Heading to WA County Caucus Today

We are so looking forward to our County Caucus here in Clallam Co. this morning after meeting up last evening to work over our slate strategies. We are looking forward to giving you all a good report throughout the counties in play today, but we are also not naive concerning the games some would want to play against us.

Please pray that our clarity of mind and influence of heart will prevail for Liberty this day, and help us bring our good doctor as many delegates as we can.

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. - 1 Peter 3:10-12

Reality Slate

Santorum folks have the same apprehesions regarding the Santorum/Paul slate as you all do. I am a Santorum supproter who is greatful to the Paul leadership for working with us. I just wish that the ground level supporters on both sides would remove their blinders and realize that we need each other in order to stop Romney.

i dont know if you were the guy wearing the hawaiian leis around his neck, but the person who stood up and did the speech about the "unity slate" and ripped it in half and said it is a bogus slate, and said the 'grassroots' slate was the real one.

gave him a huge applause and cheers.

Grassroot slate

I don't know if you were directing that comment at my original account of the events or the other persons post, but I'm not the Santorum guy with the Lei's around his neck.

The 'grassroots' slate was labeled 'Open Convention Slate' with a copy right on the bottom labeling it 'grassroots' something or another. It was a slate of alternating Paul & Santorum delegates.

Yes, the Santorum guy with the Lei's that ripped the "Unity Slate" in half and said vote the Open Convention/Grassroot slate did get great applause from the Paul & Santorum delegates. The Romniac's were just sitting there stunned a touch I think.

Snohomish County County Meeting 3/31/12

Things didn't go so well for us in the 44th leg. district of Snohomish County. We knew we had our work cut out for us, Romney had a majority of delegates going into the district caucus, I think it was ~>53% or so Romney from the start.

An "Open Convention" slate with Santorum alliance was attempted. The voting when on until 10pm or so, I lost track it was a LONG LONG day starting at 8am. The Romney folks figured something was up after the first ballot, they called all their delegates into the hallway to instruct them all to vote ONLY the "Unity Slate" sheets that were put in everybody's seat before we got into the auditorium. Some of us were shocked that the Romney folks didn't start leaving after the long long delays in the process of counting and balloting, but the Romniac's stuck it out in numbers. We were hoping they'd start dropping like flies for the 4th ballot where we kept 10 of our slate alive for the remaining 14 delegates open.

I don't know the official numbers, but my guesstimate was that out of our 39 delegates from the 44th, 1 went to Paul, 1 to Santorum, ~1-3 to Newt (from the local district chairs, etc. that got elected) and the rest went to the Romney slate.

There may have been more Santorums I didn't catch but the Santorum "leader" during his 30 second speech took the "Unity" Slate sheet up on stage and announced to everybody: "Any Santorum supporter, DON'T VOTE THIS SLATE! It's a Romney Slate!!" and dramatically ripped it in half and dropped it on the floor. So I'm guessing there weren't any Santorum delegates on that slate. He talked to us later and said he was telling all his people to vote the Paul\Santorum Open Convention slate but the Romniac's were running around confusing everybody telling them their slate was the 'correct' one.

At one point they even got a National Santorum representative there to address the crowd to set the record straight that Santorum personally instructed his team to support the open convention slate. The Chair denied allowing the representative to speak. It got a little tense. It didn't stop the local establishment from trying to confuse all the delgates to vote their unity slate.

It was disappointing to hear several delegates in their 30 second speech say to the effect of: "I'm a Ron Paul supporter, I really like Ron Paul, but I'm supporting Romney to have an electable candidate". I don't understand that whatsoever, a few of us muttered "sellout" every time we heard it and we just shook our heads.

It was a good old butt kicking. The only good news was when we were leaving, somebody outside mentioned that another legislative district in the County (21st, or 32nd I thought) said they got 22 out of 27 delegates for Paul. He said they kicked some serious butt. Maybe somebody can confirm what district that was, it was late when we were leaving.

Other side note, the Ron Paul campaign folks brought in some pizza, water & snacks for us when it was getting late. They made an announcement "Food for Paul Supporters in the hallway", which really was cool, made the Romniac's rather confused as they thought we were having a big strategy meeting in the hall.

Hopefully others do better.

Plus 1 for Great Info / Coverage and Organization

You win some, you lose some, but on the North Dakota thread they were lamenting "we need a plan" - and nobody can knock the campaign for not giving it 100% here. Y'all waited, y'all organized, y'all kept pressing on.

Also, speaking for myself, the so-called Sell-outs might just really not be able to stomach Santorum. I get its a strategy, but as derisive as Santorum has been toward Paul supporters before he caught on there was a delegate strategy, and with Dr. Paul not being big on stringent whipping of votes, you can see why some would think, "ehhh, I can't be a part of that."

I think you made the right call. Jesse Benton said they'd work with Romney where its advantageous, and work with Santorum where advantageous, doing what's in our best interest. Romney is my 2nd choice, but if the Romney so-called Unity Slate was already unanimously their choice, and put in your chair before things kick off (that sounds a dubious practice!), then its not as if you could have negotiated a better deal with them.

Snohomish is a pretty wealthy county, right?

That would explain it.

The comfortable are not voting Paul, but for the status quo.

Well, lets not paint with a collectivist brush...

I saw 2 large Ron Paul banners in Highland Park, Texas. One was strategically located along Preston Rd. Maybe George & Laura will have to drive past it.

Come one, come all
to good Dr. Paul :)

I offer up encouragement

Its way past time good men and women stand up to tyrany in this country, every time one of us stands against the tide of debt slavery humanity gets a little more free. Thank you and I promise when my turn comes in Texas in a month or so, Ill stand up as well. Holding my nose and fighting all my instincts I to will go into the belly of the beast, GOP. Hope we can give it a huge stomach ache. We have already won all we have to do is keep up standing up.

Thanks again

Delegates

That was a pretty interesting process we had in Clallam County today. I was a little disappointed I couldn't become a State Delegate. I might have if I had made the meet-up yesterday but alas, I had to drive my brother and co to his lacrosse game. I think my vote did make a difference given the last 3 delegate spots of the 7 in district 2 were all Ron Paul people, so every vote counts! Thanks to the people who handed me the sheet for who to vote at the convention. :D :D

Just being there to vote for others made a huge difference

That was what I had to console myself with also. I spoke with an organizer in Jefferson Co. who also found himself in the same place.

I know that we made a difference for others that might not have moved into state delegation without our showing up and encouraging others to do the same. No doubt, there are reasons that we don't yet know of, and outcomes we can still uniquely influence if we just remain open and available. It's not over 'til it's over!

I'm thinking of fund-raisers like car washes, where we can pass out Liberty info, while helping to support delegates and alternates for whom the state and national convention costs might be a bigger burden than they can comfortably carry themselves.

Just got back from the Clallam County convention

Just reporting real quick on the fly that out of the 21 delegates elected to state, 13 of them are for Ron Paul, so despite getting kind of screwed over in one of our districts, we still got the majority! thank you for all of the prayers!

Many of the "undecided" went to Romney, but we still prevailed

Mine was the largest of the three districts we were divided into. We had 17 in my district who had declared themselves, "undecided", back in the precinct caucus that were nominated on the floor at the county level. Most of them declared themselves for Romney or Santorum at that time. We found several Paul supporters we didn't know we had, but it wasn't enough to give us as much of an upper hand that we thought we had going in today. Because of that huge influx, our expected strength was diluted, and I was the only Paul delegate in my district who didn't get something. :(

The smaller districts did better for Paul. All total, out of the 21 delegates and 21 alternatives, we won 13 delegates and 10 alternates, but we have yet to see how many of the alternates will win the draw to move on to the state convention.

When prepping for caucus...

You should have received a list with all of the delegates listed on it. For the leaders still prepping for caucus you must call all the unknowns and undecideds and find out who they support so you know your numbers going in. Also, you may be able to turn some of them. The leaders should be assessing their relative strength and determining a strategy for success.

We swept in the 36th and I sure as heck called all the unks and undecs.

We found many of the undecided were just undeclared ABPs

It wasn't that they were open to Paul at all, they were just poker players who wouldn't show their hand until the county caucus. We wouldn't have likely persuade any of them, as we heard the way they spoke of their support for their candidate of choice during their 30 second speeches.

It may have been a ploy on their part to have kept us unaware of their intentions, and therefore more confident of our prospects heading into this. Paul did very well here in the 2008 race in all three district, but ours was the weakest then and now, and has the largest percentage of wealthy retired folks in it. They tend to feel themselves more insulated from the outcome of their bad political choices by sticking with the status-quo that best serves their traditions and short-termed interests, imo.

Their feelings of insulation

Their feelings of insulation are utterly foolish. The Fed is eating their wealth.

The newly created money loaned at 0.01% keeps them from receiving interest on their savings, which otherwise could grow. The inflation devalues their dollar-denominated assets and creates phoney capital gains to be taxed when they sell any NON-dollar-denominated assets to convert them to cash or otherwise trade them for something they need.

The bailouts prevent recycling the assets of broken industries and clearing of the markets, necessary for a robust recovery which in turn is necessary for their investments to prosper.

The "stimulus" kills about five jobs for every one it "creates or saves". And it sucks value out of the private sector to throw it at inefficient operations of favored cronies - like Solyndra - while inhibiting real investment in the same sectors by giving these crony-run fronts a massive financial advantage if the sector DOES happen to have untapped demand.

So by voting for candidates who would continue and expand this system they're doing themselves enormous harm. What a pity they've been so enormously suckered.

= = = =
"Obama’s Economists: ‘Stimulus’ Has Cost $278,000 per Job."

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

Looking forward to a report!!

I've lit a candle for you at a church today.

It's not common for me to go to church, but today I felt compelled stepping into one when passing by. I've lit a candle and said a prayer for you guys.

Amen...Lets Do It!

Glad to see another follower of Christ for Ron Paul!

I am glad to pray - hope not too late!

They're out there, but like Paul for Christ...

...they walk humbly, trying to reflect it through the walk, not chant it from the rooftops like Huckatorums.

Beautiful, beautiful verse.

Sending a shout out to those who drove the extra miles

to help us with our strategy meeting last evening. TJ and Larry, from Jefferson Co., your help was sooo encouraging and insightful. James and, I thinking it was Dana, who drove all the way from Pierce Co., we hope we can reward your efforts.

Thank again, folks!
