Daily Proverb

Updated November 1, 2012: Some of us have worked thru the book of Proverbs during the Month of October. I desire to continue in November on the topic of Thankfulness. I need to be content in all things and daily offerings on thankfulness will no doubt be a blessing to me and maybe others. The concept of thankfulness is liberating when negativity is cast aside. Please feel free to journey along and contribute as you are inspired.
I have been challenged to read 1 chapter in Proverbs each day. As I read Chapter 29, I found a verse that speaks profoundly of Ron Paul's character and a statement of why our country is in the situation it is in:

Verse 4: "The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it."

Of course we do not have a king, but the principle is the same. Those that cozy up with special interests ruin a country.

Thank you Ron Paul, for not entertaining lobbyists!
Najam has asked me to keep this post alive so I am attempting to do that. Join in if you like.
2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Re Syria, thanks for the video clip, fonta.

That's exactly what we need more of ~ hearing the testimonies of those who are personally affected by what is going on in the Middle East. Re the issue of the Iraqi children, I keep hearing those words of Madeline Albright, "Yes, we think it's worth it." Well, a growing number of Americans don't.

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.
~ John Muir

Made me think of this

Made me think of this passage:

John 4:4 And he [Jesus} must needs go through Samaria.

Thank you for the video clip. May Jesus go thru Samaria again with healing hands...that would be us...those who know Jesus...until He returns as Eternal Prince of Peace to Reign Forever More.

On Chuck Baldwin: Seems he was “good enough” for Ron Paul to nominate in 2008…that speaks volumes to me. What is good enough? His understanding and application of Liberty was good enough, unlike any candidates running in 2012.

Unfortunately, the Name of Christ attached to some who call themselves Christians has been drug thru the dirt and many now consider those who Name the Name of Christ as hypocrites. Maybe that has been done on purpose? We wrestle not against flesh and blood. Wasn't President Clinton "a Baptist?"

May God have mercy upon us as the "Chickens come home to Roost."

And One Thing That Impresses Me

...about Chuck Baldwin is that while in his private life he is a preacher first and then a patriot, in his public life as a Patriot he is never offensive or "pushing" his religion. I wish his church was near me.

Also, his son is a constitutional lawyer and my impression is that Chuck has far more understanding of government, economics, constitutional law and the reasons for not bringing misery on other nations for wealth, power and control than most in politics. Certainly much more than Biden.

I can see a Chuck Baldwin being able to sit down with foreign leaders of all religions and being trusted and respected. I can certainly see him sitting down with Ahmadinajad who to me has said some very insightful and wise things although he was ridiculed and rebuked.

We are faced with a thrust toward global power and control by a cabal of consciously or unconsciously evil people. I pray for a return to civility, reason and love from a global cabal for good.
Just because such an attitude may be called naive, bleeding heart or impossible does not make it so. The power of good is much stronger than the power of evil. If not in the US, people all over the world are turning to God while children in this country cannot even utter "One nation, under God" as I did in elementary school.

Surely if more people listened to those from other countries who are being brutalized and thought of the little children even once they would see that this is not right. I see the man from Syria in that video as speaking in desperation from his heart and soul...begging to be heard. His story, to me, is that of the Christians being thrown to the lions while the crowds cheered. It is unthinkable and yet it is what is happening behind the scenes. "If you do it unto the least of these, you do it unto me."

Thankfulness: Nov 8 - Call Upon His Name

1 Chronicles 16:8 KJV
Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people

Radiating ~

+1. bear, one small verse, so rich, much teachings, wow. Your choice indicates something I cannot define, or you were led to it. There is obvious growth, of (?) ~ , is radiating, a glow that comes with joy.
3 teachings, like commands = We must be thankful, call upon The Name*,
make known to others ~, (example John 17:12 & 26).
= The essence in few words. thanks for the Reminder.

At Your Name

Yes, Najam, you have raised my consciences of The Name. Something that perhaps I have known, but not focused upon. And because of that, the title of today’s post is deliberately stating “The Name.” I appreciate your help in that area. I am not sure I understand fully all that you do though.

I read your post earlier, but had some things I had to get done. As I took a walk around the block, I thought again of your comment and this verse of Scripture came to mind as I had already quoted it yesterday and it was fresh in my thoughts:

Ephesians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father

Authentic Name.

+1, thank you for the link, = praising Name, with lyrics.

Jruss, who has visited your thread/page 3-4 times, has taken the initiatives a few times on DP = to bring attention to the subject/issue of name-s. A couple of times I had exchanges with him.

and = http://www.dailypaul.com/160560#comment-1695541

there may be 2 more = if I dig deeper into my account. We learned that proper-nouns (names) are transliterated, not translated, e.g. "Adam".

Hi Najam,

I left a comment over on the first link you gave me http://www.dailypaul.com/255991/yhusha#comment-2825219. You can see what you think.

As far as Adam, these are my thoughts:

per http://www.biblestudytools.com/lexicons/hebrew/kjv/chavvah.html
the Definition of Eve = "life" or "living"

taken from this verse:
3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Adam gave his wife a name that represented who she was.

One might also note Genesis 3:9 where God called Adam:
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

I have a cat name Kitty. A Kitty is a Cat. Just like a man named Adam is an Adam or a man.

Names used to have significance...meaning...now we just toss them on our kids without considering what the meaning is. The old testament has lots of examples of names given for reason and purpose.

Or I could name my child mercy, or grace, or faith. That would be a name which would also have meaning.

I have boys, neither of their names bringing any meaning to anyone's mind when their name is said. However in our house there are plaques.

One for each of us under our family picture.
My husband Jeff = God’s Peace. When I say Jeff, I do know even think of what his name means. However at some point in time I suppose maybe the name or word Jeff meant God’s peace.

I may not at all be following the line of thinking that I am supposed to understand and may have gone in a completely different direction.

"Adam" as an easy Example.

+1, thank you for your attention & response. I am glad & thankful.
You are a regular reader of scripture, you have a learned partner at home, = who is like a teacher to others, and you share your knowledge with DPers. This is your page /thread, and faithful folks visit it & appreciate your daily contributions, some of them add to it..

Once you focus = the zoom effect will magnify this matter, it will grow, become clearer. You will also notice the related issues, all in time = it canNot be speeded, it may be a gradual increase, depending on the length of time one stays consciously attuned.

have visited/read the other thread, will revisit later.

Philippians 2:9-11

This gal really blesses me and all her lyrics in all her songs are KJV verses, nothing else!

You are going to love this song!

" In Thee O Lord do I put my trust " ~ Psalm 31:1~

Thank you again Holbrook!

I appreciate the Patti Vaillant lead! I have been wanting some Scripture songs. The musical arrangement is pretty too.

"Do not plot harm

against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you." 3:29

I Like That Proverb!

It makes me think along these lines:

Romans 12:18 KJV
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

What not to do: Harm

What to do: Live Peaceably

How? Love

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Why can it be so hard to love sometimes? It seems so simple. For me, it is when I put myself above God and above my neighbor. A daily cross to take up is putting myself where I belong, which I often forget to do.

Sometimes how God feels about

Sometimes how God feels about something or Christians isn't how it is sometimes presented.

John 11:34 Jesus wept.

Mark 3:5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Luke 18 1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Hi MaxK,

I just wanted to let you know that I think of you often and remember you in prayer. I hope you have had a good week in Christ, bear :)

The Last Sentence Intrigues Me

...Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:6b)
Lord, help me to have faith like that widow woman and continue to seek and to ask from your hand those things for which I am needy

"He will avenge ..."

+1. thank you for the reminder, with the context.
In the last lines is the meaning of the parable, =
1) a warning, that He will avenge them speedily.
2) a question, about faith on earth, ~ when ~

The word avenge in this instance could mean judgment or punishment.

Read, Matthew 12:36-37 (KJV) 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Judgment Day is awaited, but the punishment came quicker, when the temple in JeruSalem was demolished, completely, as foretold. Not one stone was left standing. The foolish (or demon?) ones think the "Wailing" wall belongs to the temple. No, it belongs to the roman fort.

can this be moved Off Topic?

can this be moved Off Topic?

Hi, Thank you for stopping in.

I was not trying to be offensive to you. When I first started reading the Daily Paul I started this Topic. I selected the Liberty Forum because of these words in my OP:

"I have been challenged to read 1 chapter in Proverbs each day.

Thank you Ron Paul, for not entertaining lobbyists!"
From time to time people have continued to stop by and we have just kept the the original topic from the Wisdom of Scripture like the one that exemplified Dr. Paul going.

I did though decide since it is November and the traditional time to be thankful to focus on thankfulness.

Thankfulness can be a very Liberating thing as one lets go of negativity and refocuses on the positive. Perhaps Liberty is still the message?

This has been here

for eight months...if it took you that long to even notice it, I think it's safe to assume it's just fine right where it is! A lot of people here really seem to enjoy it and are inspired by it, me included! If it bothers you, the solution is simple, don't read it. :)

Proverbs &

+1. Wisdom, of Scriptures. Well said = simple.

God bless you and Thank you!

Blessings to you, you are

Blessings to you, you are welcome and Thanks be to God. Have a wonderful day.

Many Thanks for Reminders

+1. your diligence is a blessing = to all who follow.

Thank you Najam for your idea

Thank you Najam for your idea and encouragement!

Hebrews 10:24 KJV
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to goodworks:

Thankfulness: Nov 6 - Always, for All Things

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Audio of Ephesians 5: http://www.biblestudytools.com/kjv/ephesians/5-audio.html

Thankfulness: Nov 5 - With Praise

Psalm 100:4 KJV
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Audio Psalm 100: http://www.biblestudytools.com/kjv/psalms/100-audio.html

Psalm 100 is only 5 verses. I think I will work on memorizing it:

1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

These are all wonderful verses

I have another, and this particular verse is dear to me and near to me every day, and it goes with me everywhere!

I won't devulge more than that! :>)

"Giving thanks always, for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" ~ Ephesians 5:20 ~

Keep it going sister!

" In Thee O Lord do I put my trust " ~ Psalm 31:1~

Do you know Thomas Holbrook?

I just noticed the Liberarian Candidate running in my Congressional District is named Thomas Holbrook. He was born in Arizona but now lives in Warrensburg Mo. He was born in 1983...far to young to be a congressman LOL :) You know when you approach that "hill" even the Drs. look too young to be doctors. Anyways, his name is spelled the same so I thought I would ask. I am looking at him or the Constiution Party Candidate.

PS Thank you for tomorrows Scripture verse from Eph 5 :)

Good Morning Sister Bear

Yes, I understand fully, the closer you approach that "hill" everyone looks younger, not just the doctors! LOL
I do not know Mr. Holbrook, but I sure hope he knows Jesus!

The portion of Scripture that touched my heart this day is :
1 John 3:1,2

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is."

How truly blessed are we!
Praise the Lord!
