I didn't know "law" (created by people) and also "give" people their rights.... If that even makes sense...

Honestly, the Constitution, and the Amendments are declarations of our human rights, they don't "give" us what we have already :P

It's a trick question

I think they are testing people to see who believes that it is the 2nd Amendment that in and of itself "gives" us the right to bear arms. If yes, then the polster or elected person would then justify they can take that right away.

If the poll leans "no", then once again they use that data to take the 2A away based upon popularity.

I am not answering the poll. That would only lead to debate, and in every debate comes a compromise or loss. I am armed and that is all that needs to be known.

If they were so concerned about truthful polls and voting then prove it to me by stopping the oppressive tactics against us and Ron Paul during the primaries. They can kiss my ass.

How's that for an answer.

How can government give us a right that is unalienable?

I already have the right to arms and don't need a law to protect me. that's what the gun is for...

The debates on the

The debates on the constitutionality of the 2nd amendment always baffled me considering any slightly logical person can see clear as day what it means.

Some argue that it only talks about a militia needing firearms. What those people fail to realize is that militias are almost always formed in a time of need. How are we to form a militia after our rights and our firearms are taken from us?

Others argue that it is hard to tell exactly what it means in that it was written so long ago. Apparently these people do not understand what history is or they would know that several of our founding fathers have commented about the meaning and the mindset of views regarding the populous being armed.

Only corrupt, power hungry elites seem to ignore these facts and try to disarm the public to lessen the danger of their eventual complete takeover being thwarted by force of arms. Surely a competent(honest) judge in the Supreme Court would see these facts in a second.

the 2a is nice for confirmation. But my right comes from being a human being.period. Personally i'm pretty sure this is the reason fascism crawls at a snails pace - one link at a time, don't wanna wake the dog. They really are afraid of us - they just don't want us to know that. That is the trick they haven't figured out how to pull off. In the end there is only one thing they understand - sadly.

Our rights come from God

Our rights come from God. The only legitimate purpose of government is to protect those rights. The 2nd amendment is merely codifying a right (self-defense from anyone - including the gov't - not target practice) that existed prior to the formation of any government.

Remember what the Declaration of Independence says,

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights...That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men..."

Note the order: God is first, man is second, government is third - just how it ought to be.

Nowadays, with the NWO types, it's exactly the opposite: government is first, man is second, and God is thrown out of the picture.

Just remember if the government (via the 2nd amendment in your question) is the source of our rights, then the government can take them away.

Actually, I don't believe it

Actually, I don't believe it does. In my opinion, the right to keep and bear arms existed even prior to the 2nd Amendment.

The 2nd Amendment does not give us the right to bear arms but instead secures & protects our right to bear arms from being infringed upon by the government. It's all there in the text of the amendment:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.


Of course it doesn't!

The 2nd Amendment is just words on a piece of paper - words that forbid the government to interfere with our preexisting right to bear arms.

If a fearful populace managed to repeal the 2nd tomorrow we would have the exact same right to bear arms that we now enjoy; we just might have to work harder to exercise it without persecution.
