Rumors of Ron Paul Campaign Demise Greatly Exaggerated

TAMPA, March 31, 2012 – In their mad dash to create the long awaited general election narrative, media outlets have pronounced Ron Paul’s campaign dead.

They now speculate about what his supporters may do when he drops out. The Associated Press reports that Romney has over ten times the delegates that Ron Paul has secured. Reuters reports that Paul is far behind in Wisconsin and that his supporters have finally conceded that he can’t win the nomination.

None of this is true. Romney has not secured 568 delegates. Hundreds of those delegates won’t be determined until Republican state conventions, many of which haven’t happened yet.

As I’ve reported before, there is very credible evidence that Ron Paul will emerge from those conventions with the majority of delegates in many states. Texas, New York and California haven’t even held their primaries yet. Those three states alone control over four hundred delegates.

In many states, there is no cause-effect relationship between the popular vote and the delegates awarded to each candidate. Delegates are awarded via a completely separate process that doesn’t utilize the popular vote totals in any way. The purpose of the popular vote is to inform the eventual delegates of the preferences of voters in their states. That’s why many of those states allow Democrats and independents to vote. They want the eventual delegates to know who those voters prefer. That tells them who has the best chance to win in the general election.

So many times I have read about my demise in the morening paper.

Manifestly, dying is nothing to a really great and brave man.
- Mark Twain - Letter to Olivia Clemens, 7/1/1885 (referring to General Grant)

It has been reported that I was seriously ill--it was another man; dying--it was another man; dead--the other man again...As far as I can see, nothing remains to be reported, except that I have become a foreigner. When you hear it, don't you believe it. And don't take the trouble to deny it. Merely just raise the American flag on our house in Hartford and let it talk.
Mark Twain - Letter to Frank E. Bliss, 11/4/1897

Ron Paul & his campaign are fine. Both are healthy & wise. Wealthy could not be reached for comment.

even if you're bound to the primary winner on the first vote, if no one gets 1,144, you'll be unbound for the second vote and can vote for RP.

ok thanks. Im wondering if

ok thanks. Im wondering if you know anything about the process in texas. I tried looking but no luck. Thanks

Yes Indeed Tom- America loves instant and quick products

This country has become filled with worry-warts and hurry-warts. A sad fact as evidenced by todays Washington Post front page which just the first few sentences indicates that Mitt will sew it all up on Tuesday in Wisconsin then he and Obama can get down to business. This hurry up madness just shows how the media also has no concern what-so-ever for due-process, whether it's individual justice or the delegate selection p-r-o-c-e-s-s. Slow and methodical processes bore the sensationalist propaganda of the MSM. It reflects the same quick victory mentality that George W Bush exhibited with his "Mission Accomplished" declaration in Iraq back in '03.
Movements like the Liberty movement are slow but unstoppable upheavals like a glacier. The rebirth of affection for THE CONSTITUTION and its potent restraint on federal and executive power is just that, a rebirth, and such is the beauty of rediscovered truth that you cannot put the baby back in the womb of discontent from which it has emerged.
This child has opened her eyes wide and will wail constantly until the satisfactory milk of the restored republic is secured.
Let's say, against all the bias of the BS-M(MSM,) that the election of Ron Paul to the presidency is really just the beginning of that suckle. The long movement towards that restoration of a sound Constitutional Republic has just begun.
The growth of this re-emerged child now regularly must be nourished with the solid food (reasoning) of our founders and many more elections- c-y-c-l-e-s to become a weaned youngling ready to stand strong amongst the other malnourished children of earth's peoples.
Our p-i-l-g-r-i-m-a-g-e is long but the fruit is SO WORTH IT!

Let's keep on keep'n on for our children and our children's children and our children's ch..........

With all due respect, I will no longer be a voting prostitute for Constitution rejecting harlots.

Thank you Tom

Just when you loose all hope in the Media, there's somebody who will tell it like it is.
If only more Americans would read these stories.

Most of them, are unfortunately watch TV, and hearing nothing about Ron Paul or pot shots like CNN this AM "Ron Paul's campaign should enter the witness protection program" .

Tom keep going, the truth always comes out in the end, lies do not last the test of time.

"This isn't what the govern meant"

"Win the crowd and you will win your freedom"

Thank you Tom Mullen

Thank you for writing this and putting the record, so far, straight.

People love Ron Paul, because he doesn't embody greed and hate like some of the other candidates. Quite the opposite. That's why they're ready to walk through fire for the cause that Ron Paul embodies, the cause of liberty, and mutual respect for others individual rights. When you have this respect for others, the use of coercion or force is not neccessary. Ron Paul understands that compassion and love for your fellow man starts with these things. They do not begin with coercion and force, as that only ends in tyranny.

When they took us off the Gold Standard they took away our money... in order to make it theirs. -OneTinSoldier

I appreciated both your post and the tagline

, OneTinSoldier. (This was one of my favorite songs in high school, my best friend and I sat at the piano and sang as she played, Thanks for reminding me of some fun times)

Great writing once again, Tom, and Thank you.
