The Berkeley Chapter of Students for Liberty helped co-ordinate this event --- It could not have been easy and Students for Liberty and people just like them in the other cities did a helluva job. Thank you all!

My guess on audience size is comparative; like the other events it's not possible to know a hard number. The Berkeley audience was perhaps roughly the size of Chico and Madison. I really haven't seen enough to know for sure.

It was not as big as UCLA. For now, BRUINS RULE!

Video: (:37 sec)At UC Berkeley 48 years ago, Mario Savio delivered a speech about The Machine. A speech much like what Ron Paul will deliver tonight.

America Needs to Stand Tall (and Vote for Ron Paul) Song Recorded by Ken Suitter - 1 of the 2 RP supporters arrested in St. Charles, MO.

May 4, 1970, National Guard troops killed 4 people at Kent State.

Nationwide, students went on strike, closing hundreds of colleges and high schools. They were protesting illegal, immoral war and the expansion of that undeclared war into Cambodia.

President Nixon was removed from Washington, D.C., for security reasons.

Reflecting on it later, Neil Young wrote the song:Ohio (music video here)

40 years ago Ohio said what Ron Paul says today.

Ohio (lyrics here) asks "How can you run when you know?":

In recent days, thousands stood with Ron Paul-- in Madison, in Chico and last night in Los Angeles.

Ohio issues a call to action:"Gotta get down to it, soldiers are cutting us down, should have been done long ago."

40 years later Ron Paul calls us to action!

Gotta get down to it. We don't run!

Today, thousands stand with Ron Paul in the Bay Area.

There's no way to stop an idea whose time has come.

The lunch crowd outside is

The lunch crowd outside is pretty small. 20 people on 3 corners. 2 without me. A bll a block away from the busiest area.

Ron Paul deserves his own (non-federal) holiday! http://ronpaulholiday.com/

I was there!

A good warm up for tonight in Berkeley!

Rock On!

You are how we win!

The more of us they see and learn from, the quicker we win.

how about a chant tonight at berkely

"black this out"
cover this
also why doesnt the campaign spring for a videographer to cover these events
so they can send footage to the media outlets?

John P. Slevin's picture

that's a damn good question

In ancient times we called it "actualities"---it meant taking film (not video, that didn't exist in very home then) of campaign events and either shipping them courier or taking them physically to TV stations (and audio reels to radio stations).

The central point is, ALL news media RELIES on you giving the info to them...they don't hunt it down themselves.

This is fundamental. It's why PR firms exist for gods sake.

It was very expensive and every well-funded serious national campaign HAD to have it or not be on the news.

Your question makes sense.

I can't answer WHY don't they do it.

You are right...

the media people are lazy; you have to take the news to them. I don't understand the campaign at all when it comes to this issue. They put Paul in California on the day of the Wisconsin primary and wonder why he gets no coverage. He gets no coverage because he was not in Wisconsin. Why not schedule the Wisconsin rally for the day before the primary or even on that same day for crying out loud.

Also, the biggest mistake this campaign made, in my humble opinion, was sending Dr. Paul home after the NH primary...he had momentum and he had press. Like, how much money did they save sending him home; I mean, put him up in a Motel 6 if necessary and send him out there in SC to ride the momentum. Instead, they lost the momentum and the press. How can the press cover a candidate who is at home? To me, that is when they lost the press and the momentum.

Excuse me but...

...hasn`t the good doctor been beating this path for over 20 years. The media has ignored him and his solid message for that long too. Just because he (or anyone else) spends $100,000 on videographers and sends them to the media it doesn`t mean the media will play them. Are you naive. His message is better than any video - the media knows his message, they know he`s there, they know he`s gaining support, they know he`s a real threat to the status-quo they uphold, they know his message has widespread support among Conservatives, Democrats and Independents - and yet they still ignore him - because they have to. No videographer will change that fact - the grass-roots are the only way to go

Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy

>I can't answer WHY don't

>I can't answer WHY don't they do it.

Neither can the Paul campaign.. they've been asked that (by me and others) for over six months and still no answer.

Other campaigns do it, so why doesn't the Paul campaign? .. and if they're expecting grassroots to do it then why won't they just say so?

Another question: Why don't Paul supporters submit CNN iReports and let us know so we can vote them up and comment on them?

the grass roots videos of rp events

are much appreciated and add positively to the fabric of the campaign
but for the most part they are not of a high enough quality
to tv and even for you tube only really interesting to rp fanatics
its like the grateful dead and their vast arrary of fan bootlegs-interesting for dead heads
but not for the mainstream

the difference is the dead chose to market themselves via their fan base and achieved success without having to resort to laser shows and fancy mtv videos

good for the dead
BUT the rp revolution needs to be made more accessible to the mainstream
i am not avocating a watering down of the message but rather
a better presentation of it-better photos and videos of events would
go a long way

Any News on Larger Venue???

...surely it is being looked into.

Berkeley has a very, very

Berkeley has a very, very large free speech area on campus.

I'm betting The Greek, if it is available

http://facilities.calperfs.berkeley.edu/greek/techspecs.php#...

I don't know of course, just a guess. I'd love to see Ron Paul at the Greek...

That would be a beautiful sight!

*crosses fingers*

We had 8,000 in Los Angeles

I don't care if you have a quarter of that...MOST IMPORTANT IS TO GET IT ON TV...ANY TV. We had Fox News (local Los Angeles). They interviewed a lot of people. NONE OF IT WAS ACTUALLY PLAYED. The moral of the story...BOMBARD YOUR LOCAL NEWS STATIONS, GET SOMEONE OUT THERE TO COVER IT, AND GET IT ON TELEVISION.

END OF STORY.

Here is the media contact info

http://www.dailypaul.com/224424/massive-ron-paul-crowds-comi...

That has the news release I put out and alot of No. California media, at least most of the majors and alot of others too.

I had that up days ago...I hope people take another look and make those calls, send those emails, fill-out those online TV station submission forms.

It doesn't take long to show them audience interest in a Ron Paul story.

Pass it along.

If you are going to the rally Bring....

Voter Registration forms from your local area, meet up with others who may not be registered to vote yet as a Republican.
