Man whose WMD lies led to 100,000 deaths confesses all

Jonathan Owen | The Independent

Defector tells how US officials 'sexed up' his fictions to make the case for 2003 invasion

A man whose lies helped to make the case for invading Iraq – starting a nine-year war costing more than 100,000 lives and hundreds of billions of pounds – will come clean in his first British television interview tomorrow.

"Curveball", the Iraqi defector who fabricated claims about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, smiles as he confirms how he made the whole thing up. It was a confidence trick that changed the course of history, with Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi's lies used to justify the Iraq war.

He tries to defend his actions: "My main purpose was to topple the tyrant in Iraq because the longer this dictator remains in power, the more the Iraqi people will suffer from this regime's oppression."

Dr.Ron Paul's 2002 Predictions

Hopefully none of you...

fall for this utter crap... nice fall guy! *sigh*
"Oh we believed him, he was trustworthy at the time, we had no reason to doubt him" oh FFS...
Pardon my french!

Wrong guy

Curveball is the wrong guy. Opportunistic liar, sure, but yellow cake ~ who sold that deal sealing whopper? The alleged war crimes ultimately fall to Bush, but there are clear crimes belonging to members of Congress that abdicated their legal responsibility to properly declare war.

I see the same sycophant media talking heads that perpetuated the lies, some even after knowing they were untrue, going about their careers with such arrogance. No shame.

Really disgusting individuals, with plenty of culpability to go round D.C., a few laps at least.

Did any of yaal see the Kokesh video of his caucus event, talking to the nice old lady? The original media lies regarding Iraq and 9/11 stuck in that ladies mind and influence her decisions, even after all the retractions and revelations that have come since then. Amazing.

Why do I feel like if we had

Why do I feel like if we had an honest media this sh** would be considered a tragedy...

We Are Only as Sick as Our Secrets

Evil always turns in upon itself.

Gulf of Tonkin?

What else is new? The same cards seem to get played over and over again...

"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!" Barry Goldwater

again an example of foreign entanglements

Ron Paul would never have gotten us into what the criminal bush banker family did, yet the GOP thugs still promote their sold out whorepuppet Mittens.

Simply put replacing Tyrants is all that we see.

We all know they had been planning this for years

Curveball just provided a convenient story to help justify it and our so-called leaders, George and tony, seized on it.

Hysterical clip from the Chappelle Show back in the day about the Iraq war - Black Bush:

*Lot's of use of the N-Word and bleeped profanity*:

With liberty and justice for all...who can afford it.

Great laugh! Thanks for posting!

Hahahaha! I needed that laugh, amitj78. Thanks for posting the link! Sometimes I feel as if I was the only one who could see through Bush's ridiculous arguments for going to war with Iraq. It's always reassuring to realize that there are hoards of us who cannot be fooled. Go Ron Paul (Black or White)!

Yeah that is one of my favorite comedy routines...

regarding Bush and Iraq. I miss Dave.

With liberty and justice for all...who can afford it.

So basically,

My main purpose was to topple the tyrant in Iraq because the longer this dictator remains in power, the more the Iraqi people will suffer from this regime's oppression."

So basically, "the end justified the means."

Now where have I heard that one before...?

A signature used to be here!

But actually,

Now the Iraqi people have suffered far worse, far longer, than under the former regime's oppression.

Nice going.

'Cause there's a monster on the loose

Seems to be the case

when people use such justifications, yes?

What gets me is, how can ANYONE believe this "Iran has a nuke OMG" nonsense when something like this slaps them in the face? It's absolutely mind-boggling to ponder...but perhaps that is a prerequisite for understanding such a mindset.

There are still Republicans who will swear up and down that Iraq had WMDs...ay yi yi.
