Uncle Sam is suing Warren Buffett's company over taxes

It is an odd twist that a company controlled by Mr. Buffett - perhaps the most outspoken businessman in the country in support of raising taxes on the "mega-rich" - is now in a dispute with the government over his company's paying too little in taxes.

The United States government, in a little-followed case in Ohio, filed a lawsuit this month against a unit of Mr. Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, seeking $366 million in taxes and penalties. The Berkshire division at the center of the suit is NetJets, the private-aircraft company that caters to the nation's wealthiest - the people Mr. Buffett says should pay more in taxes.

What a hypocrite

So this fellow who wants tax rates increased, doesn't even pay the taxes that he already owes. Wow. I suppose that this is just more of the philosophy of "Do as I say, not as I do." What hypocrisy. And this is the financial advisor to President Obama? No wonder things are so bad.

The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men and women to not support Ron Paul!

Circus Main tent: Warren Buffett receives bauilout billions!

Circus concession stands: Warren Buffett flips quarters hoping to win another bank... or railroad... Ever vigilant for bailouts that may be laid on taxpayers backs.

A pig in a poke! Warren buffett is a major collector of bailouts

The Heroes of Atlas Shrugged

All you people criticizing Warren and Bill need to recognize that these people have impacted your Lives in tremendously positive ways.

But you wanted more help. Awww, poor poor you!

But they give money to an organization that does one thing you disagree with, and thousands of helpful things. And they didn't take the time to go create another organization similar with that one problem fixed. You wanted more of their time. Poor poor you.

You weak spoiled little sh..s Get your act together. Take care of yourself.

Are they hypocrites? No. They don't want to pay more taxes. That is clearly their position. But rather they taking the Dagny Taggart approach that Paul has taken, they take the Shrugged approach.

A people that don't think for themselves deserves what they get. That is the message from Warren. He knows higher taxes will hurt us. So do you. But there are many who reason, a smart man said it will help, therefor it must. It is to them he is teasing.

Another wake up call - Warren wrote a Thank You letter to the Fed for the bailout money. He is trying to highlight to everyone how terrible the government is. As if to say "Look, you people are all still suffering, but they gave me, the second richest man in the world, money, your money"

Of course, he's paid so much in taxes during his Life, we Paul supporters all agree that he should get it back. All of it. And so should we.

Don't give me that crap. Al

Don't give me that crap. Al Capone and many other criminals did many great things as well like give the vast majority of their money to charities. Doesn't mean they were good people. Buffet is a crony capitalist, having weekly private meetings with Obama, and urging the government to bailout banks when just months before he was buying their stocks knowing they were insolvent. He is the modern day Robin Hood, and in no way is that a good thing.

Would you be a criminal if

Would you be a criminal if the government gave you some of the income taxes it has taken from you back? What if you had to convince them to give it to you?

Getting money back from

Getting money back from something like Social Security is different than benefiting from trillions of dollars of bailouts. And there is no possible way Buffett has payed more in taxes than the benefits he got from TRILLIONS of dollars in bailout money.

You're missing the point.

You're missing the point. Buffet made lots of money off of government regulation. He's not a hero, he's a villain.

gold = money
war = health of the state
liberty = prosperity

Serves him right for

Serves him right for promoting increased taxation. If he really believes that, doesn't he know he can do that voluntarily?!

The Order to it

Warren Buffett's father has been referred to as the Ron Paul of his time, that is, he preached liberty and sound markets.

It appears to me, that Warren has shrugged in a sense. He still pursues business excellence, but his advice to the government is completely opposite to what his father would advise, and what would help the US.

Do you think this brilliant man does not understand that raising taxes on the rich would cause increased shrugging, increased fleeing of the US by businesses and rich people? He knows, and maybe that will benefit him in that our government will collapse and be replaced by a free market.

This should really go viral.

This should really go viral. It's unbelievable the damage that is being done because of Warren Buffett.

Mr Buffett holds his own in buffet & bailout lines.

Why does the US government bailout billionaires?

"They bought [mortgage packages] because they were AAA..." As oft reported, they followed they own silly rules, knowing full will how they were created. the Boyz were the creators. Do you think Warren Buffett owns substantial interest in Moody's, Wells Fargo, General Re Inaurance, etc. All bailout-ees. All on the dole. Why was Warren so quick to buy dismal failures awaiting bailouts in 2007? Tax specials, discount windows? & government guarantee's? The Fed calls one of their recent programs, "Twist." Their long running progam seems more of a swindle.

Ain't no need for Mr B standing in line for buffets nor bailouts. http://www.dailypaul.com/186425/boa-dumps-75-trillion-in-der...

Warren is Good

He has devoted his Life to increasing wealth, which benefits us all. And most of the I Owe You's he has accumulated, he is simply giving away to charity.

He can not be blamed for government's desire for increased taxes. That has been fought since day one.

But when the greater percentage of people have resorted to thuggery in the form of communism, he has decided that both helping the communists, and spending his time fighting, are not profitable. So he has encouraged the beast to continue its own destruction.

This might sound evil. But look how Paul's support has grown due to our weak economy. Good comes of it. Like a flesh wound, we have Lived not feeling the pain for too long. It has reached our brain now. To stop the same repetitive harmful behavior, as a country at large, we need greater numbers to see the truth.

Mr Buffett is a well Fed Buffet! Smorgasborg!

Mr B is a big part of the Fed. He invests major stock holding in various Fed mamber banks & financial corporations:

He advised the US government to bail out big banks. As an insider, he advised the US government to give big banks a jiffy loans... $15 to $25 billion each. Oh, and friends of his that work at Investment Banks or other financial corporations got his investment & endorsement too. Note Goldman morphing into good ol' bank & line up at the bailout trough, 2007.

Buffett is good at collected bailouts from the US Government. He can also hold his own at Banks & buffets. ... Humbug!

Isn't Ron Paul pro-subsidies?

Isn't Ron Paul pro-subsidies? He's always for giving money back to the people paying it. He's only pro-subsidy, because the people are forced to pay such large taxes, and if they weren't then he would vote against them. But we are taxed, so we should want our wealth back.

May I suggest you read more of what Ron Paul writes.

Read less of what our free press sells.

"With all the mass media concentrated in a few hands, the ancient faith in the competition of ideas in the free market seems like a hollow echo of a much simpler day." ~Kingman Brewster, Jr.

"In the real world, the right thing never happens in the right place and the right time. It is the job of journalists and historians to make it appear that it has." ~Mark Twain

I think you hit reply to the

I think you hit reply to the wrong person lol. Ron Paul is pro-subsides as long as it is not redistribution, but reimbursement for taxes paid. And your post doesn't respond to mine.

Perhaps. Atlas Shrugged characters take a life of their own.

James Taggart: The President of Taggart Transcontinental and the book's most important antagonist. Taggart is an expert influence peddler who is, however, does not make operational decisions on his own. He relies on his sister, Dagny Taggart, to actually run the railroad, but nonetheless opposes her in almost every endeavor. In a sense, he is the antithesis of Dagny.

Dagny Tagger: James' sister. She runs the railroad.

Warren Buffett: No direct cousin. He has others run his railroads. His insurances. His electrics. His sugar waters. His Banks. He holds his own at the buffet & bailout lines.

You're confusing Warren's

You're confusing Warren's lack of micromanagement with incompetence. He is nothing like James, or Dagny. Paul is Dagny, staying and fighting. Warren is extremely smart and capable. Take a look at his letters to shareholders.

Buffet's railroad benefits from Obama's Keystone denial

The State Department denied TransCanada a permit on Jan. 18, saying there was not enough time to study the proposal by Feb. 21, a deadline Congress imposed on President Barack Obama.

“Whatever people bring to us, we’re ready to haul,” Krista York-Wooley, a spokeswoman for Burlington Northern, a unit of Buffett’s Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK/A), said in an interview. If Keystone XL “doesn’t happen, we’re here to haul.”

Having the government subsidize your business by suppressing competitors - doesn't get much more like James Taggart than that.

You are confusing what I wrote.

Please read what Ron Paul writes about ending income tax. Ending bailouts. Ending subsidies.

I enjoy Warren Buffett's letters. I hope he enjoys mine.

Ron Paul is for ending

Ron Paul is for ending subsidies and income taxes. But, he also believes that anything which effectively reduces taxes is good, and that includes subsides in the form of tax breaks, which he has spoken in favor of many times.

I have not heard him say that subsidies which reimburse past payment is good, but to me it is a good thing. If one man is able to climb into the dragons den and obtain their wealth back, they deserve it. There is the problem that we can't all have our wealth back, it simply has been destroyed. But until we pull together and end the income tax, I applaud anyone who is able to fend off the beast on their own.

Let something good come of this mess.

I would refer to Ron Paul's stance as advocating small, Constitutionally limited, & responsible government. Tax fair & light. Tax no labor. Collect only taxes due. No more. No less.

You express yourself clearly. I look forward to more of your support for Ron Paul.

I added pertinent historical information about Warren Buffett. He is a very amiable man. The press trots him out via Reuters, Bloomberg, et al when they need a persuasive spokesman. A pitchman. I do not support giving tax funded bailouts to governments nor companies.

Whoops!

I guess that's what you get for bragging about how little taxes you pay!

allegory - ˈalɪg(ə)ri/ - noun - 1. a story, poem, or picture which can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.

Now is his chance

to put his money where his mouth is. He wants to pay more in taxes but only if the gov. makes him do it. He and Bill Gates make me sick when I think of the millions of $'s they give to Planned Parenthood who sterilize women and kill their babies.

No Wonder He Paid A Lower Rate Than His Secretary

He paid the wrong rate!

Gee, an old saying comes to mind,
