Paul, Santorum, And Gingrich Accept Invite To Texas GOP Debate; Cocky Mitt Romney 'Declines'
Submitted by shifty1032231 on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 23:44The Republican Party of Texas is making plans to host a presidential debate in Texas before the May 29 primaries.
Party chairman Steve Munisteri announced Friday that all the major candidates except Mitt Romney have accepted the invitation. Munisteri said Romney, the front-runner, has not yet ruled out an appearance.
But Romney spokesman Ryan Williams told The Texas Tribune late Friday that the former Massachusetts governor is looking ahead toward the general election.
“The only debates our campaign is focused on are with President Obama in the fall," Williams said.
There is no date or location yet, but Munisteri said a major TV outlet has agreed to sponsor a debate with all the candidates.
“There is a significant chance that they will televise the debate even if we are lacking only one candidate. We already have commitments from former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Texas Congressman Ron Paul and Senator Rick Santorum to participate in such a debate,” Munisteri said. “Both my staff and myself have reached out to the campaign of Gov. Mitt Romney and have been told that they are considering attending the debate."

I think if he declines there will be no debate. However if it did happen and a national network carried it I would bet this could really hurt Romney.

Don't get your hopes up too high
GOP do not think too highly of him here. He didn't do well in the 2008 GOP primary, Out of 254 counties, he did not win one county. His total percentage was 4.87%.
The name of the game here is delegates for Paul. I think he will do well. He got more delegates than expected last go round, but the shenanigans were in full force to keep us out.

The so-called "front-runner" avoids debates, and his position as the front-runner is essentially secure now... regardless of the delegate count. Among the GOP, he's their guy. As a general election candidate, he's 100% loser.
