Daily Proverb

Updated November 1, 2012: Some of us have worked thru the book of Proverbs during the Month of October. I desire to continue in November on the topic of Thankfulness. I need to be content in all things and daily offerings on thankfulness will no doubt be a blessing to me and maybe others. The concept of thankfulness is liberating when negativity is cast aside. Please feel free to journey along and contribute as you are inspired.

I have been challenged to read 1 chapter in Proverbs each day. As I read Chapter 29, I found a verse that speaks profoundly of Ron Paul's character and a statement of why our country is in the situation it is in:

Verse 4: "The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it."

Of course we do not have a king, but the principle is the same. Those that cozy up with special interests ruin a country.

Thank you Ron Paul, for not entertaining lobbyists!

2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Yes, it is,

but look at verse 18!

18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

What a gracious and merciful God we have!

There is a reason that the

There is a reason that the ethnic races can trace their history back two thousand yaers before the 'white' man (look at the Chinese). Your thoughts on this would be?

I have no concerns in that area

Colossians 3:11 KJV
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

1 Timothy 1:4 KJV
Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

Revelation 5:9 KJV
And they sung a new song, saying , Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain , and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Thankfulness = great subject.

add "k" in the title above, on top of page. I came down here to let the correction

ThanK you Najam,

I was worried about the single "l" being correct but didn't even notice I had dropped the K.

I am thanKful for you! Have a nice and thanKful day.

= Speak-up for ~

+1, many thanks, this teaching is much needed these days. I did not get the end bit at first, then I looked at another version and it became clear, = be of help with your words for the needy & helpless.

When we continue reading verse 10+ we find the "truly virtuous woman".

Proverbs has only 31 chapters, & today is the 31st Oct., you led the faithful flock on DP diligently ~thru = with words of wisdom. HE will reward you with more Light & steadiness.

Proverbs 31...

I fall short in so many ways...and yet I know my God is not thru with me yet. He will perfect me even as I struggle taking care of a family.

Najum, I had to go back to even see if I started on Oct 1! I have such a poor memory. I was happy to see that was when we started this journey through Proverbs and that we had successfully completed it. Thank you for encouraging me in the work of this month. You were the catalyst that started the project.

I desire to continue in November on the topic of Thankfulness. I need to be content in all things and daily offerings on thankfulness will no doubt be a blessing to me and maybe other.

I was also thinking that in December it might be nice to begin with prophecies concerning the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Perhaps that would be a blessing to the non-believers among our Friends at the DP. Perhaps there are some that Christ is calling.

Not a proverb, but guess I'm

Not a proverb, but guess I'm going to look at Psalm 37 today, which is about blessed are the meek.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Psalm 37 Full of Wonderful Promises!

What a blessing to read this morning. Thank you for reminding me of God's wonderful promises. This Psalm is very applicable to this day in which we find ourselves and it is a comfort to me. Thank you for sharing it.

"The evil deeds of a wicked man

ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast." 5:22

Yes, Did you read/listen to

Yes, Did you read/listen to Psalm 37 given by MaxK? It is a contrast of the wicked and the righteous. Full of hope and promise. I have to admit there are times I am overwhelmed by the wickedness. I must remember my Strong Tower and go there and read Psalm 37...better yet it would be good to memorize the whole passage and stay in my Strong Tower!

egapele's picture

Saw this on a sign outside a Church the other day:

"The tongue weighs but a few ounces, yet few can hold it."

Ha - the truth!

It is a Life's Time Struggle for Me

James 3:8 KJV
But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

especially when one considers

James 1:26 KJV
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

egapele's picture

You've reminded me it's time to break out my clothespin again.

I put it on the windowsill above my kitchen sink from time to time.

Not only does it remind me to hold my tongue, but it also helps to remind me of the piercing pain my tongue can cause to others' hearts if I don't control it.

Thanks so much. :)

What a Great Reminder!

Thank you for sharing it!

10/31 Tomorrow

Although this is not from Proverbs, it is one of my favorite verses and reminder as to how we are to daily walk.

1 Corinthians 10:31

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

" In Thee O Lord do I put my trust " ~ Psalm 31:1~

Something to meditate upon

and something to act on!

Proverbs 23:23

Buy the truth and do not sell it –
Wisdom and discipline and
understanding.

.

Hear, O Israel: YHUH our God YHUH one. And thou shalt love YHUH thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Revelation 3:18 KJV

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see

Buy The Truth,

+1, thanks, also for the reminder on "discipline".
in the institutions of learning discipline is necessary.

In the Proverbs you posted below same is emphasized (in the last line), at 10/23/2012 - 20:35.

Discipline = Asking in faith?

James 1:5 KJV

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Believing, = Faith.

Matthew 21:22 (KJV) 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

JeruSalem Bible = "22 And if you have Faith, everything you ask for in prayer, you will receive."

Faith

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Confirms,

+1, Word strengthens faith, raises hopes, & thankfulness, = thanks.

By Hearing the Word of God

Romans 10:17 KJV

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Proverbs: Oct 30 - Teeth as Swords

Proverbs 30:14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
