Ron Paul Needs A Major Sports Stadium Rally!
Submitted by Independentforl... on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 23:31We need to convince Ron Paul to rent out a large sports arena or stadium like Romney did in Michigan(what an embarrassment that was for him by the way, I think it was only about 200 or so that showed up, so sad) Maybe this could happen in a state like California or Texas? Tonight's rally in Illinois was awesome, but I think it can be BIGGER! I have no doubt in my mind Ron could fill up a 30,000+ stadium in a major city with no problem!! People would drive for miles/hours to see him. I can picture him now, standing on the pitcher's mound addressing the massive audience and promoting his message of peace and liberty! I will be sending an email to his campaign tonight with this suggestion so lets hope this works. Let's show the MSM who has written him off that he HAS been and STILL is, a major force to be reckoned with and will be our next POTUS!

Turn it into a fundraiser as
Turn it into a fundraiser as well. Normally the campaign doesn't charge for entry to rallies, but they could for one such as this, and sell merchandise there, too. 10,000 people at $50/each is $500,000 :) Mini-money bomb right there. Or as you said, 30,000 people = $1.5 million. That would cover the cost of the stadium PLUS end up with a surplus as donations.
Oh YESSS!
what a powerful message that would send
and if everyone who can attend has a camera and
the persons who handle publicity notify many
of the FOREIGN PRESSES to be there the vids would show globally so the American controlled media would HAVE to show at least excerpts from the vids !!
MANY nations media would LOVE such a show of American Populist ingenuity !
PLEASE those who CAN out this together
DO IT!
ask for money HERE and many of us will JOYFULLY help
all we can !
Ron Paul IS our president !
we have to go get him and take him to the Oval Office.
Great Idea....lets try this with a smaller venue and build up...
...from there. We know RP can fill 5,000 seats, so, lets shoot for that.
Now, for the $64,000 question: How can we turn a great idea into the real thing?
Ignore the media's lies and propaganda.
I'd be cautious
I'd be cautious of trying to fill any sporting arena, after the debacle at the Rally. Granted, the C4L did a poor job of managing the floor seats (handing out floor seat tickets the day of, with the promise that you would give your current tickets to someone on the streets to pull more people in).
That resulted in the arena bleachers at the Target Center being half-filled at best for most of the day, with the rest only finally being packed in by members of the media just before Ron came on stage to speak.
Not to mention, only 10,000 tickets were on sale. The arena sits nearly 20,000. The staging area couldn't have covered more than 3k seats. The area opposing the stage was mostly empty with a large unsold section.
So yes, this could be an enormous opportunity. It could also be a disaster. And something like this (again, the Rally took nearly 3 months of planning) isn't quickly pulled together.
Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia 19,500
I suggest the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Capacity approx 19,500. Site of the 2000 RNC.
We can fill it at 6:30 in the morning for a chicken wing eating contest so we should be able to fill it for a Ron Paul rally.
See photo: http://philly.barstoolsports.com/files/2012/02/wing-bowl-cro...
If you hold the rally close to the Penna primary (4/24) you'll also get spillover benefits as the Delaware primary is the same day, and the northern half of Delaware (as well as the southern half of NJ, whose primary is a month later) is in the Philadelphia media market.
Political considerations may limit availability, as the Boss of the company that owns the building was a Rick Perry contributor.
Approached and spoken with in a respectful manner....
"Political considerations may limit availability, as the Boss of the company that owns the building was a Rick Perry contributor."
could easily cause him to accept a fine Rally that PAYS HIM CA$$H in his hand.
Doug Weade is a fine well mannered capable person who could sell the PA contact on allowing Ron Paul to rent his space
Surely there are many others who can do the job
and that is a great location as you say DanInPhilly
I am an hour north of there but no transportation
It would send a LOUD message being in sanits home yard. :)
Commitment
In order to encourage him to do it, we can make a commitment using www.thepoint.com. If enough people pledge to buy tickets, then they won't have to worry about losing money by booking the stadium.
On the other hand, if the event doesn't get enough supporters, then your credit card won't be charged.

Tony Gotto
Big Blue Nation 4 Paul
I suggest Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. It holds nearly 24,000 people and is an hour trip from Louisville, Cincinnati and approximately 3 hours from Nashville, Indianapolis, Columbus, and Knoxville. Plus, his son is a senator here, surely to God he could get the ball moving.

Also, maybe we should have a money bomb in order to provide transportation (Grey Hound?) for people wanting to go. Any price would be worth seeing 24,000 screaming libertarians in one place.

I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: "O Lord make my enemies ridiculous." And God granted it.
Voltaire
Completely Agree
And I point this out in the video I posted today. Great minds think alike :)

And with certainty, I would fly my family out to be part of this. Truly epic times are ahead.....
We need someone who can
take this on. If you build it they will come. It needs to be sooner rather than later. Once the average Joe says "wow, this guy could actually win" it will be all over including Obama.
Well
If it's too big that could backfire, though (Romney's arena was a perfect example). When Ron Paul shows up in a state, people are already driving from out of state to see him. But by the looks of the campaign fundraising being kind of low this year even though the support has increased, it shows we are all having a rough time economically. It is getting tough for many to pay for the gas to travel very far to see him. If we had a giant venue and no more than 1,000-5,000 people were able to show, the MCM might then air it only to use it against us the way we poked fun at Romney's empty arena on the internet.
NOT that I'm saying it would be empty...but Ron Paul's support is spread all over the nation, not really clustered in one area where that many could all afford to cluster together.
I would say it'd be a better idea to have Dr. Paul live stream a speech on the internet, pre-announced, and then see how many from all over the world tune in! More convenient for all of us and we could get better #s that way.
Needs to be in a major metro area
- Los Angeles
- Dallas / Ft Worth
- NYC
Then: no problem. No risk.
He's also the only candidate
He's also the only candidate without secret service security, isn't he? My concerns would be:
1) as mentioned above the risk of not being able to get enough people there, and shooting ourselves in the foot
2) security and related costs for a venue that large
3) Dr. Paul is campaigning so much as it is, traveling all over, can we give him a little break and encourage an online one instead? Wouldn't it also be the first time a presidential candidate live-streamed a rally?
If you all are willing to fly and drive to see him, why don't you just go to his next rally?
Stadium Event
L A Colosseum, Huston Astro Dome, Madison Square Garden or the Meadowlands in NJ $10.00 tickets, Music. ROCK n' RON
Voluntary Association + Mutual Cooperation + 110% Personal Responsibility = 100% Individual Liberty
AT&T Park in SF or the HP
AT&T Park in SF or the HP Pavilion in San Jose
MSM will ignore it
MSM will ignore it
I've been saying this for a
I've been saying this for a while. I really hope they do this. I said this before New Hampshire and I'm sure they had numbers to do it then and also now. It must be done!
A big event will draw attention
The election is getting boring...the media needs one.
The election is getting boring because...
...they are only showing & talking about the other three! That does make it very boring! They are all dull and everyone knows it! Nothing new and nothing different than the same old destructive kind of leaders with empty promises & expensive wars coming out of their mouths. Yawn city!!!Wish we had more debates!
bump campaign you really need to make a version of this
It should be in Austin....central, good weather, the local support is huge. UT is huge.
Austin.
Bump!
Perhaps advertise the event in a way that is similar to the "Black This Out" money bomb from last October.
Not that people need any extra incentive to go to hear Dr. Paul speak. However, if the idea was to fill a large venue as a statement to the media, I think people would be extra motivated to go and ensure a huge turnout.
On Your Bike Ron!
I keep imagining Ron Paul arriving at a rally in California after at least a 10km cycle ride, at the head of a group of Ron Paul supporting fellow cyclists. Entering the stadium to tumultuous cheers, doing a full circuit of the stadium waving to the crowd, would set a wonderful mood for the rally. Support speakers could then make their speeches and/or live bands perform, while he got his breath back and the thousands of Ron Paul supporters along the cycle route made their way to the stadium too and the Ron Paul event of the campaign
Ron Paul always delights in challenging the other candidates to get on their bikes. It would be so good to see him rub his spokes in their wounds, figuratively speaking of course. He would surely have a lot of fun and the crowd would be delighted.
The secret is out. What Dr Paul will be doing in 2021 after his second term as president:

wonderful iconic image
what a fab image that would make on tvs across the world
a GROUP biking in with a few falgs in front and circling like the OLYMPICS and escorting Ron Paul to the DAIS like the Gold Medal Winner!
wow wow wow !
this has to be done
Phila has bus and train to & from NYC and upstate NJ
and PA and huge population itself
Phila would be the best showcase for a dozen reasons
After IRS annual shake down business generally picks up and people loosen the purse strings.
REMEMBER right this minute we are up against Easter and Passover follwed close by IRS theft day.
By end April or early MAY there will be NO problem filling a stadium!
Amazing idea
Very well stated, I can totally imagine it.
agreed
Austin is an awesome city for this, owns Texas
BUMP
I think we could do both Texas and California!
hthomas
good idea!
let him build up some more momentum with the colleges!
..maybe before April 24, 2012 where we have 5 primarys!
or sunny may before the texas primary on the 8th..
Texas primary is May 29th
Texas primary is May 29th unless they changed it again.

Don't worry
He'll probably have a Rally For the Republic 2.0 in Tampa this summer.
