These Crowds Get Great Local Coverage--WATCH THIS

You want to know how many. I want to know. At this point it's not possible to know. There are all kinds of bogus guesstimates.

Daily Paul user CB4Freedom says it better than I could:

"It's striking to watch the establishment GOP squabble over their feeble control of today while Ron Paul silently takes it over by winning the hearts and minds of the next generation."

He should've ridden a bicycle

instead of walking those last few hundred feet out to the platform. That would have been a Kodak moment. The media would shit their pants.

TIME Magazines's 100 most influential people: Vote for Ron Paul

"Cast your votes for the leaders, artists, innovators, icons and heroes you think are the most influential people in the world. Official voting ends on Friday, April 6, and the poll winner will be included in the TIME 100 issue. The complete TIME 100 list will be chosen by our editors and revealed on TIME.com on Tuesday, April 17."-By Time Staff 3/29/2012

We should take some time to vote for the good doctor. Maybe, specially if he ranks #1, Ron Paul can reach a new pool of individuals who have not been exposed to the philosophy of liberty.

some great panos were shown in the thread,
so I thought I'd also present some closer detail ...

How many people were actually there.

As I was walking out, I heard people estimating 10,000 people. I've read other reports of 8,000 in the stadium and so on.

In reality, the stadium can hold 5,500 to 8,100, depending on the configuration. Tonight it wasn't setup to hold 8,100 since Dr. Paul was on the center court. Since he was on the center court, about 1,000 of the seats, fell behind his stage and no one was sitting in that area.

With that said, a good 1,000to 2,000 people were standing around the top and the outside of the stadium and some even took to climbing into the trees.

By my estimate, we had a good 7,000 people at the rally, which is an amazing turnout. If you want to be conservative about it, call it 6,500+.

Here's a video of the standing ovation Dr. Paul got when he walked in: http://youtu.be/cF5bdsrm3n4

Keep up the good work and lets keep fighting for liberty & freedom!

You are correct

That's why I'm not calling a number; I consider it dishonest to do so.

I really have no clue how many were there and NO ONE does.

It's the seating configuration question, just as you say.

The place CAN hold 10,000 (even as many as 12,500)---however, it WAS NOT set-up that way for this event.

I have no clue of the capacity for whatever configuration they used.

ANYONE saying differently either is lying or plainly doesn't care about the truth.

We have enough people in media lying about our guy all the time...even lying by omission.

I don't want to join them.

I had hoped the student newspaper there, The Daily Bruin, would have helped. They didn't help. They say "more than 5,000". Technically correct...

I didn't want to use weasel words like that. Sure, it was more than 5,000. It also was more than either Madison or Chico...you can tell by looking, by a glance at the photos.

However, the Chico figures are inflated...it wasn't 6,200 as I've made clear...I posted that original figure of 6,200 and everyone ran with it. However, I noted that it came from an NBC Reporter who got it from the Paul campaign.

It was a figure pulled out of some hat. It never was accurate.

The UCLA attendance just blew away every previous event.

That's all I know for sure.

And, I hope Berkeley kicks UCLA butt later on, tonight.

Thank you for your observations.

I was there

and carpooled with 3 former strangers and now friends, all from a link in the Daily Paul.

They that give up liberty for security deserve neither.

I agree.

I was one of the people that barely missed getting in. When I asked if there were 10,000 people in there, they said capacity was 5,500, and they were at/close to capacity. Apparently, the website was erroneous, or was based on the possibility of floor chairs. I actually got in eventually, filling some of the empty seats on his right side. But I think your estimation might be correct. I would say we could have matched the Chico crowd if they weren't turning people away.

And whats up with the no signs policy? Everybody had to drop the signs they brought if they wanted to get in. I lost the only one I had.

Most of those back seats ended up being filled, too...

I was held up at the gates initially while the fire martial was making sure more people could be let in. Once they started letting us through the gates again (around the time Ron Paul was saying "be careful, Bernanke might hear us!"), most of the seats behind the stage (where I ended up sitting) filled up, as shown in the end of that 3:00 youtube clip. Here's a photo of the only seats left empty: http://screencast.com/t/snA0z23K

If everyone does this, we win:

1) Make a list of 10 people you know and like.

2) Ask if they have a candidate preference. Focus in on the apolitical/apathetic ones. Don't push RP on them or they'll get turned off.

3) Politely ask the apathetic ones do you the personal favor of accompanying you to the polls to vote for RP. They'll probably agree because they like you and now you'll owe them a favor. (Spare the details, just say it's important to to you and to the country.)

4) Fill out registration cards from the state elections website, get them signed, and mail them.

5) Call everyone back the night before the election and reconfirm with a time. Don't accept that they'll drive themselves. They won't. We have to drive them.

6) Drive their butts to the polls and thank them.

This is many times more effective than almost anything else we can do because it leads DIRECTLY to votes. There is no disconnect. Don't waste time debating with the brainwashed. Most of them will talk a big game but they don't even bother to vote in primaries.

If we all did this, we'd dominate every election.

Ignore the media's lies and propaganda.

YES. Keep spreading this.

YES. Keep spreading this. This is what it takes to win, and the Paul campaign is not getting this message out.

Four men for every woman.

Four men for every woman. Think of how large and unstoppable the movement would be if the sexes were equally represented. What's worse is that your girlfriend or wife has the power to cancel your vote.

But the ones that were there were gorgeous. Seriously.

I was there

Great to see all the other SoCal supporters! Heck yeah!

The place was packed wall to wall. 2 days notice, and we get 8,000+ people? Give me Liberty!

right you are

I've been supporting the good doctor since 1999 when I was 18-years old.

I never in a million years would have thought he'd be this popular.

The main grandstand surrounds three courts, and has a capacity of 5,800 spectators... Wikipedia. 10,000 is the whole 8 court complex - Paul's speech was held at the main 3 court grandstand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles_Tennis_Center

Still atmosphere was electric... this snow ball is rolling steady :)

Well looked at Google maps and try to figure out if there is more sitting at the remaining 5 courts, but it doesn't seem like there is so 10,000 might be it - wow!

Im Loving Me Some Cali Right Now!!

You guys have been ROCKIN' IT the past couple of days and I salute you all!!!

Give us one more at Berkley tomorrow!!!

This doesn't end with a Rally, this shows Ron has appeal, far and wide!

Okay, so, now here's what I DEMAND, "GOP" :

Find me ANY (other than Ron Paul, tonight, UCLA, USA, CA, Earth) of your so-called "candidate runners for the presidential election" able :

1. to fill a 8,000+ seats stadium

3. who heard about the speaker, AND BY LARGE, EXCLUSIVELY thru WORD OF MOUTH and/or WWW lookups

4. and for some of them, during tonight's event SO CRAVING TO HEAR AND SEE the speaker, willing TO CLIMB TREES and not thinking about it other than that

Till I see that:

My friend left to get a drink..

he came back laughing saying 'THEY'RE IN THE TREES!!!'

They that give up liberty for security deserve neither.

Some walk a mile for a Camel

Some climb trees for Paul.

It's a matter of free choice.

I've ridden a Camel in Cairo

and I would walk a mile to ride another.

They that give up liberty for security deserve neither.

there was still a LOT of people to the other side of me...probably about 3 or 4 sections filled with people.
