The Berkeley Chapter of Students for Liberty helped co-ordinate this event --- It could not have been easy and Students for Liberty and people just like them in the other cities did a helluva job. Thank you all!

My guess on audience size is comparative; like the other events it's not possible to know a hard number. The Berkeley audience was perhaps roughly the size of Chico and Madison. I really haven't seen enough to know for sure.

It was not as big as UCLA. For now, BRUINS RULE!

Video: (:37 sec)At UC Berkeley 48 years ago, Mario Savio delivered a speech about The Machine. A speech much like what Ron Paul will deliver tonight.

America Needs to Stand Tall (and Vote for Ron Paul) Song Recorded by Ken Suitter - 1 of the 2 RP supporters arrested in St. Charles, MO.

May 4, 1970, National Guard troops killed 4 people at Kent State.

Nationwide, students went on strike, closing hundreds of colleges and high schools. They were protesting illegal, immoral war and the expansion of that undeclared war into Cambodia.

President Nixon was removed from Washington, D.C., for security reasons.

Reflecting on it later, Neil Young wrote the song:Ohio (music video here)

40 years ago Ohio said what Ron Paul says today.

Ohio (lyrics here) asks "How can you run when you know?":

In recent days, thousands stood with Ron Paul-- in Madison, in Chico and last night in Los Angeles.

Ohio issues a call to action:"Gotta get down to it, soldiers are cutting us down, should have been done long ago."

40 years later Ron Paul calls us to action!

Gotta get down to it. We don't run!

Today, thousands stand with Ron Paul in the Bay Area.

There's no way to stop an idea whose time has come.

Looks like a nice size crowd

Maybe 1,500 to 2,000 people? Who has confirmation on the head count?

He is growing into his role...and talked several times about

what would happen when he was President....he is gaining confidence from us. I saw estimates now of 10,000 tonight.

WOW

how can he continue to get better and better ... this speech - I am speechless .... I thought I had heard his best a dozen times before ... and now this.
Berkeley, people - Berkeley.... wow!

i think

that was one of his best deliveries, he was on fire in my opinion and never cooled off, and he made sure to let people know to vote republican and paul at least this year, now it is time to make sure we win some districts, counties, the state.

Thank you

15 min limit

Forgot about the Youtube 15 minute that's why it wouldn't process. I'm trying to work on cutting the video now.

8000+

Hearing word that there were over 8000 people in attendence.

"Believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear." - Benjamin Franklin

There were thousands of people today at the base of the UC

Berkeley Library. I'm not knowledgeable about crowd size but
I counted some rows and did a bit of multiplication and I am going to say 5500 people.

I was in the second front row and I stood on these cypress bushes and others were also standing on the cypress bushes and hundreds were up on the balcony adjacent to the library.

The microphone could have been louder, but it was ok where I was but some people could not hear well...it SHOULD have been louder..especially for the people way back up on the hill.

Hey-guess what! Dr. Paul looks like he has a suntan. He is really animated and looked real spiffy in a sharp dark jacket that was perfectly tailored. Boy, he just gets up there and GOES.

It was a lot of fun and they appear to be organizing a marketing group so anyone who wants to market for Norcal should talk to the marketing guy in San Jose. Sorry I don't know his name, but FINALLY there is at least one marketing person. I hope he can organize these districts.

I am an alternate for the California Liberty Caucus and as a Newby I was greeted with, "well..do you think Ron Paul will win even one caucus?" This came from an actual board member.

I tell you this not to be negative, but my hope is whoever can help, will. I cannot stress enough that the older people I know are afraid to vote RP as they think he won't win. They like him. Please discuss how the delegate thing works and that does bring them around. Especially I tell them Santorum won Missouri popular vote, but got no delegates; that really blows their minds and they listen up.

So tonight was fun. There is LOADS of ENERGY all around!

Nice report!!! Positive and

Nice report!!! Positive and also realistic. The Sons/Daughters of Liberty in CA have a little over a month to get people registered as R's.Get a few a day, somebody will sign it, ask around, It's for RP so it's important, we gotta help him.

*Wisconsin Constitution* Article I, Section 25 "The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other law-abiding purpose"

Glad you enjoyed it!

My speakers

Thank you!

Thank you.

I don't often go to Ustream and hadn't found the contact info yet. I greatly appreciate the help.

Good pic of the crowd:

I get an inner arc of 50 and

I get an inner arc of 50 and an outer arc of 100. The sides are 44 deep and the center is 77 deep. I will let the student engineers to the math - but I guess somewhere between 4000 and 5000.

I estimate between 4000 to 8000+...depending on the # of ppl/sy

I hand drew a polygon around what I estimated to be the footprint of the crowd by eyeballing i_am_free's photo from the raised gazebo? area to the east and using a Bing Maps aerial photo in a geographical information system (GIS).

The estimated 2D surface area of the crowd footprint is about 3400 square yards (1 yard = 3 ft). Now we need an estimate of the number of people per square yard. At 1.3 ppl/sy (total guess), the total attendance is 4420. At 1.5 ppl/sy it's 5100.

Anybody have a good estimate of how many people generally fit within a 3'x3' box at an event such as this? What's scary (in a good way) is if the number of people per square yard is anything above 1.5. Here are some examples:

1.3 ppl/sy = 4420
1.5 ppl/sy = 5100
1.75 ppl/sy = 5950
2.0 ppl/sy = 6800
2.5 ppl/sy = 8500
3.0 ppl/sy = 10200
4.0 ppl/sy = 13600

Of course, the polygon I drew could be off by some plus or minus, but I think it's reasonably accurate for this purpose.

Thank you for the pics and LiveStream Links

Thank you!

I'm not sure how much of the crowd is not in that frame.

On the whole, this shot and the video panning I saw say it's maybe about the size of Chico.

My guess is Bruins RULE!
