Missouri Caucus Gets Ugly and Cancelled!

http://thetreeofliberty.com/vb/showthread.php?t=160017

I just found this in comments from another post here at DailyPaul. The link is to a message board where you can read the report from a Paul supporter who was there, or as I've excerpted below:

"Well, I just got back from my caucus in St. Charles County, Missouri and it did not go well. First of all, the caucus was supposed to start at 10am but the lines were so long that they decided to let anyone who got in line by 10am to get in. The actual meeting didn't even start until approx. 11:10am and this black guy (Eugene, I think he was the St. Chas. County Republican Chairman), tells everyone to turn off their video cameras and that recording is not allowed. The place went ballistic and then Eugene told the cops to arrest this guy who was video recording. The cops went up to arrest the guy and everyone started yelling things like, "First Amendment Rights!", ""Defend the Constitution!", "Arrest the chairman!" The cops realized that this could get ugly so they backed off and called for reinforcements. The meeting was stopped until about a dozen or so more cops showed up. Then Eugene started the meeting again and announced that anyone caught video taping would be arrested. Right after that he asked for a nomination for Caucus Chairman. Brent Stafford was nominated and was overwhelmingly endorsed by the crowd. This Eugene nazi fellow, completely ignored the crowd and nominated this white guy tool who Eugene immediately announced as the Caucus Chairman without any support at all. The place went ballistic and the Romney and Paul supporters realized that we were being screwed. The place continued to go nuts and so the caucus was completely canceled and guess what?! St. Chas. County will not have any delegates to respresent them in this election. The only thing I can figure out is that maybe this Eugene character and his coharts were Santorum supporters and they saw that Romney and Paul were going to get the majority of the delegates so they decided to stir up this trouble. I am sorry to ramble on like this but I am so shaken right now. What I just witnessed seems like something that came right out of the nazi playbook. I'm stunned that something like this could happen in one of the most conservative republican counties in Missouri. Just stunned."

The above is from a Ron Paul supporter who is stunned now, and filed that report right after his caucus experience. Don't stay stunned. This stuff IS the GOP as it exists. Get active!

Will the St. Charles Police...

Will the St. Charles police please cite the code where "trespassing" has taken place?

Will those same police, and sheriffs, and highway patrol and God knows what other law enforcement swarmed on that peaceful, but noisy assembly, under the Newspeak of "keeping everyone safe"...please cite your legal authority to interfere with and enforce the shut-down of a presidential caucus??

Will the local GOP please explain the following: Was this not a caucus which was called and which could be held at no other location but this one, and do the Americans invovled here have the natural rights to assemble and cast their votes for this all-important presidential nomination?

Will they please explain as to how they could invent an unconstitutional "rule", again defying the first amendment, where no video (in a public place!) could be used?

Will the police (and the GOP who called them)...please explain as to why the arrest of Mr. Stafford was not an "unnecessary seizure", in BLATANT violation of the Fourth Amendment?

In light of all the above, and the natural rights to assemble and speak (cameras included), and the right to VOTE...FREE OF INTIMIDATION, not to mention to be guarded against "unnecessary searches and seizures"...

Will the police and the GOP please cite laws on the books that give them the right to subvert the Constitution of the USA, and interfere in such an adverse way to prevent and close down a presidential caucus??

Yeah I thought so. They can't.

Rather than charge these individuals for 'trespassing'..the local GOP jackbooted thugs that ramrodded the caucus...and the cops that stepped out of their oath to defend the Constitution by violating it...should ALL be charged with felony VOTER INTIMIDATION.

Time to INVESTIGATE the investigators of 9/11. PROSECUTE the prosecutors. EXPOSE the cover-up.

St Charles Missouri, your must repeat mtg Immediately

Do not let St Charles be cheated of delegates. Call the Election board of the USA to have the convention rescheduled. Get a lawyer. Get your delegates before the state convention in Missouri. Sue if the GOP does not cooperate. If you sue, make sure to have a lot of real proof, film ,pictures etc. Be courteous, but assertive.

"March 22, 2008 - Although

"March 22, 2008 - Although Paul received just 3.8 percent of the vote during the primary race in St. Charles County"

And you expect the public NOT to be outraged at your behavior! You are trying to strong arm the nomination AGAINST the will of the majority of people! What the hell is wrong with you people? Embarrassing! Get control of your emotions!

Did you notice during at least one of the debates(and I suspect all of them), Ron Paul would ALWAYS stop talking when his allotted time had expired, yet all the other candidates would continue talking until the moderator had to over ride them. Now THAT is a man with self control and integrity! That small group of angry Ron Paul supporters in St Charles are a disgrace to his movement!

Please come up with a strategy that is better than acting like a gang of arrogant loud mouthed thugs to steal the nomination!

Unless you were there...

you are just projecting your own bias on the attendees. Numerous reports indicate the majority was in favor of another chair and another set of rules, and that the temporary chair was violating procedures and making a mockery of the caucus. Had he not had the police behind him the convention would likely have ignored him and conducted their business properly. It was the decisions of 2 people determined to railroad through their plan that turned the convention into chaos and disenfranchised thousands of fellow Republicans.

So, St. Charles county chairman, please come up with a strategy that is better than acting like a gang of arrogant power-hungry thugs to steal the nomination!

How exactly...

do you suggest we should handle future situations like this... when the GOP makes up the rules as they go along, in fact they don't even know the rules. I do agree we need to get control of our emotions but we still need to be heard!

The Revolution process will be ugly at first but this is how it starts.

Why? Because he is trying to

Why? Because he is trying to follow the will of the people, and not your will? Wow you are the reasonable one!

Egan

A long time ago, a man named Henry Martyn Robert compiled a process of order to ensure meetings could be managed in an orderly manner. We call this Roberts Rules of Order.

The best way to maintain order is to follow the predefined rules. If your team has a foul, and the referee calls it a touch down, the affected players would be quite upset. It breaks down the basic system of order inherent in the system.

To your point about popular vote: We do not live in a pure Democracy. Under the GOP rules, we have persons who have been appointed by their districts to represent their districts. This requires an ENGAGED public. Going to vote, and then going home does not constitute being engaged in the process - especially when others are willing to be MUCH MORE engaged.

So, in order to truly win against the Romney, Paul (and possibly Gingrich supporters) Santorum's voters must not only show up in numbers, but in fervor as well. The most vocal, active and fervent supporters of a candidate will decide the delegate count and determine the winner.

There are ways to deal with this through the rules process of the party. For example, some states require delegates to be bound based on the proportional vote.

In this case, that is not in the rules. Therefore the players (Romney, Paul, Santorum, Gingrich supporters) must play within the rules to WIN.

It isn't about forcing a decision, as much as it is about playing by the rules, to determine a FAIR outcome. Ignoring the rules is just unreasonable and AGAINST the will of the people.

hehe. One last thing. The men

hehe. One last thing. The men would not answer. But if Ron Paul had won the majority of the popular vote in that county and a small group of Santorum's supports showed up "won" the delegates, how would you feel? Would you be upset with the system? Or would you feel like you were cheated out of representation?

My statement goes unchanged.

My statement goes unchanged. Even if Paul had won popular vote in the STATE and ALL districts, and Santorum's supporters, by following the party rules had won the FULL slate of delegates, I would not feel cheated. I would be upset and sad at OUR GUYS for not doing better, but I would feel it was a justly deserved victory for Santorum's delegates. I would applaud them as such.

For example, Romney wound up performing very well in the Virgin Islands. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but he used a very smart tactic. Instead of filling the full slate of 6 delegates, he only had 3. Paul's votes were spread thin over the 6 delegates, while Romney managed to garner more votes for each of his 3. He wound up winning the delegates due to playing the game better.

I can't deny I want my candidate of choice to win. However I do NOT want to win by cheating. That is not a win at all.

I can not presume that you feel differently, simply because you support Santorum. Am I wrong?

..and it may not be a "pure

..and it may not be a "pure democracy', but if your candidate(and) my candidate) has such a small percent of local votes, how do you call that ANY form of democracy. The way I see it, you are taking advantage of an unprepared system and the local people. You are stealing their legitimate representation and replacing it with the personal wishes of a small majority! How do you sleep at night behaving in such a way?

They will fix this system now. Mark my words! The local majority will demand representation, and as they deserve!

You are absolutely right.

The Neoconservative movement has stolen the legitimate representation due the Republican Party.
We are currently fixing the system. The local majority is rising, and the GOP will return to their libertarian roots.

The Revolution is here.

The third party strategy is more noble and has a better chance at success.

Where was Egan when the lights went out?

at the Washington state caucus in 2008 after Mc Cain temporarily
pulled ahead in the vote and they stopped counting and he was declared the winner because they said it was "getting late."
Where was Egan when 8 precincts went missing in Iowa?
Where was Egan when Washington County was told its vote didn't count?
Where was Egan when exit polls didn't match votes in Nevada?
Where was Egan when they charged $50 admission to the Alaska caucus to keep out Ron Paul College Students?
Where was Egan when the MSM reported Romney the winner in the Virgin Islands even though Ron Paul had won?
Mtter of fact why is Egan here now when he has the whole MSM availble to peddle his trash?

My advice

I encourage you to take your energy and enthusiasm, find a party that you agree with, and work to become a policy maker.
I wish you the best of luck in your endorsements, media presence, fund raising, and voter recognition.

I however, am a Republican. This is MY party. It has been my party since I first found out what the political system was. It has drifted away from its base, and degenerated in a warmongering, spiteful, hateful version of corporate cronyism meets big-government theocracy.
It is also Ron Paul's party. He would have remained in the party if he didn't feel that Reagan had lied and drifted away from the campaign promises he made so long ago. He has been fighting for this cause as long as I have been alive. The least I can do is follow his wisdom and redeem the once Grand Old Party.

I can not speak for others, but I am quite sure that others feel the same.

I honestly wish your candidate the best.
Should you take my advise, I wish you the best of luck in YOUR 3rd party endeavors.

They are mistaken

It is true that too many people in this country think that the voting process is a pure democracy. However, that is just mob rule, when the ignorant and easily-manipulated have as much voice as someone who studied the issues and everything at stake.

Our founders didn't want our country run by ignorant masses. They wanted it run by people who actually know what's going on. That is why they set up a republic instead of a democracy.

I understand what you mean, about why "they" would be upset. But that is entirely their own ignorance that caused it. It is not our fault that they are upset. We are doing this right.

Wake up! Wake up! It is only

Wake up! Wake up! It is only a dream! If you can not understand that Ron Paul has no chance of winning the Republican nomination at this point, then...I don't know what to tell you. Maybe just strap that tin foil hat on! It is going to be a rough ride for you!

Do you really think a man that has only received maybe 10% of the popular vote will get the nomination? And even if he did, who would vote for him stealing the nomination under such conditions?

I am done here! For tonight :P You people really are delusional! No wonder the main stream says Ron Paul supporters are all drug addicts! And now with this rude behavior! The head lines are reading, "RON PAUL SUPPORTS ARRESTED". oh man! This is getting worse by the minute! Please try to regain some dignity! The public is watching!

Eugene Dokes is Egan1970!!!!!

Your a joke

Frothy must and will not be this parties nominee.

You better be ready for long, long ride

A good number of Ron Paul's supporters are in their 30's. We are young. We are irate. We are tireless. And we are PISSED OFF.

This isn't just about Paul getting the Presidency. It is about routing out the cancerous disease that has overtaken the GOP, and is sucking away at the tree of Liberty for the entire nation.

You can call us names all you want. Ad hominem attacks can not strengthen your weak argument in the presence of those who THINK. The truth is that Ron Paul is the only statesman running. He has a message and an ideology that is much more powerful than just a man.

I realize you are afraid. You are struggling to grasp onto any shred of knowledge that you thought you had. You are here trolling to regain your hope that perhaps things aren't as they appear. Perhaps your words have some power. Perhaps people care.

You should be afraid. Ron Paul's message is being received by more and more each day. Long after this primary is over, Paul will be remembered as a visionary who turned the tide of WORLD politics. The others will be mere footnotes mentioned only in the context of Ron Paul's success.

Please, continue to post your commentary on the Daily Paul. If you are an intelligent person, eventually your comments will begin to show that. If not, your words will remind us who we fight against.

We're not giving up. Ever. Deal with it.

Well thought out comments like yours

is one of the reason I still read through the threads here at the DP. Although, I've noticed a decline in overall quality and intelligence in the last six months or so in the comment sections, probably do to the ever expanding number of supporters. I find myself reading fewer and fewer comments and just cruising for news, but thank you for taking the time to explain our positions on these issues, You inspired me to comment for the first time in awhile.

Read the Rober's rule of order

If you continued the meeting some place else that would count as the delegate meeting. Just gather in a parking have a role call . And the the RNC according to RR of order. They have to let you select delegates.

nothing stunning at all

the NeoGOP party just gets their dictates and money from DC. They have been in power for a long time, and all this corruption is just coming out to the forefront. It was always like this, it just now that ordinary citizens are trying to get their country back. It will take some time to throw out all the criminals. Time, effort, and hard work.

You have to watch out because the party figureheads will try to nominate their own secret slate of delegates to the national convention. Watch out for that, and if you see it file restraining orders.

Black and White...

Who cares who was black or white, all that does is distract people. Eugene is his own man, doesn't matter the color of his skin (nor the guy's he elected).

Jack Wagner

Yeah it doesn't matter

But you are allowed to say it. Like saying the guy in the red shirt or woman with the blonde hair. It helps to identify who they are.

Neat little mind-control

Neat little mind-control trick foisted on us by the social engineering class, eh? The minute you identify someone by their race the entire fabric of the discussion changes. Not only is race a distraction, but more importantly a diversion away from the pertinent issue.

Fortunately there remains the tireless minority who can still think.

Not really it's the truth

But I do think it can be used by some to divide us into groups an diminish our strength. We should all be working and looking out for each other.

Lord Acton, Lord Chief Justice of England, 1875 - "The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the People v. The Banks."

Complacency

You know that we are to blame for this don't you? We've become so mired in our comfort zone, have become so complacent that we have let the criminals in government all but robbed us of our rights.
We need to continue to be involved in this effort to remove the corruption from the Whitehouse and government offices from the Federal level and on down to the state, county, and city or they will take everything away. There is no honesty in the government anymore.
They haven't been fighting fair for along time and it's time we turn the tables ane Restore the Constitutional Republic and the Constitutional Role of the Government.
Thanks for reporting what you experienced today. I am sorry that this happened but not surprised.

The chair should have been

The chair should have been replaced, however I don't think the cops would have allowed it. See the problem?
