Ron Paul Leaves Others 'In The Dust' In Military Donations

Ron Paul Leaves Others 'In The Dust' In Military Donations

Writes Hope Hodge at Human Events:

It’s no secret that those employed by the armed forces have been leaning in favor of someone considered something of a political outlier: Ron Paul.

Now, a review by Human Events of the latest campaign donation reports shows that financial support from that sector has intensified to such a degree that Paul has left the other candidates, as well as President Barack Obama, in the dust…

As of Sept. 30, 2011, Paul had received $95,567 from members of the military, edging out President Barack Obama’s $72,616, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. By Feb. 29, that lead had more than doubled to $315,109 compared to Obama’s $148,308.

The closest runner-up to Paul in the Republican race is Romney, who reported $13,300 in military-related donations as of Sept. 30, and $36,108 from those employed by the military as of Feb. 29.

In contrast, Paul received more than $220,000 from military donors from October to February…

you didn't get THIS from the latest Luntz focus group

Someone just sent me a nasty note saying Frank Luntz had the goods on Ron Paul and we all are idiots for supporting him :)

Yeah, well it doesn't matter

Yeah, well it doesn't matter that he gets the most donations from the military and was the only candidate running who was actually in the military because we all know that his foreign policy is crazy. Just ask Faux News.

Think that is a lot? Wonder

Think that is a lot? Wonder what it would be if all the veteran's donations were included..:)

Department of Defense donations

My good friend, who works for the DOD and is a Ron Paul supporter/donater told me over Christmas that Ron Paul is supported by everyone who works at the DOD who he knows, worked with or has just talked to. He's a popular guy in Arlington according to what he said in the conversation we had.

Like the Roadrunner...

Paul can replace income taxes

Any economics major out there what do you think of this? http://www.thetransactiontax.org/

I've been a valet parker most of my working life and have not paid taxes on shit. Started a business and I'm doing my taxes right now and this sucks. I would like to see the tax system reinvented as soon as possible, please share.

Outgo Tax

It has the bonus of exempting ALL food products, and rent. We might have to negotiate a little on the purchase of a house, but preferably we'd eliminate the need for taxes at all!

The Dept. of Defense is 5th largest Ron Paul donor!

Add these four large donors up, with the Marines & US Government, and that makes over $300,000 as of March 21. Believe it!

Some of those numbers are a bit depressing.

For example, as of Sept. 30, 2008 Microsoft had 56,654 employees in the US. So say their current employee count is about the same, and that 10% are Ron Paul supporters (which is hopefully an underestimate). Microsoft employees cumulatively gave $26,350. That only comes out to an average of about $4.65 per Ron Paul supporter. (Really? On average, saving the country is worth less than the price of a sandwich? I can understand typical Romney "supporters" not donating to Romney as they don't care enough about the country to even take the time to make an informed presidential choice, but I thought Ron Paul supporters gave a crap.) And it's not like most people working at Google, Microsoft, IBM or Intel are scraping by with low wages.

Anyone who maxed out ($2500) would represent around 10% of total donations from all Microsoft employees (and that % just goes up with companies that cumulatively gave less). That just seems insane to me.

People need to realize that this is a fight that needs to be fought, and that involves a bit of sacrifice. They can't just sit back and assume everyone else is going to fight it for them.

I think the donations come from individuals

within the service branches, and the DOD and corporations too. Not from the DOD agency.

I wish some of these

I wish some of these corporations would do a bit more to support Ron Paul financially. Google has so much money, they could give 1m to Ron and nobody would notice it was missing.

He does not accept corporate donations

And many new supporters are really unaware that he needs the help. I studied myself into becoming his supporter last August and it took some time to get connected and to realize that he needed funds. Many americans leave the campaign finances up to the party or the corporations or just give now and then figuring that someone is backing them. It has been progressive for me to find out that he only accepts personal donations, no corporate donations and never has. And I doubt most folks know how fiscally responsible he is either - while other candidates are staying in suites and eating at fancy restaurants, Dr. Paul doesn't waste our money. The other candidates are willing to waste tax payer's money for security but Dr. Paul in good conscience can't. He is a cut above but it takes a while for folks to find out about this.

You that have been around for a while - you might not realize how much you need to communicate this to the new folks. How are they going to find out? I found out some of this only in discussions with his headquarters, and other details over listening to everything and reading everything I could find.

Tell people - share this about him. The reason he doesn't get more financial help is a lot of folks don't realize that he needs it and the ones who do reached their limit a long time ago.

In a major step towards global centralization of election processes, the world’s dominant Internet voting company has purchased the USA’s dominant election results reporting company.
When you view your local or state election results on the Internet, on portals which often appear to be owned by the county elections division, in over 525 US jurisdictions you are actually redirected to a private corporate site controlled by SOE software, which operates under the name ClarityElections.com.

It's not going to mean Chit

If we don't do something about this:

The good news is that this firm promptly reports precinct-level detail in downloadable spreadsheet format. As reported by BlackBoxVoting.org in 2008, the bad news is that this centralizes one middleman access point for over 525 jurisdictions in AL, AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, KY, MI, KS, IL, IN, NC, NM, MN, NY, SC, TX, UT, WA. And growing.
As local election results funnel through SOE’s servers (typically before they reach the public elsewhere), those who run the computer servers for SOE essentially get “first look” at results and the ability to immediately and privately examine vote details throughout the USA.
In 2004, many Americans were justifiably concerned when, days before the presidential election, Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell redirected Ohio election night results through the Tennessee-based server for several national Republican Party operations.
This is worse: This redirects results reporting to a centralized privately held server which is not just for Ohio, but national; not just USA-based, but global.
A mitigation against fraud by SOE insiders has been the separation of voting machine systems from the SOE results reports. Because most US jurisdictions require posting evidence of results from each voting machine at the precinct, public citizens can organize to examine these results to compare with SOE results. Black Box Voting spearheaded a national citizen action to videotape / photograph these poll tapes in 2008.
With the merger of SOE and SCYTL, that won’t work (if SCYTL’s voting system is used). When there are two truly independent sources of information, the public can perform its own “audit” by matching one number against the other.
These two independent sources, however, will now be merged into one single source: an Internet voting system controlled by SCYTL, with a results reporting system also controlled by SCYTL.
With SCYTL internet voting, there will be no ballots. No physical evidence. No chain of custody. No way for the public to authenticate who actually cast the votes, chain of custody, or the count.
SCYTL is moving into or already running elections in:
