One in 88 children in the United States has autism, according to the most recent estimates released today in a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The new estimates, based on data from 2008, show a 23 percent increase in autism diagnoses since the last report. In 2002, 1 in 150 kids were estimated to have autism and in 2006 the prevalence increased to 1 in 110.

The largest increases were seen among Hispanic and black children, the report says.

If you want research, try this

"Just a Little Prick", by Hilary Butler, and
"From one Prick to another", also by Hilary Butler.

I waded through these two, and though I have done an enormous amount of research, these were the definitive volumes for vaccine research.

And if you can't digest this information, then you're dreaming, and should go back to CNN or FOX.

Since you have done such an enormous amount of research could you please direct me to any peer reviewed literature you have published?

We honestly don't know...

the answer to the large increase in autism and adhd in children. People can only speculate at what new ingredient has been added to the childhood formula that could be affecting our children.
Maybe not proven, but vaccinations are a strong possibility and should be considered since it is a new addition to most children's lives. Most children have received 30-40 vaccinations by the time their little bodies are only 5 years old.
Environmental/food additives could be a culprit - but those affect everyone - not just the children.
However, you also have a valid point about technology. Another ingredient that our children have been subjected to is "technology"...and at an early age. Some kids (at age 1 and 2) are sit in front of a TV screen for "entertainment". I suppose parents think all the sounds and colors will entertain them. Instead, it is probably overstimulating their brains and bodies. Technology is used for "babysitting".
I tend to speculate that technology leads more to adhd but the autistic tendencies are probably coming from some additives from the child's environment.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Have you looked into Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy's

experiences with her child. She used a variety of methods, including heavy metal chelation to restore her child's normal brain functioning. But of course the establishment then claims that the child wasn't autistic in the first place.

You've got to be kidding! Plead on...

you need to do your research!

If people like you, LyingDutchman, and Evil Warlord want to go ahead and believe the medical/pharma complex and think vaccines are so great, then by all means vaccinate yourselves to death.

The main point is that the government shouldn't force unproven vaccines full of poisons (preservatives, etc.) on people.

I will never again let any doctor (or government) inject these poisons into any of my children! After I researched the topic, it was really a no brainer. Big pharma and doctors are the only ones profiting. Everyone else is sicker (autism, ADD, ADHD, learning disabilities) and even dying. Wake up!

Government mandates I agree

Government mandates I agree are bad. But do you know how useful even the much maligned HPV vaccine is for preventing cervical cancer?

Or is cancer a government conspiracy too?

It is difficult to exactly determine what is right and wrong. Imagine if small pox had not been eradicated. If some people such as yourself declared

"We don't want it. It is poison. It is a conspiracy."

Then the rest of us would be at risk due to your ignorance. Then is a mandate justified? Are countries justified in requiring vaccinations for a visa?

These are complicated questions. Don't sully the debate by offering simple solutions to score points.

Oh man, I don't even know

Oh man, I don't even know where to begin on your blissful thinking about HPV and cancer. There are over 90 strains of HPV and they do not know which strains actually are linked to cancer. The HPV vaccines only go after 3-4 strains of HPV (if it is even effective in doing that). So I think it should be quite obvious that even if it is effective for those strains it is far from any guarantee of protecting against the HPV strains that cause cancer. There is no longitudinal studies that show its effectiveness or safety yet we have already seen some very instructive examples of negative effects like death, paralysis, and disabilities related to the vaccinations.

Your statements and questions show your total lack of ignorance

about the subject.

Take the time to do the research!

The HPV vaccine has killed and seriously injured people. Have you taken the time to research this? And really, use your BRAIN - a vaccine for CANCER? That is just STUPID! So, you want to inject yourself with a little cancer?

Why would YOU be at risk because I CHOOSE not to inject our bloodstreams with all the vaccine crap?

If you vaccinate yourself and believe that it protects you, then why in the world would anyone who didn't get a vaccine be a risk to you if you are supposedly protected? Use logic.

No a mandate is certainly NEVER justified with vaccines! Period!

Again, I know it takes work, but do your research! Don't just try to regurgitate propaganda!

Vaccines can prevent many

Vaccines can prevent many viral infections. Many cancers are caused by viruses. For one in the news recently look at Stiliyan Petrov, captain of Aston Villa. Acute Leukemia.

My family has two doctors, one of whom works in a govt. hospital. Cervical cancer is caused by the HPV virus. A well-known fact.

A lot of people dying man. She suggests to all teenage girls to get that injection. For the poor people it is covered under an insurance scheme.

I am sad because by the time I post this you, after having made various blatantly ignorant statements, will have got 5 likes.

Democracy can be a bitch sometimes. I would debate but then you will simply call me a troll. I have been for liberty ever since I first listened to Ron Paul. But some days I really wonder if he puts too much faith in people. I have been guilty of doing that myself.

Therein lies your problem...doctors have been brainwashed

and one of the doctors of your family works for the government. Need I say more? Come on!

The medical complex is controlled by Rockefeller interests. Research that, please! Here's a good start for you:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnaBG177VIw

Vaccines don't prevent anything. Inject some mercury into your veins and see what happens to you. Then try some formaldehyde. Next try some aluminum. Get it?

I don't know if you are a troll. What I DO KNOW is that you are terribly ignorant and have been brainwashed. Jump out of the box and start thinking for yourself. Start by researching. The Internet is a powerful tool.

If you are for liberty and for Ron Paul, you need to be liberty minded. Liberty-minded isn't wanting vaccines FORCED into a newborn's, child's, or adult's bloodstream! Liberty means researching and making an INFORMED DECISION! That is called personal liberty! And that is what Ron Paul is all about!

People spend their lifetime

People spend their lifetime studying medicine and you think you know better because you have seen a couple of videos?

Do you think any patient in the world would take your word over a doctor's. If you or a loved one (God forbid) fell victim to a serious illness would you go to a doctor or search the internet.

What is your profession if you don't mind me asking? Would you trust the word of a rank amateur who had seen a couple of videos with your job?

I have debated for several years. The one thing I got at the end was not information. I couldn't. because one day or 5 days or a month isn't enough to know something about a topic.

What I learned was that it is easy to make a claim and find others to back it up. I also learned that in most cases it is better to defer to the experts.

Rhetoric does not bring conclusions. Only scientific studies over several years do. And those too are subject to change. You and I can argue till the sun goes down, it will only be a waste of time. Let's save it.

Troll is as troll does...

Yeah, we need some kind of magic Shillelagh to ward off these persistent trolls.

Common Sense...

that is something you lack!

If you want to believe doctors, who are in the business of MAKING MONEY, and blindly do what they say by all means do it. They study for how many years? And they prescribe chemo and radiation for cancer? Only common sense will tell you that doing that is STUPID! It is only the uninformed (willingly or not) who would believe that! I don't give a crap if a doctor went to "school" for 50 years! Think about it, man!

The same goes for vaccines, surgery, medications. People have been duped. They have been led down a dangerous path full of chemical exposure and natural healing and remedies are ignored, regulated, or even made illegal.

It doesn't matter what my "job" is! It matters that I am willing to use my brain, which is something that a fascist government doesn't want people to do!

Rhetoric doesn't bring conclusions; however, for those willing to expand their thinking it brings new ideas!

You're right - it is a total waste of my time to discuss/debate with you any longer. It is only profitable if both people are free thinkers.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." (Dr. Seuss)

Radiation is used as a last

Radiation is used as a last resort.

Natural healing?Homeopathy? Dis-proven several times including as part of a skeptics documentary.

Crystals?

A good diet is something all doctors recommend but not everyone has the will-power and/or resources to maintain.

In your world:

All/most doctors are evil.

No viruses cause cancer.

Vaccines cause autism.

The sad part is that I'm not exaggerating. Best of luck using common sense to seek truth. Its has proven to be an unreliable tool.

Told us that the world was flat. That the sun went around the earth. Science is a far more potent tool.

What common sense does tell me however is that however great your willingness to "use your brain", you are not from the field of science, nor any other professional field. With such an attitude you would be a laughing stock.

Again, your questions and comments prove your ignorance!

Radiation (Mammograms)are used as a PREVENTIVE measure and yet, do you think most people realize that they are being irradiated? So, radiation is not used as a "last resort". My own mother died from the radiation more than from the cancer.

Natural healing also involves NATURAL medicines. Not synthetic chemicals made in a laboratory. God made herbs for healing.

Yes, a good diet is paramount; however, you err on that doctors recommend it. In all my years of going to "doctors" not one of them concentrated on diet/nutrition (unless they were alternative medicine). They would rather medicate you. They treat the symptoms and not the cause. You are what you eat is true.

People not having the will power is only half true. They are also not encouraged or educated in proper nutrition. Just eating fresh fruit and vegetables goes a long way as opposed to highly processed "easy" boxed food (which is more chemicals).

In my "world": most "doctors" are brainwashed pill pushers, not healers. Vaccines cause all kinds of problems, cancer being one of them (especially the HPV vaccine). Cancer is a condition, not a virus, of a very sick body system(s), especially the digestive tract which is caused by toxic overload by a variety of things, especially chemicals.

Maybe your common sense is an unreliable tool and that really is a shame, but I would not put my faith and trust in regular "doctors", "science", the government, lawyers or bankers. They will all lead astray, corrupt or take advantage to their advantage and your detriment.

And for the record, I am an educator.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." (Dr. Seuss)

Acute Leukemia not caused by

Acute Leukemia not caused by a virus?

I sympathize because now I can see where your fears stem from. I don't wish to mock or make light of your situation. I only wish to say that you can calculate exposure from a mammogram.

0.006 percent

Above is the increase in risk of cancer using statistical methods.

Doctors use radiotherapy, which is what I meant when I said radiation, when all other options are exhausted because it is a rough technique which kills all cells in a region. And sometimes it works, but yes the person under treatment suffers greatly.

That is why for older patients for whom chances of survival are low, doctors do not prescribe this treatment. It is better for them to die peacefully.

You dehumanize all doctors and everyone who works for the government. See things from their point of view once. You might be surprised at how much you have in common.

My fears stem from

an overzealous, treasonous government in partnership with big corporations (fascism).

Ask any technician how much radiation you are getting and they will not answer or skirt the issue.

Toxic overload builds up and add radiation exposure to that. It's not HEALTHY.

Radiation might "kill" cancer, but it also KILLS THE PERSON!

I have seen things from the other perspective for almost my whole life. And then I woke up!

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." (Dr. Seuss)

Yes, it always kills the

Yes, it always kills the person. Lance Armstrong is dead. A ghost won the Tour De France.

You don't need to ask the technician. He may not even know. It is information easily available on the net and I have already given it to you.

Consensus is that benefits outweigh risks. In an absolute sense, yes, not HEALTHY as you put it. In relative terms, it is important to find out what is wrong with you.

Hysterical, rude, credulous, conspiracy theorist, tin foil hat.....I'm starting to understand why these adjectives have been used to describe some supporters...

Now I will say it with all certainty...

YOU ARE A TROLL!

Do us all a favor on this site and GO AWAY!

Vaccines have low efficacy and high risks

The vaccines against lethal and maiming diseases were and still are wonderful advances. You really don't want smallpox, polio, tetanus, measles.

But that doesn't make vaccines harmless. Nor does it make vaccines for venereal diseases or minor illnesses a good idea for the general populace.

Autism is real, it has nothing to do with ipads. And it's not conclusive that autism isn't caused by vaccination, though it seems unlikely. I think research needs to look harder at environmental poisons including genetically engineered foods and at mother's pre-natal and nursing health such as insufficient fat and vitamin D in the diet.

Take back the GOP and Restore America Now.

"look harder at environmental poisons,"

Exactly environmental poisons they are in vaccines

False Vaccines do cause Autism

Read the ingredients list of the numerous vaccines the CDC wants children to take it's full of poisons ie. Mercury (thimeresol), aborted fetal tissue, Aluminum to name a few, watch a video done by a University in Canada showing what Mercury does to the brain, I dont have a link but if your truly interested in the truth, you can find it. please be informed everyone before you have children, a good book is "Educate Before You Vaccinate," thank you :)

The authors at this site do a very good job of revealing serious conflicts in the studies most often used by the medical industry and media to "prove" vaccines don't cause autism.

Also, if you haven't read "The Age of Autism" by Dan Olmsted and Mark Blaxill, I highly recommend it. It's an excellent book.

If my child was born autistic

If my child was born autistic I would love it and teach it that life is beautiful and there for the taking if you overcome your personal fear of it.

Do you know what it is like for parents with autistic children?

You can't teach some of these autistic children, depending on the severity of the condition, many things that you are talking about. They have no concept of "life" or "that life is beautiful" or "fear" or "overcome personal fear". Their language ability is likely limited. They have difficulty describing their emotions and talking about their feelings. Many have sensory issues like they cannot bear to be hugged, touched or they cannot stand crowded places, loud noises, or sand. My point is these kids have a lot of issues and being parent to an autistic kid is not as easy a job as you make it sound.

Kimmie

Autistic children

do not have a fear of "life"...
They are quite capable of enjoying many things.
They tend to have more difficulty relating to social systems.

maybe read some of my other

maybe read some of my other posts on this topic?

I did

and I find it odd that you did not agree with my statement?
You claim to be autistic and you may be. If so, I'm sure you do not lie, steal, or cheat as those traits are extremely rare in autistic people.
But from my experience with autism, you would probably be a mild case. In all honesty, I have claimed a "touch" of autism myself.
However,I have some experience with moderate to severe autistic children. They paint a different picture - and those are the ones with whom I am most concerned.
