Why I Want To Be A Nevada Delegate To TampaSubmitted by bobspirit on Wed, 04/04/2012 - 03:10
For most of my life I have not concerned myself with politics. It seemed clear that only those with an unnatural desire for power and control over others were active in it, and I wanted no part of it. In my apathy and cynicism I asked, what does it matter? What can one man do?
Ghandi said we must be the change we wish to see in the world. So if anything is going to change for the better, it is I who must change first.
Ron Paul has shown me what one man can do. So my question has changed now to What Can This Man Do?
I have answered by patroling my precinct for months before the caucus, and as acting caucus chair I delivered over 75% of my precinct votes for Paul, and 100% of the delegates. At that caucus I also took it upon myself to obtain volunteers from 21 others precincts to be caucus chairs, and then trained them on how to do it. I did this with without any experience on how a caucus is actually chaired. I saw what needed to be done, and I acted. When the caucus was over, my site coordinator hugged me.
I've been elected to the Republican State Central Committee and I have been asked to serve on the state fundraising committee, a post I am considering.
But mostly what I have done is write, and speak. I've made it my personal mission here at Daily Paul to inspire and energize Paul supporters all over the world in our quest for liberty. I have received e-mails and support for my writing from as far away as Serbia, South Africa, and Australia. I was even interviewed recently on a radio show in Maine. I had to get up before 5 AM for that, and if you knew me you would know what a heroic effort that was!
Ron Paul inspires the hero that lurks in me.
Every few days I cruise the internet and make it a point to call out the stupidity and lies in rags like The Washington Post, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, etc.
I go after them hard, but I always come back to the importance of unity.
Every moment of every human life contains within it the ultimate choice; will I act from love or will I act from fear?
If liberty is to be won, it will be because we chose love.
When that first ballot in Tampa does not yield a clear winner, then it's going to be roller derby without skates and the job of the Ron Paul delegate will be twofold, and crucial.
One, to resist any attempts to swing his vote away from Paul, and two, to get the other delegates to shift their votes TO Paul. The presidency will be won among those 2800 people, and the job we do in choosing love, and the invincible power that it brings to our side, is how we will prevail, and liberty will be won.
Between now and May 1st, Nevada delegates will be deciding who the 6 delegates will be from congressional district 3 for the Ron Paul slate to the national convention.
I am asking for the support of any of my fellow state delegates here. Please send me to Tampa. I will strap my hero on after the first ballot and go after the other guys delegates with all the eloquence, moxy, and determination I can muster.
I will not yield. I will not back down. And somehow I will find that secret power that lives in all us and figure a way to love those misguided Romney and Santorum delegates into liberty's light. UNITY.
Warmest Regards To All Of My Countrymen,
Las Vegas, Nevada
