I watched this last week - 10 outta 10
Corgan is obviously a fan of the show and was well prepared to deal with Alex and he way of getting guests to speculate on issues they have no expertise in.
All in all it was a very thoughtful interview

Something I have always wondered about. Are smashing pumpkins absolutely fabulous pumpkins, or is smashing pumpkins an act of violence against the hapless cucurbits?

well, that's the way I perceived it. I mean seriously, come on, how 'dangerous' can a bunch of sweet looking long-haired and bald grunge rockers from the State of Washington, you know, of java beans and lattes be?
That, or maybe, they meant it as an ironic double entendre, BECAUSE of their outwardly benign grunge rocker look, it'd be funny to be British "smashing" as well as physically about to engage in a melee of smashing your favorite fruit/vegetable? in the gourd family, 'smashing.'
Well, I guess I'll be taking the safer route, out of your intriguing literary morass and state: BOTH an adjective AND a verb!
