Why Santorum is Ahead of Ron Paul & What Can be Done About It

http://www.nolanchart.com/article9470-why-santorum-is-ahead-...

Why is Rick Santorum, who voted to increase the debt ceiling 5 times, who voted to support the Bush Medicare D drug entitlement that U.S. Comptroller General David Walker referred to as "the most fiscally irresponsible piece of legislation since the 1960s", and who "vocally and publicly" opposed the Tea Party movement, winning the Tea Party vote?

...

On February 14, 2012 CBS Evening News reported "asked what qualities they looked for in a candidate, they picked moral character and values. Those are Santorum's strong points. Beating Barack Obama used to be the #1 thing people cared about, it's now the fourth thing they care about". That doesn't seem to be a fluke because exactly one month later CBS News Political Hotsheet was reporting the exact same thing

...

But a few changes in his speeches and campaign style could easily propel Ron Paul as the #1 "moral values candidate". You hear Rick Santorum talking about he was the son of a coal miner and and the importance of family in his life and likely this is why Santorum connects with voters. Ron Paul's speeches on the business cycle and the evils of the Fed go over the heads of most people. Paul should should mention much more often his marriage, family life, upbringing, military career, and charitable medical work.

...

In Feb. 2012, a USA Today / Gallup poll showed that in a general election, Romney came in tied w/ Obama a 48% each, Ron Paul came in second at 49% Obama ~ 46% Paul, Santorum came in third at 43%, and Gingrich came in last at 41%. This poll shows that Paul is more electable than Santorum and again is within the margin of error to defeat Obama. A February 2012 poll showed that while all the GOP candidates would lose to Obama if elections were held today, Ron Paul actually did best with a slight advantage over Mitt Romney. Paul also did best among independents, not only outscoring Romney and Santorum but even President Obama.

So basically, he needs a scandal

The Sandusky incident comes to mind.

Santorum's father and mother

Santorum's father and mother were both professionals. One of them was a psychologist, or psychiatrist.
No one with strong values should be voting for Santorum. Moral character and values are not found in Santorum. People who can attend his rallies who know who and what he really is need to be there to call him out.
He's an f'ing liar.

What?

"Ron Paul's speeches on the business cycle and the evils of the Fed go over the heads of most people. Paul should should mention much more often his marriage, family life, upbringing, military career, and charitable medical work."

Nonsense. Ron's not running a popularity contest, he's running a political race. That's why we like him - he's got all those good personal traits but he doesn't have to brag about them - it's not about Ron Paul per se, it's about the message....jeez when will these pundits get it?

Unfortunately, a political

Unfortunately, a political contest IS a popularity contest. The reports explicitly show voters are attracted to Santorum's personality (however deranged that may be) and NOT b/c they think he has the best chance to beat Obama. None of Santorum's followers know what his economic policy, what is voting record was, or seriously believe he has the best chance to beat Obama. So what's left? "Moral character" and "values". Ron can keep talking about the Fed and the business cycle but needs to mix in the "soft" stuff to win over new voters who don't know or understand politics and economics (news flash: that is the VAST majority of voters).

Doug Wead did a short answer Q/A on facebook the other day:
https://www.facebook.com/RonPaulCoalitions
Someone asked "Shouldn't Paul mention much more often his marriage, family life, upbringing, military career, and charitable medical work to win over voters?"

Wead's reply: "yep"

So there's nothing to lose but plenty to gain. Ron Paul's not winning the popular vote so an adjustment in strategy is a good idea

Santorum just wants to bring back the good-old-days....

of the Spanish Inquisition.

I thought cheney gave me the

I thought cheney gave me the heebie jeebies...but frothy tops that.

Ron Paul or Bust

I like the part how he

I like the part how he refused the congressional pension 30+ years ago! Now that proves integrity! He should tell people! Come on Ron! Our country depends on you!

And he needs to explain that he is not supporting porn and drugs! He is supporting freedom!

Maybe it sounds paranoid....

but I truly think that the reason the MSM is pushing Santorum is that he is fairly young and good looking and likely to attract the votes of unwary Republicans.

AFTER he gets the nomination and we find out this guy wants to have bedroom police in every neighborhood, ban kneeless swimming suits, and bring back the Inquisitions and Salem Witch Trials - nobody in their right mind will vote for him.

And the American public will reelect Obama on the theory - better the devil you know than the one you don't.

who can be good-looking with

who can be good-looking with the constant smarmy look of his YU!

Ron Paul or Bust

Instead of a debate, Santorum could have a smug-off with Obama.

Both are noted for their smug looks, but you can't see Obama's as well as he tends to point his nose toward the sky while doing it.

oh yeah and espacially his sexy sweater vests... o_O

..the only reason and that should be evident by now is RON PAUL!!
Once Paul picks up the anti romney vote then he is the frontrunner.

After Santorum gets the nomination we will find out that from

now on - Sweater Vests will have mandatory sleaves, as well as padded bras built in to prevent nipples showing from man-boobs, as well as in case women should put one on by mistake.

Later versions will include permanently attached pants.

We must get the information out!!

Only distributing flyers everywhere can help us accomplish that.
Church - windshields!

Thanks

I wasn't sure where to find the link for that.

Paul ahead

Paul is actually ahead of Santorum in delegates, but yeah, we need to expose this guy somehow. Unfortunately, that would involve logical thinking patterns in the brains of Santorum supporters.

In case any are thinking logically, the following may help:

http://www.dailypaul.com/220679/wooing-the-christian-voters

I stand by my stance

that Santorum and Paul should not be fighting eachother, rather both should be attempting to prevent Romney from winning 1144.

That's the only way Paul can win: Romney must lose.

yeah but better for ron paul then for santorum..

Most of it is just the anti romney vote.
Santorum may sell his delegates to romney or some other candidate in the convention. He is a liar. And we need to get the word out everywhere!
