1 in 88 Kids Has Autism

One in 88 children in the United States has autism, according to the most recent estimates released today in a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The new estimates, based on data from 2008, show a 23 percent increase in autism diagnoses since the last report. In 2002, 1 in 150 kids were estimated to have autism and in 2006 the prevalence increased to 1 in 110.

The largest increases were seen among Hispanic and black children, the report says.

The statistics

should be screaming on every newspaper and every TV channel and on every radio show. The fact that they are NOT screams!

IMO

Most issues with anything wrong with our bodies usually just means.
Follow what you eat and drink.

Young girls going through puberty at age 9 and with c-d sized breasts?
Ya probably some growth junk in our food or drink ( IE Cow milk? Possible)

Autism rates, look for factors that are obvious. Like, mercury reasoning is a good start.

Maybe its the crappy pesticides we got all over, if its bad for bugs and animals, its probably bad for us.

And it was only 1987

that it was only approx. 1 in every 5,000 children. I can't remember for the life of me where the article was that I was just reading a few days ago about this, but It certainly appears as though there is a lot of documented studies that seem to point toward too much mercury in vaccinations. Even if a vaccination says it has no mercury in it, it might still contain Thimerosal, which is a mercury based preservative. I'm sure there are many other things that could cause autism. But the statistics are absolutely mind boggling....1987, 1 in 5,000 children....2012, 1 in 88...Same time frame that there was ALOT going on in the medical field dealing with vaccines...If you follow the recommended vaccination by the CDC (could of been someone else) from birth to death, you are suppose to have yourself and your children injected around 140 times. 140 injections of unknown toxins in a lifetime. No thanks.

It is all BS

I have a medical degree and I smell another meme being fabricated by the medical-industrial complex (read big pharma and mental "health" professionals). Some kid figets in class therefore he has ADD and we need to load him up on adderal or ritalin rather than let him work off his energy being cooped up in his prison like school room with recess? Now, you can concentrate but you tap your foot or pencil and you have "autism spectrum disorder" HELLO? Thiomersol has been in vaccines forever but now it causes autism?? Nobody wants to look at the deluge of herbicides and newer generation pesticides (seen a newt, a frog, quail, or pheasant lately?).
Unfortunately, we have the idiots screaming about vaccines from both sides of the political spectrum and few realize that they are in large part responsible for our long lives, the dramatic decreases in infant mortality, and decrease in morbidity in our illnesses. Vaccinate or not your choice, but how about food and our environment not contaminated by the agriculture-industrial complex.

I agree with most of

I Agree with most of what is said.
Pesticides growth hormones, Stuff we eat and drink.

I have add, or did when I was young.( So they say)
To me ADD is bullshit and always has been, Prescribe Ritalin to a kid cause he doesn't want to learn in school?
School bored me to tears.
I am middle class, good family, same wife, very well educated, college ed. 3 Trades. ex military. Savy with my money, healthy, eats correctly, avoids crap food, doesnt eat out often etc.

I just get bored easily, is that what ADD means. Farging boredom?

Well, I guess I am one of those idiots...

Did it ever occur to you who supports your medical school, your continuing edu credits, how much income you generate from vaccines? If you don't step out of the box and take an honest look at your own profession, then you will never find truth. I am a cancer survivor thanks to NO chemo and NO radiation. I would never look back on that decision. I've lost 6 friends who did what 3 docs told me I must do. The other 6, well we were almost identical in our diagnosis, they went one way, I chose the other. I pray that the people wake up to the opportunities of Natural medicine and wellness. I pray that the medical community will take serious that what they do is the direct opposite of the oath they take. There should be an "OATH KEEPERS" FOR DOCTORS. First Do No Harm...

I suggest you start with someone, who like you set out to prove vaccines were safe and in the process proved herself wrong. Now that's an honest look. http://drtenpenny.com/default.aspx

PS, my comments do not apply to "crisis medicine" such as treatment after a car accident or fall or stroke or heart attack. But once through the crisis...well look to wellness advice and how to fix yourself after that... www.hacres.com Live and be well.

And finally, I grew up the daughter of a medical doctor so I didn't come to this position easily.

Well I wouldn't want you for a doc.

The brainwashed talks about brainwashing. LOL

While I think vaccines certainly are a big part of the problem

There was an excellent article in Discovery a few years ago that correlated environmental toxins perfectly with Autism with a grid map evaluation. It was amazing research and than it just never seemed to be discussed, which I thought was REALLY odd! We need Erin Brockavich! Anyway, with the present and increasing adult population with autism, farms are a perfect match for many of these individuals. Group homes are one step up from institutions, Camphill is an organization that has originated many of these farms for special needs individuals. We need small farms for communities for special needs. It is such a perfect environment for so many of them. Rather than sitting around watching the tv, eating the standard american diet and getting drugged, think about farms that allow these guys to have lives of joy and purpose!

Hyper-literal, monomaniacal...

...interpersonally inept.

I've called myself "socially retarded" for years. The ex-wives seem to agree on Asperger's (with pickles and onions, please), and on very little else. My best bud says I DON'T have Asperger's because I exhibit too rich a sense of irony and too ready a wit (usually a play on the hyper-literal aspects of my "affliction"), but that I am just an asshole. But what's in a name? It doesn't seem to make much difference, as I still don't play well with (most) others, don't apply or interview well, and seem to be obsessively honest.

As for the statistical correlation between autism and thimerosol poisoning, it seems too strong to dismiss.

This is a very hard topic for

This is a very hard topic for me. I'm a 'higher function' Autistic(Asperger's Syndrome, I know some don't call it a 'real' autistic disorder because it doesn't 'seem' debilitating).

It's very hard to discuss it because of public view of all autism and those who disbelieve all psychological disorders(I have been called 'a hypochondriac' just looking for an excuse to 'dope up').

But there are parts that are very clear. In my youth I had trouble fulfilling basic societal 'compliance' like education(it's a learning disability for the most part). I have a very different learning style than the average person, and public schooling wasn't designed for that(after much trouble, and even threats to sue me after shouting at a teacher who didn't care that I was having trouble, I homeschooled the rest of my education). It's quite ironic really, I actually got A's in my grades until high school, when teacher's started to be less forgiving and not accommodating me at all

I think it's because of my Asperger's, and my disposition in dealing with it, that helped me find and understand a lot of the small government positions of Paul. I was at the bad side of the deal with Public education, healthcare(cross state psychiatrists were my best option, yet regulations made it near impossible), and more. My household was somewhat 'neo-conservative', and I'd have been the same if it wasn't for that...

Children exposed in utero to anti-depressants linked to autism.

Do antidepressants during pregnancy cause autism?
By Stacey Singer

As scientists strive to find what's behind a spike in autism, especially in boys, a new study has raised the possibility that antidepressants taken by their mother may be one of the culprits, a finding that has set off fear and concern among women and their doctors.

Rodents exposed to the antidepressant Celexa displayed autism-like changes in both the structure of their brains and the behavior of their pups, especially the males, according to the study published last month in the Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences. Celexa is a commonly prescribed antidepressant in a class that includes Lexapro, Zoloft and Prozac.

Another study has found that autistic children were twice as likely as other children to have been exposed to antidepressants before birth. First-trimester exposure created nearly four times the risk, according to the report published in July in the journal Archives of General Psychiatry.

Anything that affects the glutamate signaling in neurons

can promote the development of autism.

Prozac does:

Sorry, but I don't believe these figures...

More and more kids are being labeled as autistic - which is not the same thing as actually having it (if it even exists). Like the "disorder" of ADD and ADHD. A convenient label to drug more and more kids, and enrich the shrinks and the drug companies. The Columbine killers, Harris and Klebold, were on drugs (Luvox) when they committed their horrible acts. Are the drugs to blame? Yes.

Normal childhood behavior is too often labeled as a disease or disorder. It is a travesty; we are losing our future generations.

I have a degree in Psych and was always suspicious of labeling people with a "disease" and then seeking to "treat" them. Can you see schizophrenia on an X-ray? Or on a blood test? Read the great Thomas Szasz for more enlightenment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Szasz

If you talk to God, you are praying. If God talks to you, you have schizophrenia.
Thomas Szasz

Well, you are out of date, by over 10 years.

All the major neurological disorders have disruptions in the glutamate signaling process as a common denominator.

Autism, Parkinson, Alzheimer, Schizophrenia.

Autism is no longer a disease evaluated by men but a rigid physiological description of abnormal brain activity. Diagnoses is done with various brain scans. Andrew Newberg MD is doing some of this research.

Those are symptoms - not causes - diabetes has symptoms

too, but it is a disease that can be verified by tests. all the other conditions you mention have symptoms, but no verifiable causes. That's the reality.

Yawn, Clearly you are not up to date at all.

Brains scans and chemical analysis has made autism as verifiable as diabetes.

case closed?

Ah, but who decides what is normal and what is diagnostic of this "disease". Same jerks giving all the Rx and crappy diets for Type II diabetes? Question the "White Tower" experts. I have all my life and it has served me well.

“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.” – Thomas Jefferson

"White Tower" This phrase

"White Tower"

This phrase popped up in my mind. Autism is not being diagnosed with brain scans in the vast majority of cases. As someone who has worked with between 150-175 students "diagnosed" with autism over the past 4 years, there have been 5, maybe 6 students where a neurologist assessed the child. You can pretty well guess the socio-economic status of the parents of those 5-6...affluent to say the least. The vast majority of the diagnoses that I have seen have come from pediatricians, private psychologists, and a few psychiatrists. School psychologists do not diagnose Autism, they can only conclude "autistic-like." Most of the kids I have worked with didn't have a medical diagnosis, but qualified for Special Education as exhibiting autistic like characteristics.

If you look at the increase

If you look at the increase in vaccinations over the period of the last 30 years, you will see a remarkable correlation in the increase of autism.

"The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that." — Alan Greenspan

Yep...

although correlation does not equal causation, it's more than mere coincidence when you look at all the other relevant data concerning vaccinations and Autism.

I am by NO means an expert on either subject, nor will I ever claim to be, but it seems to me that it's pretty obvious when one looks at the topic with a critical eye. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it'd take an awful lot of compelling evidence to make me re-think my position.
