Study: Romney Most Unpopular Presidential Candidate in Generation

By Greg McDonald | NewsMax

Mitt Romney would have to turn in the best performance of any modern presidential candidate between now and the general election in November to beat President Barack Obama, according to an analysis by The Daily Beast.

The former Massachusetts governor’s favorable ratings among potential voters are the worst of any likely presidential nominee in the past 36 years, the Beast reported Monday, citing a breakdown of at least 20 polls showing an extreme lack of enthusiasm for the Romney campaign.

“Since 1976, no serious contender, Democrat or Republican, has watched his favorable ratings fall as low as Romney’s have in recent months. Or watched his unfavorable ratings climb as high. Or watched his overall numbers stay underwater — that is, more unfavorable than favorable — for so long,” the Beast reported.

I was a Buchanan brigaider back then.....

and after Pat won the New Hampshire primary, all Hell broke loose on him...It was awful. They trashed him all over the place to ensure Bob"the dullard" Dole could win....And of course,he lost to the corrupt, statist Bill Clinton...

Ron Paul'08

Buchanan brigaider back then.....-me too

Bob"the dullard" Dole - It was depressing to see that older (and more heroic) version of Romney bore the Republican base into staying home.

"And of course,he lost to the corrupt, statist Bill Clinton...", the cum back kid whose fiscal "success" is directly attributable to Greenspan. It actually did look like we might inflate our way out of much of the debt.

Actually, now that I think of it, no one has really expressed the case that this is just Bob "stop lying about my record" Dole all over again. Romney can control his temper much better, but both of them are just unprincipled political mechanics.

Television: Why do you think they call it "programming"?

Just as planned ...

Keep up the fight, boys and girls. Everything is lining up perfectly for an open convention in August. Winning the nomination (even if with unenthusiastic support at first) will blow open national discussion of and awareness to critical issues (like the Fed) which have never been part of the mainstream political discourse until now. Even in the case that Paul loses to Obama, the run will have awoken more minds to the injustices going on in this country than ever before. Paul becoming a candidate in the general election will truly launch the revolution into high-gear.

Thank you

Most republicans only support

Most republicans only support him because they view him as the only candidate who can beat Obama, the lesser of two evils.

His pathetic support is held up on a house of cards

I think we want to be careful

I think we want to be careful that he doesn't hit a snag and plummet like a stone. We need a balanced race to ensure a brokered convention

Can you provide the link?

Very interesting. It would be helpful if you provided a hyperlink to the study. Thanks.

And To Think The GOP Lines Up For Him

I've never seen a party work so hard to lose.

You must not have been around in 1996

"Bumbling Bob Dole" was just as bad.

I Was A Democrat Then (Hadn't Started To Question Things Enough)

Did the GOP bend over backwards for Dole to change rules, manipulate the media, manipulate the votes, and disrupt Caucus meetings?

Not that I recall, but then , it wasn't Reagan but Bush, the VP

who was running. It was Dole because Bush *had* to win.....and Dole was a Casper Milquetoast type of candidate, likeable but not 'electable'.

1996 was Clinton v. Dole

Vice President H.W. Bush ran after Reagan in 1988 "read my lips no new taxes". He was up against Dole and Robertson at that time.

Dole ran against Pat Buchanan and Steve Forbes in 1996 and won the nomination for the Republican Party to go up against Clinton. He lost.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

That's funny,

Seems they like to run folks more than once...especially if they are getting something they really want by losing.....

and the tagline you chose really says it all....
