Ron Paul has been asked countless times whether he would ever consider running as an independent. Though Dr. Paul has reiterated time and again that he has no such plans, what would the polling numbers look like? Reason Magazine has an answer.
“Ron Paul would probably take about 17 to 18 percent of the national vote,” says Reason Polling Director Emily Ekins.”
17% is not an insignificant number. Ron Paul’s legions continue to grow. Only Paul appeals to independents and disaffected Democrats in ways the establishment candidates of both parties cannot. Gingrich has been at the top of the heap and gone back down to the bottom. Santorum spent most of this race at the bottom but now enjoys some success. Many are still uncomfortable with Romney. Paul’s support remains consistent, unflappable and significant–no matter how much the GOP establishment wishes this wasn’t the case.
Ron Paul represents a movement that cannot be stopped. Ron Paul represents a movement that will not be stopped. Those who ignore him do so at their own peril.

That's 17% in spite of the media blackouts alternating with the media bashing. I wonder if he ran 3rd party would they let him in the debates. Probably not, but we'd raise hell trying to get him in there. The worse the GOP treats him, the more I think he should run for the Libertarian nomination. I think it's time for the rise of the Libertarian party.

17% is up from last month...so he is still increasing support, despite everything we are up against. Makes me wonder how well we'd actually be doing if this were more of an honest fight. Or if this election were taking place back before the TV era.

IF we can get to a brokered
IF we can get to a brokered convention, this needs to be our weapon! We will run third party and garner over 10% if you national delegates go with someone other then Paul!

Really depends on how much attention he gets. If the media just focuses on the big two, and Ron Paul gets drowned out (not invited to debates, etc.) then he might not get more than 10%....

When the currency dies Ron Paul becomes a front-runner.
GOP and the evil machine behind it will not allow the good doctor to win/become nominated.

If we have a visible currency death Ron Paul should run.
Death of this fiat dollar could be something that might push the good doctor to continue his run...btw he is a great runner - he met his wife Carol during one sporting event.
