Gov. Rick Perry flys to Nebraska to nosh on "delicious pink slime"

Great pics in this article.

Rick Perry and officials from four other states are rushing to Beef Products’ defense. Perry, Kansas governor Sam Brownback, Iowa governor Terry Branstad and the lieutenant governors of Nebraska and South Dakota were in South Sioux City, Nebraska Thursday, touring one of Beef Products’ remaining plants and sampling burgers containing the product for the cameras.

As Tim Eaton of the Austin American Statesman reported, “officials said they felt it was important to counter myths and misconceptions about ‘lean finely textured beef.’”

This is BS. The industry

This is BS. The industry when through all the proper channels to get the slim approved. The woman who made the decision to approve the mix is former undersecretary of agriculture, Joann Smith. When Smith left the USDA in 1993, she was appointed to the board of directors for BPI's principal major supplier where she reportedly made at least $1.2 million over the next 17 years. The USDA said that, while Smith's appointment was legal at the time, she could not have immediately joined the board under current ethics rules.

This isn't America anymore if you cannot make millions buying off USDA officials to ok the selling of cheap processed slime under the name of a product consumers want.

the american dream is dead.

ahhh...hows that ammonia taste boys? The raw beef is sprayed

with ammonia prior to sale. not to mention the chemicals & herbicides in the food the animals eat-and the fact that the food is genetically modified garbage....add in all the antibiotics the cows are given to off-set all the diseases these animals get from being penned up & eating garbage food all day. mmm...sounds like the perfect meal for (sleazy) politicians like Rick Perry

Pour the crap down their throats raw.

I get all my meat from a local meat market that grinds it fresh in store each day and sources it local.

Screw the crappy supermarkets.

Screw Walmart.

Screw McDonalds.

Screw Perry, Brownback and their game to save ruthless corporate farming.

Making a run for the border !! :)

Unless I am starving to death, fast food burgers and tacos are off my list. Only if the beef is bought from a local butcher/farmer. btw, where have all the buthchers gone? :(

I will eat veggie pizzas and subs though.

I still see butchers quite often

Granted, they're usually part of a larger, (usually) family-operated business, but they're still around!

I too only eat fast food as a last resort...but I have to say, those egg McMuffins aren't bad (tasting). Not as good as a homemade one, but I'll take it in a pinch.

A signature used to be here!

Like they say, You are what

You are quoting a communist Philosopher.. Ludwig Feuerbach

You know that right?

No, I didn't know that. Now

No, I didn't know that. Now a question for you. If a communist says something, is it automatically wrong because it is said by a communist?

Do you know who said, "Government of the people, by the people, for the people"? And is it right or wrong because of who said it, or is it right or wrong because of HOW it was said?
