Daily Proverb

Updated November 1, 2012: Some of us have worked thru the book of Proverbs during the Month of October. I desire to continue in November on the topic of Thankfulness. I need to be content in all things and daily offerings on thankfulness will no doubt be a blessing to me and maybe others. The concept of thankfulness is liberating when negativity is cast aside. Please feel free to journey along and contribute as you are inspired.

I have been challenged to read 1 chapter in Proverbs each day. As I read Chapter 29, I found a verse that speaks profoundly of Ron Paul's character and a statement of why our country is in the situation it is in:

Verse 4: "The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it."

Of course we do not have a king, but the principle is the same. Those that cozy up with special interests ruin a country.

Thank you Ron Paul, for not entertaining lobbyists!

2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Your belief in a book is based soley on what the book tells you

to believe.

And your "fact" is based on only the "facts" your "holy" book presents.

Yes, we've been through this before, yet you still don't get that you are living in a fairy-tale of made-up rules.

How is it a rule

if I'm showing you it's not a rule? Women being silent is rubbish.

Recon, you have to read the entire Bible, understand the context, pray and reason, pray and reason, pray and reason.

God persuades you and writes the law upon the tables of your heart. If you draw nigh to God, He will draw nigh to you. You have to ask, seek, knock with IMPORTUNITY. God will answer. God will persuade you through the words in the Bible and also through a split vortex wherein He makes Himself real and believable. It just has to happen to you in order that you be persuaded. But the first action is reaching out to God because God will not force you into a relationship with Him.

Freedom is not: doing everything you want to.
Freedom is: not having to do what you don't want to do.

A Thought on the Current Meaning of Slavery

Slavery: The slaves are those who work so that people who WON'T work (not CAN'T work) can eat, watch cable & smoke.

Slavery: Borrwing money; being a slave to the lender until the debt is paid.

oh i see

it's like serfdom in the feudalistic system. god is great, unless you happen to be female or gay.

God is Great

ALL the time; and ALL the time God is Great! That is what is so great! God is love and so loved he sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sin. Good word, propitiation, and done for us by a Great God!

The person who gave this challenge to you

was wise to do so. And you were wise to accept. : )

you'd be better off

you'd be better off exercising each morning and clearing your head rather than scrambling your brains to find "the truth"

I would be better off

if folks like yourself could find better things to do with your time than harass other folk who are simply trying to encourage one another with a few words of wisdom. Why waste your time? We aren't changing our beliefs, and no one is trying to change yours. Live and let live, love your neighbor, be kind to strangers. Are these such difficult concepts to embrace? No one has done you any harm or disservice by sharing here. Be at peace, I certainly am, and my peace will continue regardless of your efforts. BTW, what would ever give you the impression that caring for ones body as well as the spirit are somehow mutually exclusive? What an odd notion.

Youre pushing the Bible and Im the one with the odd notions? LOL

Sure , Live and Let Live...just go somewhere else. This isn't "The Christian Daily Paul".

You have to understand that not everyone has had the same glorious experiences with your Bronze Age Religion and that some of us have done actual research and study of Christianity and know for a fact how bogus it is.

Have you done any research? Or is your "faith" enough?

So, everyone gets a seat at the Liberty table....

except Christians? You do know that Dr. Paul is a professed Christian? I've even heard him quote from the very Bible which you seem to have such an irrational hatred of. You seem obsessed, maybe some counseling would be in order.

No one is pushing the bible here. You are free to click or not click on any link which you desire, again, you may want to get some help with this obsession of yours. Full blown mental illness often begins with a seemingly innocuous obsession.

Furthermore, what's with all the wild assumptions about people you have never met? I'm well aware of the history of world religions, not just the judeo-christian ones. I'm also personally not a great fan of any religion, with maybe the exception of Buddhism. Christianity may in fact be my least favorite religion of all, if for no other reason than that it has strayed so far from what I believe Christ was actually trying to tell us. He did exist you know? There's quite a lot of evidence of this, and roughly a billion people think His life was a rather significant one.

We are sharing passages from an ancient collection of books with the intent of encouraging one another as we struggle together to secure Liberty for everyone, including you, that is all.

Grow up, lose the angst, be a better neighbor, and for Pete's sake, quit making so many assumptions, it makes you look small.

haha sure buddy

for the record, I don't see other groups using the DP for proselytizing.

-Everyone's welcome but, if you don't know already, there's an "off topic" section for these types of threads.

How do you feel about Sushi?

On my list of favorite things, sushi is right down there with annual trips to the dentist and war. In the coastal town where I reside there's a plethora of sushi bars, each with it's own trendy neon sign inviting me in for a chunk or two of raw fish. Funny thing is, not once have I ever experienced even the slightest compulsion to charge into one of these establishments with the intent of berating their customers, much less the chef.

Perception and education

Not to defend either side here but feel it is important that you understand your uneducated perception about Sushi. What has happened is you have fell into the premise and power of suggestion associated with a rumor about Sushi. Sushi is not raw fish, It is simply a style of food preperation of many different kinds of cooked ingredients, It can be compared to a sandwich with many different options loaded into it. It happens there is only one choice out of many to fill a Sushi roll that is actually raw fish called Sashimi. In reallity there are many other options that are not raw. The point I am trying to make is one must not fall into the trap of lumping one item as the definition for a whole concept based on a rumor you have heard from others that are uneducated to the actual process. The Sushi industry has suffered greatly because of this rumor and the example can be applied to many everyday situations and ideas. Just something to ponder and you really should open your mind and take another look at Sushi, just order it with something other than Sashimi. Don't fall for a misconception.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

and I thought I had too much time on my hands : )

Leave it to a Daily Pauler to put the "anal" in analogous, and to make incorrect assumtions based upon a perfectly appropriate use of a generality. If jumping to conclusions were an olympic event, we would surely have some medalists here at the Daily Paul. Enjoy your sashimi, nigiri, maki, temaki and whatever other variety that pleases your palate. Japanese fare of any kind has never been my favorite, though after wasting so much time here in what was potentially a positive and uplifting thread, a nice sake might actuaslly be in order.

I was simply...

I was simply suggesting that before you use an analogy you may want to make sure the example topic is not a rumor based on misconception.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Analogous

/əˈnaləgəs/

Adjective:

1.A comparison between two things, typically on the basis of their structure and for the purpose of explanation or clarification.
2.A correspondence or partial similarity.

The analogy was between a sushi bar and an internet forum, the point of the analogy was to highlight the voluntary nature of associations and was more than appropriate. Referencing raw fish in relation to a sushi bar was descriptive and secondary to the central analogy, and no less appropriate. Do not sushi bars serve raw fish (sashimi)? Is not sashimi central fare at a typical Sushi bar? Yes they do and yes it is.

In keeping with the proverbial theme of this post, these words of Christ come to mind, "woe unto you... you blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel."

Have a nice day.

Since you insist

Please read between the lines and see the comparison I was trying to make about Sushi bars and Web forums you displayed. If I have to explain it you will never understand anyways.

The OP here...

The OP for this thread "Gets it". Please read the exchange above. I am proud to have met this person named "Bear" and I am the one that is always in trouble with the Christians for being outspoken.

And when you get to Ecclesiastes...

Ecclesiastes 9:15

King James Version (KJV)

14There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:

15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.

... and in the gospels... the common people heard him gladly... no man spoke like this...

Plano TX

and this...

The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:13,14 : )

Also in Proverbs 29:22

"An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression:
Adam, are you listening?

" In Thee O Lord do I put my trust " ~ Psalm 31:1~

...and love covereth a multitude of sins

we could do this all day. in the end, we must choose to be gracious and merciful, as God is gracious and merciful. and when we fail, we can repent and pick ourselves up and move forward, preferably growing and learning along the way. and hopefully, as we near our journey's end, we will find that we have not hindered others who were on the path beside us. don't be any harder on Adam than you are willing to be on yourself, just a thought. : )
