Ron Paul: the Road to Revolution Video Game

Hey guys,

I'm a programmer and artist, and a huge gamer, particularly a fan of classic 8bit and arcade. I recently started developing a Ron Paul video game and could use your help.

First, some info about the game:

The Road to REVOLution is a sidescrolling platformer action/adventure game, reminiscent of console classics like Super Mario Brothers and Sonic the Hedgehog.

You play Ron, and make your way across all 50 states collecting Gold (sound money) and Delegates.

The game has all original artwork, by me.

I built the game in HTML5, and hope to convert it into apps for i* and android platforms.

You'll collect Delegates to ensure your seat as the President, collect Gold Coins to unlock branches of the Federal Reserve where you defeat bosses and progress your quest to end the Federal Reserve.

More info and a video with gameplay footage at my kickstarter page:

100% free to play in your web browser
50+ Levels designed around each of the United States
13 Boss Fights representing each branch of the Federal Reserve
Challenging puzzle-platformer element. There's no 'beating up monsters until they're dead' aspect. You must guide the baddies through each level.
original soundtrack
bonus unlockable characters (surprises)
Continuable, level-based adventure - think Super Mario World

I could really use some help spreading the word about the game. My sincere hope is that this excites you and those that you tell about it. This game is my gift to the revolution.

I'm trying to raise some money to help with development, but I'm offering some pretty rad prizes (in my opinion) for pledges.

$20 gets you beta access, so you can play the game a month or so before it officially launches
$30 gets you an exclusive poster
$50 gets you an exclusive T-Shirt and the poster
$150 gets you the poster, T-shirt and a hand-drawn cartoony sketch of Ron Paul, signed by me

I'm really just looking for excitement. I appreciate whatever can be done to help me get the word out about the game.

Thanks a lot, guys,

The project has been funded! So awesome, a huge thanks to everyone who contributed and have helped to spread the word about the game.

The full pledge goal was reached within 48 hours of launching. So awesome.

The pressure is definitely on.

Nice job Daniel!

Geesh...wish I could play

but...sadly I couldn't even get Mario to jump over the first hole when the game first came out....but....my children excelled naturally in these computer games and now own and run their own IT companies. Our family still finds good humor in my lack of computer game skills :) ...but.....I am happy to have the skill of creating the 3D backgrounds and textures.

Here's a video game that

Here's a video game whose game play looks similar to your game's. Maybe it can give you ideas. It's Wizards and Warriors III. In it the warrior can don costumes for powers and access to towns people he'd be denied as a warrior. Perhaps this clip can be helpful to you.

Dude, I totally remember that

Dude, I totally remember that game! I had / may still have the first two on NES... I think Fabio was on the cover of the 2nd one..

Fabio is on the cover of Iron

Fabio is on the cover of Iron Sword II! You got it, man! lol. I have that game and the first one but not the third one. Watching the third one on Youtube, though, makes me want it! lol. I love the old school games, 8-, 16- and 32-bit games! I can't wait to play your game, ds!

Below, where I said something about the people who contributed to your game, I meant that if you put their names in the credits that you could play with the name of the category of those people, saying: Backers (and future rEVOL congress candidates? or something to that effect) lol. Anyway, talk with you later, man, and update us on your game now and then. Later!

It would be nice if the Reloveution could infiltrate a Romney,or,Santorum town hall meeting to ask questions Romney, and Rick don`t really expect to be ask by their little RSVP crowds like: I have a video here Mitt that shows you bragging about scamming millions of dollars from the Dept of Ed...will you show it now?

Competing Currencies/Decentralized Life, Ending, Indie Game Rec

Don't forget competing currencies!! A commodity backed dollar is nice and all, but see if you can implement competing currencies in the game! Maybe they can appear after the Federal Reserve -- and the global institutions that would issue, transact and control currencies -- crumble. Towns people countrywide would start their own currencies, whether they be gold, silver, rubies, stones, state currencies, use of the US dollar still, tree bark, spices, chickens, rooster, cows, effort, whatever! Yeah!

Competing currencies can be the second half of the game or a smaller portion of the game after the tough stuff has been done, just building up society where people can relax, spend time doing what they want, playing checkers on the front porch or backgammon on the back porch or shootin' hoops with the guys on the driveway. We can all live happily ever after! lol!

Then the ending scene sequence can maybe be akin to Zelda's Link holding the completed triangle, where RP holds up the Constitution and the last amendment moves into place and the lines or stitchings that hold the Constitution together disappear! lol. Then go from one peaceful scene to another, however many there are, with a scene here and there of the bad guys being rounded up after a concluded court or outside a building and put into prison, then the camera can zoom out/up from the last happy scene to the city where dots who would be the people can be seen moving about to the state where smaller dots are moving about to the region where even smaller dots are moving about to the country where even smaller dots still are moving about then to the world where a very, very faint smile across the world is composed of barely moving dots -- all because the Constitution has been pieced together (the last amendment whatever it is awarded after the Big Bad Central Bank and its affiliates have been conquered) and all politicians adhere to it! Let's learn while we play the game!

Thank you for your effort, dswilliams!

PS. For what it's worth, there are two awesome independent games on xBox Live downloadable for 80 points each. Soul Caster I and Soulcaster II. I think their creator Ian Stocker is planning at least a Soulcaster III. The game is a retro 8bit tower defense game whose subject is a wizard who summons three spirits to fight for him. I don't know. Maybe this tactic can be utilized in your rEVOLution game?? RP summons Washington, Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln (for issuing government currency to move away from private-government issued currency), JFK and other presidents and/or notable historic persons such as Benjamin Franklin and Benjamin Rush (a doctor who considered putting medical freedom into the Constitution) who did things for freedom. Maybe these two games can give you idears!! :D

Ideas about Jefferson can be retrieved at this favorite radio show of mine, the Thomas Jefferson Hour at jeffersonhour.org. Jefferson portrayer Clay Jenkinson does a good job most times, but sometimes he takes sharp pivots away from what is likely, that Jefferson did know about central banking. Jenkinson can be heard saying when he's in character that, I never liked banking, so I didn't study it, but I can say (hold your breath!) regulation of banks ought to be under the purview of government. Yeah, right. Whatever. Clay has more learning to do about Jefferson (and freedom!). I addressed this overdue need here, www.dailypaul.com/167702/a-radio-show-especially-for-the-dai.... I tried to "anchor" that URL in the word "here," but after five or so attempts I gave up.

PSS. Leave room for a sequel! lol. Is there another "Ron" in the wings -- maybe Rand Paul and individuals throughout the country? Maybe those individuals can be the people who contributed to your game financially or in some other important aspect?? So, regarding and assuming Rand is the next Ron, you got four years to make the sequel, where I hope Ron is an unlockable character who's as strong or even stronger than Rand or whoever the protagonist is! lol!!

I used to love Donkey Kong, and Jumpman for the Commodore 64.

Thank you! Looking forward to the game.

All art is only done by the individual. The individual is all you ever have, and all schools only serve to classify their members as failures. E.H.

Holy crap. Did you already

Holy crap. Did you already get to $5,000??

Idea for an enemy:

Chickenhawks. Should be fairly easy to come up with a nice look for the chickenhawk enemy. Maybe they are not very dangerous themselves but gives increased stamina/life/damage/whatever to regular enemies in the vicinity.

Very very nice!!! But please

Very very nice!!!
But please change the picture of Ron Paul at the startup. Hes looking evil. The master of the constitution and superhero of a game shouldn't look evil!

I'm pretty decent with photoshop if you need anything

He needs donations of about

He needs donations of about $167 a day for 1 month to reach the goal. Come on people. Look at the silver dime success. You're getting a poster, t-shirt and more for the $50 donation. Lets do it!

Constitution/Founding Fathers a must have!

I agree about incorporating the Constitution and the Founding Fathers.

Maybe a bit where Ron Paul gets discouraged, never going to happen, and he's found studying the Constitution. Then in a vision, or something like the short film American Dream, the Founders appear to him!

I think that would be cool and inspiring.

Thanks for your work!
