup friends to be nice to the strikers (if they are out there).

Not just union people to worry about either.

I was telling a coworker, who is adamantly against unions, about what Huckabee did and she even thought that was bad.

I really hope Ron Paul can get with the strikers ahead of time. If they said no and he respected them, that would be some statement. But their support and an interview would be better.

Hope someone arranges it.

Didn't Ron Paul win the Iowa

Didn't Ron Paul win the Iowa UAW straw poll just a few weeks ago?

Good ideas, keep them coming.

These kinds of humble gestures and goodwill communication will go far. We have got to keep a positive face on the whole revolution. Anything is better than being arrogant and ignoring the facts, or outright denying them, like some fake/deciever/slick/lying candidates.

Brilliant article that explains why we love Dr. Paul:

I don't think there's much

I don't think there's much to worry about. The strikers haven't been out in over 2 weeks.

These writers that are striking are not your middle class unions

Need not worry about crossing most of the country doesn't care about them they all make above middle class cash.......
And they all will be voting Dem

Go Ron Paul

Stephanopoulos cared this morning

Also, Ron Paul has many dem crossovers.

Even if these aren't "regular" union folk, the rest of the country won't see that as a difference. I read some of the articles about Huckabee. They didn't say Huckabee crosses picket line of kinda-sorta union people.

I saw: "Huckabee crosses picket line to appear on Tonight Show".

Democratic nominee will take full advantage of it.

Dr. Paul can't get careless now.

email the writers?

http://www.wga.org/ContactUs/ContactUs.asp?Email=prtemp

I'm sure they get emails sent every day, for everything, and they've already got emails up to the brim... But I'm going to send a friendly letter as a Dr.Paul supporter anyway.

Get ron paul to meet with them better

Will get much deserved news

Give me Liberty or Give me death

Give me Liberty or Give me death

Hope someone can arrange that.

That would be great. If they said no and Ron Paul said, "sorry Jay, I'm gonna respect 'em", that would be huge.

It would be even better if they said they were OK with it and held Ron Paul signs with thier picket signs and the world gets to see an interview with Jay. That would get some press!

Not just the striking writers to worry about!

If the nod isn't given in advance, ANY union person would frown on this.

As far as wondering if HQ has already addressed it, can we afford the gamble?

Hope someone can emphasize the importance of this to them.

Doughnuts won't cut it. GOT TO GET THE BLESSING FIRST.

We don't want any dirt on ya, Dr. Paul.

and ron buttons...great idea!...heard from my striking writer

....friend next door....[btw, this guy likes ron paul]...that it was okay to be on the tonight show because jay leno pays his writers. i specifically inquired because I was concerned about him crossing a picket line.

no worries.

?

He's paying his writers that are striking right now?

Clarification

Jay Leno is not paying his striking writers. He is paying his non-writing workers who were laid off due to the writers strike.

Last time we sent flowers to Leno

Let's put our thinking caps on...what could we do to win the support of the striking writers on site in Burbank? I wish I was home because I used to work practically next door!

hoping that they sympathize with Dr Paul

I'm hoping that the writers, being very intelligent web savvy people, are already hip to the importance of Ron Paul and that when he passes, they will acknowledge that his mission is vital, by softly applauding him, displaying an incredible contrast with their treatment of Huckabee.

A guy can dream

BUMP

It would be nice to make some friends in this crowd. They will not be on strike forever.

Hope someone from the campaign HQ has talked to the picketers

Since this was an issue with Huck, you would think that HQ will talk to the strikers.

Huckabee got nailed by Stephanopoulos

Stephanopoulos called him on it this morning about crossing the picket line.

Huckabee had told the strikers earlier that he absolutely supported them, but then crossed the line by appearing on Leno and got called 'scab' by the strikers. I don't think RP has said anything about supporting them, but this could be bad if he doesn't GET A NOD FROM THE STRIKERS FIRST.

I commented earlier on a previous thread about the Leno appearance, but didn't get any feedback.

-While most REPUBLICANS might not care about unions, RP's supporters are not all typical or traditional republicans.

-Also, when RP wins the republican nomination, he will be going up against a DEMOCRAT who won't hesitate to use insensitivity about strikers against him.

Edwards sounded pretty darn good last night talking in support of the working class, despite his $400 haircut.

This isn't about Ron Paul's 'right' to cross the picket line. Nobody will care about his 'right' to be a SCAB in the general debates where working class and wealthy are pitted against each other.

If he's going to cross the line and this won't be a satellite interview, isn't there some way he can do it cleanly with a nod from the strikers first?

I agree

I can guarantee that him crossing the picket line will cost him union member votes. My father, my brother and his girlfriend, and some of their co-workers. It will be a nail in the coffin for them.

When my dad saw Huckabee on the show, having crossed the picket line, he had nothing but unpleasant words for him.

I'm going to hate seeing their support leaving Ron Paul after tomorrow night. I really wish he wouldn't have followed in Huck's footsteps, when it is very clear that the media is attacking him like he's a scab.

This is one of the negative

This is one of the negative aspects of unions. There are also many positives of course. People have a right to organize. But businesses have a right to conduct business. The shows that the writers work for are of lower quality without them, and that will be reflected by the free market -- people will stop watching. So, the union strike serves it's purpose of forcing a redress of grievances. But the Leno show has a right to muddle along as best it can in the meantime. Inviting candidates is a pretty obvious fallback, because it will attract viewers. But the show can't last forever without writers.

Please try explaining this to your father.

Burbank Meetup is kind of zombified. =\

give out coffee and donuts

but don't preach to them. Wear your shirts and buttons, but don't force a slimjim on anyone. Of course if the strikers ask about Ron Paul, go nuts! :)

Sensitive

If he will be at the studio, it's a sensitive action to do this. People who do this should give out coffee, donuts, and other things. They should wear Ron Paul stickers, buttons or T-Shirts. I do not think they should give out slimjims as I don't think that would go over well with a lot of the strikers. Carry slimjims on you, just only give them out if asked.

I'm not a seasoned campaigner nor do I live in California or NY where strikes are going on, so I don't know. This is just how I see it.

"Only engage if engaged upon", ya know? But make sure they KNOW you're a RP supporter.

Aren't the strikers picketing all over Manhattan, in front of

all the studios, on Broadway, etc.

While there may only be a few at each location. It only takes a couple of converts to past on what they have learned about Ron Paul.

You know the "snowball effect."

are we sure ron paul is going to be in the studio?

I will definitely go, if he is... and take some goodies to the writers.

but I was thinking it will probably be satellite.

That's a lot of flying to do right before the primary.

Dr. Paul will be on Jay Leno's show

Tomorrow for the taping whenever that is. I was told by a good source he is in route now. He will be on the show.

DO RUN RON!!!!!

dodobogo

hey dodobogo,

how reliable is your source?

going to the show involves a lot of preparation, not to mention waking up before dawn and spending the entire day in burbank.
So, I just want to make sure before I commit to it.

thanks.
