The Trojan Horse

The election-year Trojan Horse gun control bill has reared it’s ugly head again.

Over the summer, Gun Rights groups mobilized gun owners like you in opposition to H.R. 822, the so-called “National Reciprocity Act.” It passed the House last fall, and has been introduced in the U.S. Senate by Democrats Mark Begich and Joe Manchin, as S. 2188.

While the idea that all states should recognize a concealed weapons permit is sound public policy, the use of the anti-gun federal bureaucracy to implement it is simply foolish.

Call your U.S. Senators and make clear that you want to keep the federal government’s hands off your permit and that you are opposed to federal intrusion into the concealed weapons permit process. Urge them to oppose S.2188.

Once the federal government is in the business of setting the standards for concealed carry permits, it’s only a matter of time before they start using that power to restrict our rights.

Now, you may hear arguments that this bill doesn’t do that, and maybe that’s true… for now.

But, once this bill starts moving, anyone can amend the bill with anything… and no legislation can bind a future Congress in any way.

That doesn’t count what Obamacrats in the Department of Justice might dream up as the “regulations” to carry out the legislative “intent.”

You know that Department of Justice well, headed by Attorney General Eric Holder.

We want to do everything possible to keep Eric Holder away from lists of gun owners.

Gun owners have enough trouble with Republican-run Executive branches implementing the law improperly. Does anyone really think the Obama Administration is going to treat gun owners fairly?

I know many of you are frustrated that you can carry in some states but not others — I’m frustrated, too.

I believe I should be able to carry concealed — without a permit — in all 50 states. That’s what “bear arms” means.

But mark my words, H.R. 822 (and it’s Democrat-sponsored Senate version, S.2188), the National CCW Registration Act, will become nothing more than a Trojan Horse for even more federal gun control.

I understand that many who support this bill sincerely just want their right to carry respected — but cannot due to the fact that their state or another won’t do the right thing.

But the devil is truly in the details… and the details are where this legislation gets sticky.

This bill isn’t just about the right to carry for self defense — it’s a battle over the role of government and the ability to restrict our Second Amendment rights.

Once gun owners let the Obamacrats start mandating whether states recognize permit reciprocity, they will want to mandate what it takes to get and keep those permits.

We’re talking about:
More onerous standards to acquire a permit, so that only FBI agents can pass muster (look at New York’s permit system);
Higher fees;
More training requirements;
A demonstration of “Need” for a permit;
More frequent renewal periods;
Federally-mandated waiting periods;
A national database of all permit holders, accessible by Attorney General Eric Holder;
An extensive, federally-created list of Criminal Safezones, where only criminals will carry and where law-abiding gun owners are vulnerable;
The list of potential problems is endless.

We all need to call our U.S. Senators and make clear that we want to keep the government’s hands off our permit and that we are opposed to federal intrusion into the concealed weapons permit process. Urge them to oppose S.2188.

I haven’t even mentioned that this legislation would shred the Constitutional Carry provisions on the books in Arizona, Alaska, Vermont and Wyoming.

It doesn’t stop with just concealed carry. They’ll co-opt the bill to expand the national Brady Registration Check system to block military veterans with PTSD or individuals with misdemeanor convictions from even OWNING firearms — much less use them for self defense.

Many statists in Washington will co-opt S. 2188 -- just like they did to H.R. 822 in the House -- as part of their grab for more federal power and less individual liberty.

Even now, the statists in Congress are trying to adopt a National ID card, complete with biometric data that they’ve forced the states to conform to their mandated drivers license “standards.”

You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to be worried about this big brother mentality.

The National Association for Gun Rights has been part of a group of liberty-minded organizations which have passed state legislation forbidding cooperation with a National ID card.

While the institutional gun lobby will tell you this is a step forward for CCW permit holders, make no mistake, the National CCW Registration Act is a misguided attempt to protect our rights. It’s like asking the fox to guard the hen house.

They will use this bill as the foundation to create a federal database of CCW permit holders. And then they can link it everywhere the Feds have database connections — state police, doctors and insurance companies under Obamacare, and Medicaid/Medicare.

I’m sorry, but I refuse to entrust my liberty and privacy to a “trust us, they won’t do that” approach to dealing with Obama, the gun-grabbers or frankly most politicians of either party in Washington.

We need you to make some noise, right now!

Here’s what you can do to help:

Call your U.S. Senators at 202-224-3121 and make clear that you want to keep the government’s hands off your permit and that you are opposed to federal intrusion into the concealed weapons permit process. Urge them to oppose S.2188.

Liberal Republicans and so-called “conservative” Democrats are looking for an easy “pro-gun” vote to give them cover before the next election.

That’s why this bill is being offered by Harry Reid’s anti-gun Democrat Senators.

A Trojan Horse gun control bill like S. 2188 is exactly the kind of legislation that will get support on both sides of the aisle in Washington D.C. And remember, the Democrat-controlled Senate has to pass it before it gets to Obama… so this bill will only get worse.

That’s why you and I have to make noise, now!

Trojan Horse

The Trojan Horse is the GOP, and it's filled with Ron Paul soldiers/delegates waiting to storm the convention.

The federal government has no business in this.

Except to simply enforce the 2nd Amendment, and they won't even do that.

The 2nd ammendment was to protect you from government.

The 2nd amendment was a guarantee clause of the constitution and an insurance policy against all of your other inalienable rights that government naturally hates. The 2nd amendment was not about hunting or sport shooting or even guns it was designed to keep a civilian populace at EQUAL ARMS, not just guns, with the forces of government, ensuring a dictatorship and tyranny would never take hold. "A well regulated militia" a militia being ordinary citizens, as well armed and trained as the military professionals the government employs, is what the 2nd amendment outlines. It also does not mean "guns" either, it says ARMS! Arms are the weapons of war, such as: guns, cannons, catapults, swords, ect. Can you picture you and your neighborhood shooting range buddies with your own Tank and SAM turret? Well the founding fathers did and the 2nd amendment was the means of getting you there. Now progressive tyrants have been chipping away at the insurance policy of the constitution for a long, long time. The 2nd amendment as it was written and designed died a long time ago, so this is basically crying over spilled milk now, your tiny 9mm pop guns aren't worth a damn and cant save us from this anyways, it is in fact way too late already.

Eliminate the BATF, then rescind all federal, state and local laws regarding armaments and guns and you've restored the constitution. There is only one man who would even pnder this thought, you know his name well, shout it from the roof tops.

Besides all that, it's unconstitutional.

They probably base it upon a twisted interpretation of the commerce clause, but this has nothing to do with commerce. The only reason the feds should get involved is if a state is infringing the right of citizens to keep and bear arms.

Undo what Wilson did

2nd Amendment was intended to

2nd Amendment was intended to protect us from the federal government, not State governments.

Most state constitutions have a "Right to bear arms" clause for this reason.

If a state were to violate the 2nd, however,

the feds would then be doing their true constitutional duty in rectifying such a violation. Note the President is the only constitutional officer whose constitutional oath is to defend the constitution.

But that's the point. As

But that's the point. As tyrannical as it is, it's not unconstitutional (per US Constitution, it may be unconstitutional per State constitution) for a state to ban guns. Just like it's not unconstitutional for States to have a state religions (used to happen), public schools, and individual healthcare mandates.

In 1798, one of key arguments against the Alien and Sedition Acts was that it was out of Federal authority and infringed on State authority.

Respectfully disagree.

"...shall not be infringed..." is pretty clear, mattering not who is doing the infringing.

I think

You are more than likely right about this, unfortunately.

By claiming there is no conspiracy, you prove to those who believe in the conspiracy that you are part of the conspiracy.

I like

how these things are predictable.

Good post

It seems painfully clear to me that the sole reason (the actual reason) for registration is so that the Feds can narrow down their search when they wish to disarm the public. Thanks for the info.

This is so important

and I hope this stays bumped so that most get to read it.
