Why I now support Ron running third party...

At first I was loathe to the idea, even calling people trolls and idiots who set our movement back by recommending the idea.

What has changed?

1. Ron has been cheated out of wins with vote fraud.
2. Media refuses to cover him.
3. The major reason? The GOP are cheating, bending if not disregarding their rules for delegate nomination.

I just read Justin's Antiwar blog piece and I beleive his reasons are right. Whats to stop the GOP frombpulling the same antics at the convention they did in 2008?

Ron merely held a convention of his own at the same time as a protest to the convention. What better way to protest then to fracture the already divided and dying GOP?

I was in the camp of going through the GOP to reform it but now I am beginning to feel that this unholy.monster has no saving graces, atleast nothing saveable within the time slot needed to affect change for 2012.

Money is hard to come by this season and I feel Ron hasn't done enough to combat the vote fraud. Joking about it and hinting about hasn't done a single thing to help his case. I will only donate now.if he runs third party.

Many of you are hissing and foaming at the mouth me saying this. I can only say that if I feel this way I am not alone, and this divide within our camp will only grow.

He needs to run 3rd party with a Reform party idea. This will do two three things.

1. It will doom the GOP.
2. It will get him to start a political revolution of starting a new party.
3. It might help reelect Obama in the long term but having a Republican.in office will only produce a blowback similar to having Bush in office with a Republican controlled congress, which will whiplash us into anothe democratic majority in congress soon thereafter.

Atleast I know the people would revolt under a continuance.of.oppressiveness from Obama.

EDIT: I do not endorse Obama or any other person besides Paul, and will only vote Paul, if he doesn't run 3rd party and doesn't win the convention, I will write him in.

Ron Paul is already running in a third party, and on the ballet in all 50 states. Look to the bottom of any ballot for the OTHER party, the REAL grassroots party.

While a lot of people like to set behind thier computers and

speculate about a third party run because the GOP is not playing by the rules they forget about the hours of hard work that a lot of patriots have put in taking the GOP from the neo-cons. What about them? Oh well, nice try, lets give up now.

Iowa GOP now controled by Paul supporters as is Nevada. Many more states are going to follow suite. Give up now? That makes no sense to me.

I have tremendous support for the people that are running against the old guard GOP and winning. I am not ready to turn my back on them. I say stay the course.


All those hours and you have even friendly news sources saying the gop has "officially" written Paul off. You don't have much of a choice to give up or not because that decision has already been made for you.

But sure you can and should continue with things like running for local office, etc...


Why take over a sinking ship

Why take over a sinking ship when Ron Paul has the power to create a new Independence Party? To clean the GOP's house would take another 20 years, until they're all dead pretty much...and we really don't have 20 years. We barely have 5 months to win this thing, but now is NOT the time to drop out.

Ron Paul is going to ride the GOP's bull all the way to Tampa Bay, and he most definitely should. He will hold a grand platform, and he is going to use it. Either he wins the GOP nomination, or he announces America's Independence Party and runs on an independent idea whose time has come. Imagine this...we could actually count our own votes! We need the power of a major Party....we already have it.

America has a 2 party system that has FAILED.

Democrats have a party. Republicans have a party. Independents do not a party. Almost 40% of registered voters in America have no party. They have to vote for either A or B. There is no Choice. The time for a third American political party has come. The Independence Party...the new IP address for America's Independent People.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

At this point, I don't expect a revolution anymore.

I fully expect the American people to not only roll over, bend over, and "take it" without lube, but they will even beg and plead for tyranny.

It will continue to be incremental at times, and we'll get slapped in the face at times, but always those slaps will come after false flags, and the great unwashed masses will raise their stench to even nastier heights and cry for despotism to "save them."

Sorry, I have no faith left in Americans any more. Sure there are a few good ones left. And I fully suspect and expect they will go down fighting, literally, as will I.

But America is dead man. It's over.

No one, not even myself wants to pull the trigger and fire the first shot.

And so, that shot will never ring out.

It will never happen.

The only thing left to do, is pray Paul can win somehow anyway, do whatever we can for him, and prepare for the worst.

Oh, and 3rd party bids are a pipe dream.

There is no way around the MSM and around the debates without a billion dollars.

Agreed. But I decided not to vote in this event. Maybe when the GOP sees that no one is motivated to vote at all, things will change. I have voted in every election since I was 18. If no Ron in this one, not voting.

I'm doing the same thing from here on out.

I'm simply not voting in any election where the candidate doesn't hold to the principles Ron does.

I've already stopped voting most down ticket races, and if I don't know the candidates, I haven't voted in those races for over 10 years.

I suspect and expect though that here in Louisiana, like in 2008, someone will put Ron on the ballot anyway.

A write-in is your final salute to their system.
I have a Sharpie ready just in case.

But I really think that he will be on the ballot, one way or the other.

Sadly, my state doesn't allow write ins.

There's no place at all for it. (push button devices, not touchscreens or paper ballots)

Go to your voting location

Walk in and with a loud voice yell "I vote for Ron Paul" then walk out.


But my polling place is NEVER busy. Just the poll workers. Most amount of other voters I've ever seen at one time was three.

Ron Paul has reached his limit of people in the Republican Party. The party is so littered with neocons, fake Christians and "moderates" that there is no way he can win over anyone else. If he goes 3rd party, he can take the hard core liberty base that's in the GOP and add anti-war people. This does not mean that the grassroots supporters should stop working in the local GOP. Obama is going to win as it stands because he can always pretend to be less warlike than the GOP nominee. RP going 3rd party will knock the anti-war leg of Obama's stool out from under him.

RP going 3rd party will be invisible.

What part of that don't people understand?

There is NO WAY he can win as an independent or 3rd party. NONE.

It is not possible.

I challenge anyone to show otherwise.

Paul already is invisible and lost being in GOP

and then he would lose more with a deal with Romney to support him.


We MUST do our due dilligence

Before leaving the rotted carcass of the GOP we must take it all the way to Tampa. We must campaign, get our message out, vote, caucus, delegate, go through the motions, play by the rules, plead our case, petition, persuade, rebuke, record and document all of our injustices and wrongs along the way. We must exhaust every avenue and option and suffer all the despicable designs, deceits and lies until we are fully justified that we did indeed do everything in our power to save this party, country and humanity by enacting a peaceful revolution as did the founding fathers before they declared this after all that they could do to prevent it: (please reread it, highly relevant, emphasis added)

We can go to Tampa, but Tampa is too late to make the move.

It will have to be before that, by early May for an LP slot, or late May for an independent bid.

In that case, going to Tampa will be the consolation attempt at best.

Lots of discusion here about the various 3rd parties,

one question, is it possible to run on several parties at once? Libertarian, Constitutional, Americans Elect, etc.?

Not in some states, perhaps in none.

There are laws against being supported by more than one slate of Electors.

Fusion tickets are also out of the question because it will cause some parties in some states to lose ballot access.

Well I have also read Justin's piece and a lot of his thoughts are very valid.

There is also one MAJOR area he has not given any thought to at all.
How does Ron Paul go from his core base to a wider appeal?
It required a certain focus to get a decent sized core base in the frst place.
And it needs a different focus altogether to move beyond his core base.
(That is not changing any policies, that is changing the focus.)

One thing that Justin is going to be wrong about is that 2/3 of a Ron Paul 3rd party candidacy would be Republicans. That would require about 45% of all Republicans.

Most of the votes would come from Indies with some protest votes from young GOP and Dem's.
I don't believe that Ron Poll would get more than say 15% of the vote 3rd Party.
He could get 20% if Obama starts bombing Iran and the coming financial meltdown had already started.

I don't support a 3rd party candidacy, I think it would do more harm than good.
I don't know what Ron Paul thinks.
But give the guy a break he has worked his @ss for 25 or more years and he is 76.

All speculation about 3rd Party Candidacies is counter productive and a distraction.

There should only be one focus of attention for everyone at the moment.
Getting more votes and more delegates for Ron Paul NOW.
That is a benefit whatever might happen in the future.

Not even close really.

Paul's support in the GOP ranges from 6-12% depending on the State.

Cut that in half for general election numbers.

He gets the rest of the GE support from people who would not register GOP to vote for him.

I think 15% is conservative but a little rosey.

7-9% is more likely if he can manage to somewhat stay visible.

If he can raise 500 million, and somewhat circumvent the media, he might get near the 15%, maybe even 18-20%, but by then, he'd HAVE to get into the debates.

No debates = < 10% guaranteed.

Now, if he can raise a BILLION (I know right?) OR, by a miracle the media gives him fair coverage like the other two, then it's own like Donkey Kong for the win. (not guaranteed, but doable) And even then, it will probably be a squeaker with less than 40% in most states. It might even go to the House.

But you are correct, anything short of that pipe dream is mud.
